Mid september, we stayed as couple 7 nights in Chateau La Cheveniere. Our general impression and conclusion is clear : a real 5 stars stay. All services were of high quality : room, breakfast "en chambre", staff, swimmingpool, gardens, silence, atmosphere, other clients.... : difficult to find better. Only one weak point was the flexibility and the choices for dinner in the only open restaurant "Le petit Jardin" : only 3 entrees and 3 plats. If you stay several nights, you have to eat several times the same dishes.
last minute plan to leave the city for a few days... and @chateaulacheneviere was our perfect home away from home secluded but accessible. grand but welcoming. the smiley staff makes it so.they know you by name after the first night.you can swim, hike, bike or play tennis on the property.but if you just want to relax with a book and a drink, you can plop yourself in any one of the several charming corners of the chateau with all the greenery and the sounds of birds.... everyday when we would be back from a whole day of museum visits or sun&sand, the entryway was always a welcoming, relaxing sight.loved it! it screams -‘ you’re home, baby!’?🤣 more of the chateau.plus the vegetable garden for their Le Petit Jardin and La Botaniste restaurants (Michelin 🌟unfortunately temporarily closed due to current health crisis).... *i don’t know about you guys but water pressure in my hotel shower matters to me, big time😄and this one did not disappoint👌🏽! also, there’s a hand-held shower plus a rain shower head! plush huge towels and slippers. one thing though, no robes. son didn’t have one in his room as well😳 i forgot to ask too😜 oh well. *front desk staff were helpful with reco tours and restos.also immediately replies to email messages.whole staff&crew wears masks all the time, everywhere. photos all mine.…
I have visited La Cheneviere a number of times over the years and have to say that despite reduced staffing due to Covid-19, it is remarkable how well maintained the hotel and its grounds are. The new Jardin restaurant (the main gastronomic restaurant remains closed) is superb and the food is very good indeed. The new set-up with the pool there is a great place to hang out for hotel guests. The Jardin is buzzing with activity. A recent review by Jan V is totally unfair. The complaint about the breakfast price being too high and dishes being overpriced shows a lack of understanding of pricing in that region. A quick review of the breakfast prices around ( The Mercure nearby for example) and the price is identical although the place does not match the Jardin environment in the least! As to other food, we had Dinner at La Marine in Port en Bessin and the price for the meal was identical to the one we had the night before at the Jardin. Our stay was flawless and despite understaffing, we felt the 5 star treatment all the way with staff remembering our name and being very kind and indulgent. Highly recommended either way!!!…
I stayed at this hotel with my wife and cute new puppy and we absolutely just loved every minute of it. The staff was friendly, the rooms are greatly decorated, the food was just superbe and my wife is the biggest foodie. Loved the decoration touches which is a perfect mix of French classic mixed with British style and a touch of soho farmhouse.
we know five star hotels; This is rated as one but is not worth it; We understand that corona has an effect on service, but nevertheless. Breakfast is incredible!! 18 euro's for a half glas of juice, a coffee, some bread and marmelade, butter; you want extra: fruit plate =12 euro's (with almost nothing on), meat plate 12 euro (some unappetizing thick sliced raw bacon), cheese platter 12 euro (6small pieces of cheese, not even from Normandy....). Bar open untill 21.30??? come on..... very dark room, my daughter had a towel with some minor blood stains on it: she threw it on the floor to be replaced: all they did was fold it again and left it in the room. Never again and certainly not worth the money.
