Just returned from holidaying at Hotel Vills Bacchus in Baska Voda. A delightful small fishing village about an hour's drive from Split Airport.Being the first time we've visited this area of Croatia we were pleasantly surprised.A very clean hotel with staff all of them who went beyond the call of duty to make you feel welcome especially Sylvia.I cannot comment on the evening meal because we only had bed and breakfast of which there was plenty of choice. The surrounding areas are filled with bars and restaurants a choice for all and the local people are very friendly especially if you learn a little bit of local language things like good morning and thank you.Definately a place to return to.
This hotel is ideally situated in the center of the most beautiful bay which is Baska Voda (pronounced Bashka Voda). A good number of the rooms overlook the sea, many with balconies. The hotel also provide an indoor swimming pool and sauna in the basement. But with the most inviting option being the sea, 75 meters away, we found no need of this facility. Without exception all the staff were very polite, courteous and helpful During our two week stay in a very comfortable room (with balcony) on the second floor the hotel appeared to cater mainly for walking groups, we saw both English and German groups, who appeared to be staying for 1 week on half board basis. The hotel did not provide a lunchtime service, which in all respects was not necessary due to the large number of sea front restaurants, bars, and ice cream parlours all of which were of a very high standard and suitably appointed. Due to groups pre- selecting their evening meals at the beginning of the day the hotels menu was somewhat limited for other guests. This may in part be due to the quantity and quality of the local competition. Breakfast was adequate with the usual Mediterranean fayre. One other aspect of the hotel was its bar which was situated on the ground floor at the back of the building. The bar was decorated in dark brown paneling making it feel somewhat drab and dreary. Hence we chose our balcony for pre dinner drinks whilst watching the sun disappear over the horizon. You will obviously notice that, in spite of its many positive attributes and our enjoying our stay, I have only scored the hotel, which is stated to be 4*, as average. This is due merely that it could do with a bit of a makeover and dragging itself into the 21st century.…
Small hotel, clean and very friendly and serviceminded staff. Room with beachsite through the pines! Recommended if you are not in need of big pools and sundecks! Breakfast includes all you need! Restaurant with a la carte. Halfbord can be ordered.
I came here for just over a week with my girlfriend last month and it was a very pleasurable stay. The location is great (very close to shops and beaches). The rooms were kept clean and the staff were friendly. Silvia and Matej were in particular very helpful. The food was lovely.
We spent 11 days at Villa Bacchus and were generally very impressed. The staff were delightful - special thanks to Sylvie and Kim, who could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Hotel is spotlessly clean, Housekeeping were efficient and unobtrusive. Decor is solid, quality and classic - some lovely seating in quiet corners. Location is great - hotel occupies a corner spot at the end of a rather frenetic ‘strip’ which means it will not be further surrounded by more building. Terrace is lovely but possibly a little underused? The room we had was a great size, only niggle was no kettle and tea/coffee making facilities, though when we requested hot water, milk etc the staff provided this so we were able to have a drink sitting on our balcony in the evening. Excellent air conditioning was a real bonus and essential- temperatures were in the mid 30’s for the duration of our stay. Please note there is no swimming pool, only a tiny plunge pool in the basement as part of the ‘spa’ facility. We were B&B - the breakfast was perfectly adequate but the same fayre was repeated every day. Baska Voda is a tiny resort and extremely busy, so the calmness of the hotel was nice to return to both at the end of a day on the packed beach or after enjoying one of the ‘must do’ excursions. We had many questions about the area, getting around, suggestions of places to eat etc and the reception staff never failed to answer and their recommendations never disappointed. We had a wonderful time and loved the beautiful coastline and the history on offer in some fabulous towns! Thank you to all at Villa Bacchus - Ann & Jacqui.…
