Anastasia Hotel enjoys a favorable location close to beaches and local attractions, with guests commending its serene surroundings and accessibility. While the staff has been lauded for their friendliness, there have been occasional mentions of rudeness. My husband, 15 year old son and I arrived back home yesterday after a fabulous week’s stay at the Anastasia Hotel and wished that we’d booked for longer as it went far too quick.

We found it to be one of the friendliest hotels that we’ve stayed in and won’t hesitate in returning again.

The staff all work so tirelessly to ensure all of their guests has an enjoyable holiday.

Our room was a family room which was kept clean and tidy daily by the cleaners, with fresh towels and bed linen changed on a regular basis.

The pool and bar areas were also kept very clean and there was no issue getting a sunbed around the pool at any time of day.

We especially enjoyed the twice daily happy hours at the pool bar.

The hotel grounds were very pretty and peaceful and only a short stroll to the centre of Stalis and the beach.

This was our first time in Crete and we would definitely recommend the Anastasia to anyone who is considering going to Stalis or Crete.

We have recently returned from this fantastic hotel.

With Covid being on everyone’s mind, we wanted to go somewhere where we would feel safe.

The measures the hotel have put in place are fantastic! Online check in before you arrive, Hand sanitiser dotted around the hotel, masks worn by staff, food served at the buffet and sun loungers well spaced out. I felt completely safe.

We upgraded to a two bedroom apt, great room with a lovely view, spacious and plenty of storage and a great balcony where we spent evenings while the little one slept.

Food was great. So much choice for every pallet, there was something for everyone.

We have been to the Anastasia a number of times now and find everyone is treated with a warm welcome no matter how many times they have visited. Preferential treatment to me means that some people get things others don’t. That’s certainly not the case. Michalis and his team give everyone top quality service, from the friendly bar staff all the way through to the cleaning staff. It’s hard to read facial expressions due to staff wearing masks, but they were never rude to anyone and always wanting to help. Michalis does a great job, mingling with the guests and ensuring everything is as it should be.

Hotel bar prices are abit more than in town, show me a hotel where this isn’t the case, but by no way expensive.

In summary, a lovely family friendly hotel, there was a group of us (some first time guests) who had arranged to rebook for October half term, shame the UK govt have put a stop to that! But there is always next year! We have booked already for next summer and cannot wait!

Thank you to all the staff in the hotel for making us feel safe in these very uncertain times!!

Excellent return visit. Top class measures in place ensuring the safety of guests is the top priority at this time. The hotel is immaculate and felt safer there than in Ireland. The rooms are cleaned daily and there is sanitizer available across the complex with mask wearing, social distancing and very regular cleaning of communal areas coupled with the provision of plastic gloves etc. A huge thanks to the brilliant staff and management who make this hotel one or the best on the island. Great staff, food, facilities and accommodation.

Went to the fantastic Anastasia Hotel, Stalis for a week and ended up staying for three! The friendliness of the staff is infectious. I have never been to such a welcoming place. It is spotlessly clean and there is hand sanitiser at the access points to the pool bar, restaurants and outside the toilets, as well as plenty of signage about the precautions to take because of COVID. This certainly doesn’t affect the wonderful atmosphere of the place. It was our first time here but definitely not our last. We met so many returning guests and they also made us feel really welcome, like they wanted to share their little piece of paradise with us. The food was wonderful, there was so much to choose from. In the morning there was a choice of continental or English breakfast. In the evening there was a fantastic choice of salads, soup and cooked foods. My children are extremely fussy eaters but they always found something they liked. In fact this was part of our thinking when extending our stay as our youngest needs to put some weight on and we have never seen him eat so well. Did I mention the BBQ on a Sunday? Wow, just wow, it was the best BBQ I’ve had, such a selection of cooked meats, not to forget the great salads I mentioned earlier. We had an argument between us as to whether there were three or four pools, but as I’m writing this, I’m going with four, two pools for the toddlers and two for the bigger kids (I will not reveal my age but in my mind I’m still a kid). We met some wonderful people on this holiday and coming home yesterday was such a wrench. I’ve never seen the children more upset to leave somewhere and none of us can wait to get back. Funnily we would never had found this place if it wasn’t for a pandemic, so something good can come out of something horrible. We met so many wonderful people during our stay that made it so special. Hopefully we will see some of you again soon at the Anastasia Hotel. Thank you so much to Mikalis, Diane, Vangelis, Janis, Eva, Tanya and those whose names I have not remembered. Thank you to the guy on reception who looked after my son when he was frightened by one of the performances they had, as he suffers from autism. Despite being a Liverpool fan (I think all the staff are) he sat him down in reception and talked to him about the good old Arsenal, to take his mind off it while I made my way over to fetch him. Yamas!

Would highly recommend this hotel , we did not book this hotel but ended up staying here after our tour operator overbooked the apartments we had booked and they booked us here at 1am in the morning on arrival with a 1am curfew in place you can imagine our panic , However when we do return to Greece we will be definitely booking this hotel for sure! Thank you to all the staff who are so welcoming and friendly, we immediately felt comfortable staying here even though we hadn’t booked this hotel! Thank you to the kind man on reception (i didnt get his name unfortunately but he was very lovely to us). For anyone looking to book this hotel ..the food is lovely, great selection at breakfast, fresh and plentiful! The evening meals also to high standard! The pool is great clean and well maintained! The rooms are absolutely spotless the beds so comfortable , the cleaning staff work very hard and room was cleaned every day! The shower ( a very big bonus in Greece) were great and easy to use and enclosed shower with screens. We have been to many Greek islands over the years and by far this was one of the best , The whole atmosphere of this hotel was traditional Greek hospitality and would not hesitate to return in Heartbeat and again we can’t be more thankful for how welcoming this hotel and every single member of staff was to us. Can’t wait to come back of our own accord hopefully very soon ! P.S the grounds and flowers of this hotel are beautiful.

After having had 3 holidays cancelled this year myself and my daughter decided to head back to Stalis where we’d previously holidayed as a family a good few years back as we love it there.
This was our first time to the Anastasia and it didn’t disappoint.
We particularly enjoyed lunch times around the pool, the food was always fresh, plentiful and very reasonably priced I certainly cannot relate to the previous review either as every single member of staff we met was lovely and we were newbies here.
We found the standard of cleanliness to be superb, hand sanitizer all around the hotel complex, tables and chairs wiped down regularly we couldn’t of asked for more.
We will most certainly be back.

Stayed for 11 nights end of June absolutely loved this hotel from the moment we were greeted at 1 in the morning told to leave our bags and come get a bite to eat and drinks from the bar. We were lucky enough to be given an updated family room on the lower level with views of the mountains and sea. The aircon was brill even woke up cold and its free!!!
Breakfast was fab much more selection than was expected and even though our plans weren't to eat in on an evening at the hotel ( stalis has soooo many good restaurants) we did most of the holiday and enjoyed every meal. Cant really comment on the entertainment we always preferred to wander down to the local bars, hersonissos or malia whichh is easy to get to by bus, 1.6 euros . Yes it was abit of a walk into the the centre of Stalis but hey after all that food it was needed. The pool and pool areas were kept spotless though we didn't even use them our choice we're more beach people and hired a quad to explore the many surrounding beaches and villages.
All in all we had a great stay and reccomend this hotel.
Thankyou team Annastasia for all your hard work and hospitality we would definitely return.

This review is my personal opinion
Having stayed at the Anastasia for about 10 times before I have to say how things have gradually gone down hill. Michalis , who used to own it, now floats around in the background with a bored look , you can tell he does not want to be there. He has sold out to HotelBrain, who are a company who manage holiday properties on the Island and others around Greece. It's hard to tell who is in charge anymore as there seems to be so many different managers/under managers.
The majority of the rooms need major updating. Most bathrooms contain a bath with a shower over it. Dangerous isn't the word, There is nothing to stop you slipping in the bath when taking a shower so very unsafe. Also a lot of the return guests are elderly and some not too good on their feet so are probably unable to even get into the bath to shower etc
The evening food has definitely gone down in standard and choice, and the puddings are all a much of a muchness. Always jelly, and some sort of custard filled cakes and ice cream.
What can I say about the evening entertainment??? Apart from Tony, with his quiz, bingo and Karaoke, the rest is appalling. One night there was a couple of girls doing a quiz that was advertised as "Music Quiz- Old School" So we thought we would give it a go, as was our type of thing. How wrong we were, the girls we asking the questions and to answer people had to put up their hands, the girls would then ask for the answer then asked if we were sure, then they would reply, yes you are correct and we give you one point. If felt like we were all in nursery school. So a lot of people got up and left to get away from the joke that was called entertainment.
All of the staff worked so hard and were all very friendly And in my opinion all the cleaners have the hardest work to do. There used to more cleaning ladies but now only about half a dozen, and they all work extremely hard keeping the rooms clean, everyday. I don't think the are appreciated by management, as on a number of occasions I witnessed them being spoken to abruptly by management and then ignored and shooed away by them when they tried to reply.
The hotel needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to date, especially in the bathrooms.
Michalis probably did the right thing selling up, but he walks around like he's the captain of the Titanic. I heard that as part of his contract selling was that he had to still be present at the hotel every so often as he was the "Face" of the hotel, well I'm sorry but no-one wants to see a miserable face when they're on their holidays. He'd be best staying away and jumping ship.
I have had many great times in this hotel, but sadly it's had it's day, which is a great shame

This answer is my personal Opinion. 1) Guest says she had stayed 10 times in our Hotel but has only 1 review in TA overall. Most probably forgotten the previous good times ? 2) I still own the Hotel, the hotel is not sold to anyone, inaccurate information or big imagination I could say. 3) Very strange, TA aloud personal insults directed from guest to me personally for no obvious reason, I do not know the guest or we have not ever spoke with each other. If guest finds me boring or miserable looking, please look somewhere else don't stare at me ! 4) The staff is increased from 2019 from 27 persons to 32, 2 more waiters, 2 more reception staff and 1 more in the kitchen, the rest remained the same, maids were always 7 and they are still the same 7 maids. So again inaccurate information provided from the reviewer. 5) Entertainment, Reviewer forgot to mention the live Music Band on Wed., The Acrobatic Show, The Quick Change Live show, The laser/lights Live Show and she analyzes with a whole paragraph the night when our main entertainer was tested positive with covid and we brought a back up plan in place. 6) The food is the same if not better, the display is upgraded and both chefs in the kitchen are the same staff that was cooking for the last 15 years and the 10 times reviewer says she stayed before ! 7) I have no contract agreements of me walking around as the 'Face' of the hotel with anyone, when I get the time, I go there with my kids for a meal or sing at karaoke and saying hallo to most of the guests/friends we have made during all this years. Your 'low' and offensive comments of Captain of the Titanic or miserable face's not even worth any further comments. Readers will clearly understand who is the miserable one in this story, if Tripadvisor aloud to reply back of course on the same style !

This was our first time at Anastasia Hotel. There were four of us, two adults, 16 year old and 11 year old girls.

Location is in a quiet area, but it was very ok for us. We loved the buildings in smaller blocks and the beautiful garden. Our open plan family room was comfortable with one double bed and two single beds and it had a balcony where we could see the sea. There was a bathtub in the bathroom and what I really liked was that there was no bath curtain but bath screen and the floor was always dry after taking a shower.

The closest beach was Ikaros/Kernos beach, mostly big waves but lovely.

There are 3 pools, bigger one, kids pool and then a little bit smaller one. All clean and not overcrowded. No problem of getting sunbeds, maybe there needs to be more parasols.

HB food was nice and tasty. If you could please offer some other fruits beside watermelon. We loved the seafood pasta, it was our favourite. The BBQ on Sunday was tasty. The 'Local Corner', providing Cretan dips, tapenades, feta in olive oil etc - we found to be delicious.

Happy hour for drinks is very kind of you, especially in the heatwave.

And last but not least, the staff. We are huge fans of you! Always smiling, always helpful. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Very clean friendly hotel. We ended up moving rooms as the room we were given originally seemed dated and was noisy, So we paid to move. The food was very nice always plenty of choice, not always the hottest but in the current situation totally understandable. Felt totally safe, sun beds spaced well and sanitiser everywhere.
Soft drinks seemed very expensive, a small coke nearly same price as a large beer. The one thing I didn’t understand is the water we bought wasn’t allowed to be drank by poolside only in the room, Not sure why.

Dear Amanda B, Thank you very much for your kind words about our Hotel. It is great to read you have overall enoyed your stay here with us ) I think the prices of our drinks are very reasonable, some examples, small coke is 2.20Euro and a large 600ml Beer (more than a pint) costs 3.60 Euro, vodka +cola or gin+tonic costs 5 euro, ciders (magners, strongbow, kopeberg) cost 4.60 Euro...... The 6 pack of water 6x1.5lt bottles, is on special offer of 2.50 Euro all together, in order to save the walk for guests carrying it from the supermarket, this is why, is for room use ony. Of course guests can purchase single bottles of small, or large water from the Bar, for use around the pool and restaurants. I hope that helps. Thank you again and we look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the near future. All the Best !
