We stayed here 10 years ago and looked forward to our return. We were not disappointed. The hotel is very beautiful, lovely grounds, large rooms with big tall windows. The staff is exceptional, especially the sommelier, Simon and Beatrice. The trees around the grounds are hundreds of years old, the gardens lovely. Every care has been taken. We ate at...

Stayed here for 4 nights as a couple. Nice location, building, grounds, front-desk staff, and restaurant. The rooms have a bit of a stale smell (they should consider getting rid of the carpeting), somewhat "worn" furnishings, and half-polyester bedsheets. The bathrooms could use an upgrade (for example, the counter around the sink had large permanent stains that were off-putting). The...

Lovely locale for a heavenly, quiet two nights. Took advantage of all the offerings, including a half day guided bike ride, as well as an hour massage for each of us. Loved the whirlpool tub in our room and windows open to the garden -- birdsong was incredible at daybreak. Very comfortable rooms, terrific service at front desk and in...

We booked a suite and a double room for a family/friend trip to Normandy. The hotel itself is so beautiful and well maintained. The grounds are perfectly manicured and the front desk even has a history and nature description you can take with you on a walk around the grounds. The rooms are gorgeous and would fall in the high...

This is the way to travel! Luxurious rooms, furnishings, service. EVERYTHING just perfect. It is close to the Normandy beaches. They supply bikes and there is a bike path into town. The grounds are beautiful. We did not have time for to eat in the restaurant but it was beautiful and the menu sounded wonderful. We highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Kayne S, Thank you very much for such a wonderful comment. What a pity you had no time to try our restaurant Le Botaniste, it is for many of our guests the highlight of their trip. We look forward to welcoming you again as there is so much to do and see here in Normandy. Best regards, Françoise FAUQUET

We had the pleasure of spending three nights at this wonderful small hotel, just 29 rooms, located very conveniently to most of the D-Day memorials and sights. The rooms are very nicely appointed and there are bicycles available to use. Just a few minutes from Port en Bessin which has some nice restaurants and shops.

Cheneviere is an elegant property, set in gorgeous grounds (with mazing trees, an arborist fantasy really), in a perfect location for exploring Normandy. Every little detail is done right. Every touch is perfect. The staff is marvelous (special shout out to Beatrice, who oversees breakfast, but everyone there was superb). It is elegant and there is some sense of formality,...

We stayed here for 4 nights in May. We were touring all the D-day sites and the Chateaus location could not have been better. My wife was leery of all the WW2 places I wanted to visit. The hotel setting is fabulous. It's quiet, welcoming and one of the best hotels we have visited in years. Everything was first class from the staff to the accommodations. The restaurant although expensive was also a delightful experience.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set close to Omaha Beach and the historic town of Bayeux, Port en Bessin conceals a treasure that lies at the end of a long drive " Chateau La Cheneviere ". Impeccable lawns, ancient trees and a charmingly old fashioned rose garden... arriving on the estate is like strolling onto the lands of an English Lord who fell under the spell of Calvados region. The manor appears at last, a dignified Norman edifice from the 18th century, it combines the charms of an old house with the conveniences of a cosy English Manor. Add to that an opulent interior, spacious, elegant bedrooms. The dining room, overlooking the park, has a certain grandeur on an intimate scale, while classic cuisine allows you to explore all the distinctive flavours of Normandy, a generous and distinguished cuisine based on delicious local produce, faultless service, a heated outdoor pool, a splendid terrace, and the picture is complete... ... more   less
