This was a very nice hotel outside the town of Monte Verde. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast for $$8.50 was very good. It is near a small shopping center and a vista point with views of the Pacific. Not fancy, but definitely comfortable, and a very good value. The Owner is very accommodating and some of the rooms have multiple beds, making it a good place for several friends or a Family.

We were determined to explore Monteverde during this trip and found easy booking with Historias Lodge. We were promptly checked in, given access to the free wifi and led to our room which had 3 full beds, a nice full bathroom and a lounging/eating area with a table, quite spacious. The price was very reasonable compared to many of the other locations we looked at before booking. The room was well kept and clean. The view from our room looked out over the mountains and the village of Santa Elena, and what a great view it was. Our room looked out over the courtyard which had several tables and was a nice place to gather for a cocktail. Our host, I believe his name was Louis, was incredibly helpful and when one of the neighbors spotted a sloth, he escorted us down a nearby path so

Stayed at this hotel in October 2018. I personally think this is the best at the price range. The room was spacious , very clean and tidy with all amenities. The owner operator was always there to ensure customers need are met and she is really friendly. On our first day of arrival she even made us free coffee and some snacks in the cafe, which we greatly appreciate. This is a great place to stay, feels almost like a retreat on the beautify and scenic Monte Verde. If I ever go back I will stay at this hotel again. Thank you very much for making us felt welcome. If you are a dog lover, make sure you give Lucho the resident pup a friendly pet or two. Well done for keeping the place so nice for customers.

Overall this is a decent place to stay if you’re looking for something clean and reasonably priced. My room (#18) was on the second floor. I had no issues with water pressure, and the room was spacious and clean. The walls, however, are paper thin, so I could hear my neighbors chatting well into the night. Made it difficult to sleep. I also had a plumbing issue with the shower; could turn it on with no problem, but was very difficult to get the water to stop running when I tried shutting it off. Otherwise, the breakfast is great and plentiful. The hotel is a small hike from the main downtown area, or $3 by taxi. A grocery store is very close so it’s easy to stock up on water, etc. if needed.

If you look for a special place to stay in Santa Elena, this is your place. Great cabins. Great breakfast. Great location, close to everything. Super friendly owner, Lucho, will make sure you have the most pleasant stay in Santa Elena. I love supporting businesses that are run by local people and this is the best I have found in the area!

Spent two nights here as part of intrepid group. Our room was downstairs, right next to reception. Large, double room. Clean and comfortable. Big bed. Functional, clean bathroom. Enjoyed the hotel cat! It is a steep walk back from town but doable with reasonable fitness. Plenty of options for cars back if a night time.

Stayed here for 3 nights .Very beautiful gardens .Quiet at night and very comfortable beds .It is a short walk down hill to the nearby town ....but it is definitely worth asking the hotel for a ride back ;unless you are on a fitness kick .

We stayed here for two nights at the end of March. We absolutely loved the hotel, it was really cosy and felt more like staying in a woodland cabin than a hotel due to the furniture and view of the garden. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were impeccable with their attentiveness. Typically costa rican in their excellent service!! The hotel is a bit of a walk up a hill from santa elena but everywhere in monte verde is hilly! Tours for canopies/zip lines will pick you up directly from your hotel and you can walk into santa elena for dinner. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we would definitely come back again.

We stayed for three nights as part of a tour round CR and this was our best room - huge with four beds and a sitting area inside the room, as well as our own balcony with seats. We had quite a nice view out over the cloud forest. The bath was big enough for at least two, possible four (we didn't test that!). Although not far, it is an effort to walk back to the hotel from the town centre as it is steep uphill but taxis were cheap ($1 per person). There are restaurants, supermarkets and bakeries close by to the hotel.
