On a lovely hillside just above Stalis, a resort of natural beauty, these apartments are situated 30 km east of the airport of Heraklion on the North-East coast of Crete. Built in a traditional Cretan style of bungalows, the apartments were fully-renovated in 2007. The apartments are constructed in terraces so that the roof of one apartment is the veranda of the other, with balconies at the front and back. They are all surrounded by beautiful gardens with trees and flowers. Attracting thousands of visitors every summer, this is a wonderful environment for relaxing in. Here, the family holiday atmosphere is combined with the exciting nightlife of the endless Greek summer.

Just returned from a 7 day stay at this beautiful hotel. We have previously stayed in big all inclusive hotels, but as we like to eat out, we decided to stay somewhere smaller. Although it is a 15 min walk downhill into Stalis the views are well worth it. We hired a quad for our stay as I struggle due to bad hips. The rooms are in tiers going up the hill. So if you struggle ask for a room lower down. The staff .....(apart from the view) are the unique selling point of the hotel. Maria, Ralf and Alexandra do all they can to make you feel at home. We've already rebooked for next year.

From top to bottom Mariamare has everything you could wish for in an apartment complex. The apartments themselves are very clean, spacious and with some of the biggest balcony space I`ve ever seen. (all the better to enjoy the amazing vista out over Stalis - sea and surrounding hills). The apartments have the best view from a pool you`re gonna get anywhere and its large enough to do a bit of "proper" swimming if thats your thing. All the staff have been there for years giving it a "family" feel that money alone can`t buy. These people aren`t staff, they`re friends! Maria`s cooking is second to none and believe me when I say,to quote Homer Simpsom, "buy buy belt time!". Maria, we will see you soon!!!

We found this lovely place on love holiday, we were impressed from the moment we arrived ! We were greeted by Nicos and Alexandra and the owner Maria came out to meet us too . Nicos helped us upto our room with our bags as there are a number of steps , the room was a good size and nice sized beds . Plenty of draws and hanging space for our clothes . There was soap and shower gel in the room also , the bathroom is a good size too . Balcony’s to the front and back of the room . The breakfast was nice and we tried the lunch menu and it was lovely 😀 . The pool is a nice size , with plenty of sun loungers around it . It’s about a 20 minute walk down into Stalis centre , we would get a taxi back on an evening which was about 8 euros . The views are amazing from the rooms and the poolside too . The gent ( I apologise his name has completely slipped my mind think it was Ravi ) that served on the bar later in the day was friendly also like everyone else that was there . The room and place were kept clean by the lovely cleaner . There were families there that went every year and we will definitely be returning. Thank-you for making our first visit to Stalis an enjoyable one . From room 206 👍

Very nicely located apartment hotel. Unfortunately on the mountain with no elevator, lots of stairs that are not all the same height. No railings to really hold on to. The chairs and tables pose a risk of injury. The boss is only in charge, but when she was away for two days it was very relaxed. The cook seems to be there 24/7, makes breakfast, does the rooms, cooks dinner. Everything is top notch!! All in all you feel very comfortable there, but without a car you are stuck. There is no washing-up liquid, no drying cloth for dishes or even a cleaning cloth.

We booked a 7 night stay at the Mariamare apartments just 3 1/2 weeks before we came due to uncertainty around Covid, but were so glad we did. Weather perfect, we had one of the lower apartments which was very smart and paid for aircon which we were happy to do. The sunbeds around the pool were spaced out due to social distancing, and you had to be served the breakfast buffet to maintain this, but we found no problems at all. We loved the breakfast and had a couple of meals from the bar during our stay. The staff were all really lovely too. The view from the apartment and the pool area is as incredible as every review will tell you! We ate out every night in Stalis and actually enjoyed the walk back up the massive hill - it helped to work off dinner! Will definitely be back :)

This was a lovely place to stay, nice clean rooms and the bathroom was good size with a really nice and spacious shower cubicle. The views from the verandas were breathtaking. The staff was also absolutely wonderful, they found a way to accommodate us after there was a mistake in our booking, and they were so polite and kind. I’d love to stay there again.

Very pleasant climate on the hillside, nice view in the bay and mountains. Good deal, polite staff, clean and safe. The food is excellent, very traditional greek dishes with high proficiency. I strongly recommend it, it's worth.

Quite simply the best place to stay in Stalis. Maria and her staff are all excellent, they make sure you enjoy your time with them. Lovely rooms, first class food and the view from every angle is just stunning. If you like a relaxed holiday, this is the place for you.

Buffet breakfast and dinner. Food is wide ranging, all home cooked and really tasty. Plenty to cater for the kids too. Usually 2 or 3 mains to choose from and yummy desserts.
There’s plenty options for night life with Stalis a short walk from the apartments and Malia a little further. There are lots of water activities but not aware of boat trips from stalis. We went to Ageos Nicolas and Elounda and there were boat trips from there, Spinalonga was worth a visit.
There are more places to choose from in the Stalis area.
