We stayed for two nights and one night would have been sufficient. The staff were great. Particularly the young lady on reception who looked after us at the hotel. The room was very basic and very clean but in a row of others. You are constantly disturbed by neighbour's either

We stayed here for 2 nights in February. The drive in to Monteverde was an experience - very bumpy, unpaved roads. We arrived at the hotel and checked in. Karolay at the front desk was very helpful and polite. Our room had three beds in it and was very large even though it was

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at The Rustic Lodge which was part of our tour around Costa Rica. The rooms were simple and the service of the staff was friendly. We found it an easy straightforward walk to Santa Elena where we were able to purchase the various adventures

Good location and located walking distance to downtown Santa Elena (although it's an uphill walk on the way back). The staff was very friendly. The rooms were basic, but comfortable. The one downside was breakfast. You are given a plate of fruit and 1 choice for breakfast

Hi: How far is the lodge from the Cloud forest?
Monteverde is the cloud forest. Santa Elena is the town. 15 minute drive at best to some of the bigger parks, but there are smaller reserves with in walking distance.

Is there laundry service?
Yep - the laundry service was great. They charged us about $7 to clean as many clothes as we could stuff into a bag!

What time is breakfast? We are visiting in April and have a 7 a.m. tour organised.
If I remember correctly its served between 6 a.m. and 8:30. I would highly recommend trying the "salsa" condiment as its the only place in the world to get it - 500 in local currency. A couple of things we found out the hard way - few taxis will allow you to use credit card so I highly recommend carrying US and local currency - 1.5 miles is about 8 USD or 3.8 in local currency. If you pay in USD in a taxi they will convert it at 1 USD equal 500 in local. Make sure to bring a master card as I could not find an atm that would accept a visa. Jose at the Rustic Lodge is AMAZING. If possible I would highly recommend eating at a place called "taco" "taco (its a local place that caters to expats. There is a pizzeria that serves a "Mexican pizza" truly one of the most awesome things I have ever had, so good. You will not need a converter or plug-ins for electronics in Costa Rica. The water is safe to drink and taste amazing, its looks cloudy at first but then everything settles down. If you plan to buy any gifts and what Costa Rica is unbelievably expensive; all meals will cost at least 3500 per person in local currency and a soda will range from 800 to 1000 in local currency.

"Avoid room 3. Even with the bed fixed, the twin is in an airless alcove. Room 6 is beautiful, but up a steep ramp and stairs."
"Bring warm clothes and be prepared for a 1 in 3 hill walk back from town"
"Try for a room at the front."
"clean, quiet, great service"
"All rooms quiet"
