The staff was super friendly and welcoming at this lodge. They always made a point to show us interesting animals and birds that were around the lodge. They also set up any activities and called taxis as needed. A taxi to town was about $6. Breakfast was included and was good. Dinner was good but expensive in the restaurant. We... More

We (I) have stayed here often over the years, including on our honeymoon eight years ago. Staying here is always the highlight of our trips. Food is great, hospitality is the best. We appreciate that it is a bit off the grid (not bad), just tucked back in the cloud forest, which we value. Wilberth the GM is simply the... More

Basic rooms (cabins), but clean. Bed was very hard and the wind rattles the tin roof at night, so you tend not to get a lot of sleep. The breakfast was average and the evening meal in the restaurant was adequate , but it's worth paying the taxis fare of $6 each way into town where the food is cheaper... More

WE stayed here 2 nights in March. Staff was great - couldn't ask for better. Rooms were really basic but very spacious considering we were a family of 5. Beds and pillows weren't that comfortable though. Winds howled at night so not easy to sleep. Food was good and was not expensive. A large pasta dish was $9. Location is... More

Stood there for one night in March...service at the reception was very friendly and surrounding was great...on the downside: rooms are pretty dark and fusty (humidity is normal in the rain forest though) and the restaurant was really expensive (it was our first night in CR so we were a bit naive)...better and cheaper Restaurants in town

The Cloud Forest Lodge is a magical place to stay if you really want to immerse yourself in that very special part of the Costa Rica. Close to all the amenities and tours and yet perched up in its own grounds so you really feel you are living in the forest. In the end we realised that two days were... More

This was the ultimate eco lodge literally hidden in a remote area of mountains within the cloud forest. It was quite windy and frequently wet and when it rained it meant it with the consequence that some of the trail walks managed to soak you, and everything else, right through - the trouble was there were no drying facilities and... The cabins here are two rooms. No TV or fridge, but that's o.k.--you're here for the nature. Sit out on the porch in the evening and relax. Four or five different trails to hike on the property. A few types of animals (Marcelo the pizote seemed to be kind of a mascot) and birds. I guess it's a big birder... More

Lodge is located in a nice garden area, lots of nose bears in the neighbourhood. Too bad the weather was bad, lots of rain and wind. Restaurant has good food and a great view. Staff was nice and friendly.

I have to say that I liked the rain forest/cloud forest better than the beaches! When we pulled in to the hotel, I thought, this is awesome. The restaurant is nice but waaaaay overpriced. For a $6 cab ride, you'll go to town and find several restaurants that are better and less expensive. They have their own zip line too.... More
