This is a truly wonderful place to stay. We stayed in the family house (upgraded by the wonderful owner Christian) and had absolutely everything we needed. The house is beautiful and comfortable with these best views ever across the Monteverde cloud forest. We stayed 2 nights and were sad to leave. Its around $3-4 dollars for a taxi into Santa Elena but that's if Christian doesn't give you a lift! It's possible to walk too. We did several activities in Monteverde which we discussed with Christian and he booked for us. He also recommended some restaurants which we tried, and the food was delicious. There's a supermarket just across the road and ample cooking facilities, so you don't have to eat out if you don't want to. We can't speak highly enough about Rainbow Valley Lodge and it's owner Christian and if we ever come back to Monteverde, we will be staying here for longer!

Excellent lodge with a kitchen, large bathroom, 2 large separate bedrooms with double beds and two extra beds in the room itself. The view from the bedrooms was breathtaking and we saw a double rainbow the second day we were here. Must have something to do with the name of the lodge.

We got there after a long and dusty drive from the La Fortuna Area. Found the place quite easily and check in was easy also. Anna at reception was very friendly and helpful and explained the area, the house, the map and places in town. The rooms are big, as are the beds. The bathroom had tiny ants invading through the showerhead one day, but in such a nice remote setting I would say you can expect some bugs to be around, so it was not an issue. Facilities were perfect, cooking, coffee machine, coffee, fridge was all there and there is a little supermarket just across the road, enough to easily sort yourself for breakfast and snacks anyway. The view from the veranda is absolutely amazing. The walk to Santa Elena is about 15 minutes and while parts are a bit uphill, it's an easy walk. Might be a good idea to bring a flashlight though! Anna and the other man at reception both helped us out with our onward trip. We were planning on driving to Santa Teresa the whole way, while they recommended to take the ferry on account on a much longer stretch of dirt roads on our original route. It was great advice and the ferry was a very good idea. Definitely recommended!

Unbelievable views, beautiful and cleans rooms, and really helpful and accommodating staff, including the owner, Christian. We loved our time here, and especially enjoyed spending time on the covered patio watching the birds soaring over the valley. The weather was mostly dry during our stay, but one evening a heavy rainstorm fell, and it was magical to sit outside on the covered patio in the center of the storm, but stay completely dry The room was immaculate, with extra blanket and pillow in case we needed it, plus a safe and really cool stone shower. We had an amazing time. It was our first stop on our trip, and we couldn't have been any happier. The views really cannot be overstated. In addition, on our first night there, Anna checked us in and set up a tour for the following morning at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve with a tour guide named Adam. It was a tremendously awesome experience! Below is a review of this experience: The Monte Verde Cloud Forrest is made even more stunning and enchanting if you go on a tour with Adam “el Chino,” as he is known by the other tour guides. Adam is passionate about the fauna and flora of the forrest. He is able to spot the shyest of birds and butterflies, capture their glory with his telescope with enough time for all on the tour to look through and photograph/video through. Adam works with local organization to plant wild avocado trees which nourish the resplendent quetzal (we saw three on the first 15 minute of our tour with him) so he is knowledgeable about the conservation history of the area. In addition to his extensive knowledge he is humble, pleasant accommodating, and will answer any questions you might have unless he hears a bird in the distance.
