Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Hotel Stalis appears to receive mixed feedback from its guests. The hotel's prime location near the beach and nightlife is frequently praised, and the cleanliness of the hotel is a highlight for many, with special mentions of the well-kept rooms and beach area. However, opinions on value are less favorable, with guests pointing out additional charges for beach amenities and expressing dissatisfaction with the all-inclusive options. The atmosphere is generally appreciated, although some find certain areas outdated. Guest experiences with service vary, with reports of both friendly and unhelpful staff, particularly at the bar. Room quality is inconsistent; some find them clean and renovated, while others complain about size, dated decor, and lack of expected views. Amenities like beachfront access are popular, but the scarcity of pool loungers and perceived over-surveillance by bar staff have been called out for improvement.

We have been coming here for over 30 years, just like many other regulars. Everyone is very friendly, helpful and there is a family atmosphere. The reception is open 24 hours a day and the rooms are bright and friendly with a balcony. Wonderful mattresses allow super sleeping comfort. Food is offered in an extra building. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style. All meals are fresh and prepared seasonally and it leaves nothing to be desired. Big praise to the cook and his hardworking helpers. We were surprised every night and everything was sooo delicious. Everything was very tasty and varied. Thanks again to the kitchen!!!
There is a pool with bar and the sandy beach is within walking distance in just 2 minutes. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available on site. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel at the top of the road for excursions. You are also welcome to book rental for car, quad, scooter and other in the village.
The place is highly recommended and it should get more like 3 stars! The location, the service, the facilities just EVERYTHING is great here and appealing to all ages. We say THANK YOU and are already looking forward to next year!

We have been coming back to the Stalis Hotel for many years. Thanks to its ideal location, you are in the middle of the action and just a few steps away from the wonderful sandy beach.
No matter what time of day you arrive, you will receive a friendly welcome from the reception staff and a meal will even be provided at night.
In the newly renovated and functionally furnished rooms, guests are looked after in an exemplary manner by the service team and they do their very best to fulfill their wishes.
Just a few steps away is the restaurant where meals are served buffet style. There is something for every taste, but we prefer the fine Greek dishes.
The price-performance ratio in this hotel is right and we would like to thank the management and their staff for the beautifully designed stays and are already looking forward to our next vacation here.

We have stayed in Stalis Hotel last week, with two children (7 and 12), in 2 rooms: in the main building and in building 2. The hotel is in the centre of Stalis.
The guide of the travel agency (Anubis) was very professional, we have no problem with the car rental. Recommend. By the way the parking was problematic, there was no enough place near the hotel.
Rooms, cleaning
The rooms were partly renovated, air conditioning worked properly without any noise. (developed point: very thin doors - noisy)
Cleaning was regular and of good quality – towel change etc
Food, restaurant
The breakfast is ok, nothing extra – but the kids can choose for example pancake every morning
Dinner is also ok, everyday fish, pork, chicken and vegetarian choice also
Waiters are nice, negative point is the smoking area….annoying
Pool, bar, beach
What makes this hotel stand out from the rest is the beach bar and the whole beach/pool area.
The beach is sandy, clear and beautiful. Arian the barman works fantastic, he is very nice and professional. Thanks him for this wonderful holiday!
I would love to go back anytime, I really recommend this hotel.

Our arrival at 2 a.m. began with a shock: We were assigned a ground floor room, which was unknowingly about 50° warm. After a 12-hour journey, however, we were too tired to discuss and, despite the worry that someone might break in through the patio door, we went to sleep – with the doors wide open.

The next morning we asked for another room, which was fortunately larger and better ventilated. The next surprise awaited us by the pool: Although the loungers were free, they were reserved with towels before sunrise – often for hours without anyone using them. An absolute outrage! On the beach, two sunbeds and an umbrella cost €7 a day, and here too, the best seats were reserved early. It felt like a real battle for the loungers!

Particularly annoying was the “pool man”, who went around at around 10am to collect the money for the loungers – obviously putting most of the money in his pocket, unless one specifically demanded a receipt. The beach was hardly cleaned: There were cigarette butts, empty plastic bottles and paper napkins everywhere. If you hadn't returned the glasses to the bar by 6 p.m., you were unkindly admonished by the pool man as he was off work. Understandable, but the sound makes the music! In the neighboring hotel, you saw much more effort to make the beach clean, tidy and welcoming.

The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet was also disappointing. Although Crete is known for its good fruits and vegetables, we were served canned peaches and a fruit bowl made from canned food. We quickly cut open oranges ourselves and refined them with cottage cheese and some honey. Maybe I'm spoiled as I could already enjoy excellent Greek specialties on Kos, but the food here was definitely expandable.

Dinner was served from 7pm to 9pm, but far from cosy. It often happened that there were no free tables, and the waiters would ask you directly if you had finished eating so that the next guests could sit down. This was anything but pleasant! We went out to dinner for two nights – and didn’t regret it.

Overall, we tried to make the most of our stay, but one thing is for sure: We definitely won't book this hotel again!

Hotel was spread out across different locations which was okay once we had found our bearings , check in was very efficient after being dropped off at the back of the hotel due to poor access in the front. Nico on the reception desk was very helpful with our luggage and very helpful with further information we required always smiling and pleasant. The Pool area that was situated across the road down towards the Beach had only 12 sun beds with a further 10 beds on a lower level these were always taken very early by regular guests , the remaining sun beds on the Beach had to be paid for at 7 euros a day or even more expensive further along the Beach. The Pool Barman Arian was always friendly ,attentive , welcoming and efficient . Mario the Barman in the Main reception area was always very busy at the Bar and also during Breakfast he made us feel very welcome and kept us entertained, correcting our pigeon Greek language. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he did his best to accommodate everyone’s wishes.
The Hotel accommodation itself was a little tired but adequate for 3*
The Hotel Wi-Fi was very poor in areas especially our room , it was okay at the Pool Bar and Reception.
Breakfast food was always cool or warm at best , bacon cold and burnt, beans cold, limited bread selection shortage of butter , tea bags limited , coffee machine not always repetitive , drinks machine very watery.
People were smoking in the food areas.
The Beach area was always kept clean , Sea water was pleasant to bathe in ,warmer than the Pool
Overall our stay was made pleasurable by the Staff, Mario,Nico and Arian .

On the day of arrival we were informed that unfortunately we would have to wait for our booked rooms for another 2 days. We were given as a replacement 3 bed rooms overlooking the expressway. After daily request our booked rooms were provided for us after 4 days.
The food is rather average, the meat is hard, or not quite through. Drink only chlorine-tasting still water for dinner. All other drinks will be charged extra. The staff is very inhospitable.
In the evening after 6 p.m., the water is turned off by the pool and the pool is closed.
Very positive I feel the thorough and friendly cleaning staff , the proximity to the beach and the not so crowded beach.

A real mixed bag this hotel. Arrived at about 9.30pm and were greeted at reception and assisted with our cases. Which was just as well as we were in the block behind the impressive frontage on the main road which was, frankly, narrow and dark and a little bit of a walk. We were told that we had a "sea view" room but that this was not a complete view. We could apparently pay to move and see more sea! We declined. The room was fine. Clean and the bathroom well equipped - apart from no kettle.
Unfortunately, the view from our balcony once light the following morning comprised the back of an old and tired apartment (not sure if this was part of our hotel), and what appeared to be a dumping ground for rubbish. To be fair, we could see the sea, but only between buildings. The view was a a tad depressing.
Breakfast in the hotel was included and was pretty good. Plenty of choice. Didn't seem to change though in the 7 days that we were there. The dining area looks out onto the street and in the morning, the sunshine was flooding in, so we wanted to sit in the area at the front facing the street after a long rainy summer in UK. Unfortunately, so did many German guests who wanted to smoke. Not just before and between breakfast courses, but often during. Hideous. This area of the restaurant, though facing out onto the street, is covered and we were shocked to find that we were completely surrounded by cigarette smoke every morning. There is NO WAY in the 21st century that anyone should be smoking in a covered area where food is being served. When challenged, one couple pointed at the ashtray that they had been provided with by the staff as their justification for chain smoking throughout our breakfast.
Smoking in eating areas appears to be an ongoing issue in Crete. We visit many Greek islands regularly, and have simply never seen this permitted in enclosed eating areas elsewhere for years. Even without the health issues, the stink when cigarettes are being chain smoked for up to an hour at every table is completely unacceptable. For this reason, we would not return to this hotel, and suggest that anyone who values their health stays away. Particularly if half board or all inclusive which would be intolerable. At least we only had to suffer it during breakfast.
I suspect that the hotel if they respond will maintain that the best seats in the restaurant are a "smoking area". Not good enough for your non smoking guests....not good enough at all. Ban smoking in the entire area, which is enclosed, then everyone can enjoy themselves equally...
This was our second visit to Stalis. We will be back next year but not to this hotel.

Where too start with this hotel.

Pros:

Close to the sea.

Close to some nice restaurant's (would recommend kings)

Cons:

Food terrible

Rooms the size of a shoebox

Bar man (didn't wear name tag so didn't get his name) in lobby bar very rude does not like giving more then 1 drink at a time even though you are all inclusive.

The pool was not cleaned once for the full 2 weeks that we were there all sand and dirt on bottom of the pool. Snacks in pool bar were stale sandwiches and biscuits the ice cream was nice though. Also for such a big hotel there were only 12 sunbeds available next to the pool, you could have a sunbed on the beach which belonged to the hotel but this comes as an extra charge.

Drinks available on the all inclusive is only Beer, vodka, raki or brandy. Drinks machine in lobby bar turned off during the day so you have to walk to the pool bar for a drink.

This hotel is more a 2 star then a 3 star people say you get what you pay for but this hotel is not cheap and you certainly don't get what you pay for at this place.

The room was clean, tidy, and modern, cleaners came everyday except for Sunday I believe. The hotel was split into different buildings so we weren't in the 'main' building, but a short walk down from it.
The all-inclusive food options were very basic, and felt more like a school canteen than being on holiday, and the drinks options were fairly limited also, having to pay extra if you wanted anything more than a basic spirit+mixer/lager etc.
The pool was quite small and loungers were taken early, but the beach was lovely and sandy so we were situated there most of the time.
It was situated on a bustling road with lots of things to do, bars, restaurants, mini golfing etc, and if you continue following down the road for around 30-40 minutes you'll reach Malia if you want some nightlife.
Great location, and great if looking for a budget friendly holiday. Staff were lovely and very friendly.

For the price you can't complain. In my opinion, the hotel really deserves one more star. Because it is spread over several buildings, it takes some searching on the first day, but afterwards you can enjoy it. Extensive bar with reasonable prices. Food is fine for the price. Hotel is spotless. Big shoutout to bartender/beachboy Arjan. He is available for you 7 days a week. Thanks to him I also learned some Greek! If I have to comment on something, it is that the single rooms are on the small side and that the layout of the bathroom is a bit strange. The tap is on the side of the shower, under which the shower hose is on the short side. We would also rate the sink as a fountain. But that's nitpicking.
