Charming 17th century mountain castle with renovated rooms, full bar/restaurant, comfortable outdoor seating and beautiful surroundings. The meals from morning to night are delicious. Highly recommend staying here!

We had the opportunity to stay in this very lovely and very old château. This seems to be a family business, the staff are all just wonderful and polite, the rooms are relaxing as are the ground to sit in. Every morning I woke to the smell of Brioche baking, we stayed in one of the turrets. Our room was very airy, plenty of room for bags, beds very comfortable as well. Meals were just simply devine, from breakfast where you could boil your own eggs to dinner, the food was well presented and your every whim was looked after. Having stayed in this region before, I thoroughly recommend this chateau as a place to stay, it is approx a 20 minute drive to Venosc from Le Bourg d Oisans. Breakfast was an extra cost but at just under 10€ who would complain, most French breakfasts cost more than that! and where would you be able to cook your own boiled eggs. This was a very romantic and truly lovely experience for anyone wanting to experience the true French romance. Well worth the money.

I hate to be the first to write a negative review here, but I feel some balance is needed in the face of all the glowing reports. My husband and I have been touring Europe for the past three months and this has been hands down our worst hotel experience. Where to begin? The room was small and stuffy, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the bathroom smelled of urine. Considering the prices they charge in the restaurant, the food was simply terrible: everything was overcooked (my chicken was the consistency of shoe leather), the bread and desserts were stale, and even our morning coffee was served cold. Yes, the hotel is in a very beautiful area, and I give them credit for having a good wine list. But beyond that, I cannot offer any compliments to the hotel or its staff.

Response from Chantal G, Propriétaire at Chateau Hotel de la Muzelle
Responded Jul 3, 2014
Dear Madam D.S., As we are not used to receive such strong criticism, it is with a great deal of regret that we note your deception. Furthermore, throughout your stay, we realized the gap between our services and your expectation and despite our numerous requests, no complaint have been made. As customer satisfaction is our priority, we could have allocated another room for you or also changed your meal cooking. In addition, our rooms are maintained every day with professional products including professional disinfectants (bactericides and fungicides) which may have a particular smell. Our French and regional cuisine is above all traditional. It is elaborated by experimented and conscientious chefs of whom some have worked in prestigious establishments. The entirety of our meals is made from fresh products from our vegetable garden. On this basis, we guarantee healthiness and gustative quality. This establishment has been hold since five generations by a family of hoteliers and restaurateurs. Through the years we acquired an experience in customer caring, in professionalism and in service quality. We are always delighted to welcome our customers with good humor and professionalism.

We stayed 6 nights in this wunderful hotel. The traditional French kitchen is very good. The restaurant had a good selection of French wines. The rooms are a little out dated but the bed was extremely good. The last and one off the best things is the garden. And above all the very friendly and hostile family that runs the hotel.

A group of 7 of us spent an excellent week here during the Alps week of the the Tour de France in July. Chantal (the boss) and Yvette (her mother) made our stay extremely pleasant and problem free (with the help of their husbands and children). The rooms were clean with ample hot water, the food was uniformly good (and an excellent value), the grounds were cyclist friendly with an outdoor beer garden and a great overnite storage garage. The location is in a spectacular and quiet valley with great access to Alpe d"Huez, les Duex Alpes as well as hiking and a glorious ride to La Berarde. If you are looking for a friendly, comfortable, family run Chateau at a great price, which is well-situated for some of world's best cycling and hiking, you can not beat Chateau Muzelle.
