Our family of 5 stayed at Cabinas Capulin between 5-8 January. We enjoyed the location, and the very friendly and helpful staff. We shared a kitchen with the adjacent cabina. All facilties (rooms and shared kitchen) were very clean and well kept. We recommend this location without hésitation.

We loved our stay in cabin 8 at Cabinas Capulin! Our family of 6 had plenty of space for all, and even a kitchen where we cooked several meals. We ate breakfast at the hotel and thought it was great. The hotel was very helpful in arranging tours both on and off the property. We did the night hike offered by the hotel and it was well done and showed us how alive the forest is at night. We walked into town a few times for meals and exploring. It is a decent walk, but do-able. A cab ride back one night when it was pouring was only $4-5. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

We just loved our stay at Cabinas Caplin and Farm. The cabins were luxurious, the forest trails were well-maintained, and the breakfast were to DIE for! We found the porch particularly inviting! And don't forget to say hi to the local dog! Definitely going back ;)

The wonderful family that owns and runs this place have preserved a large area of their property as a forest reserve, and the walk through the reserve is a delight at any time of day -- at least for those who enjoy seeing massive trees, coatimundi families, motmots, toucanets, and dozens of other birds. The excellent breakfasts are made with produce from this very property. The sunsets are amazing, looking west towards the Pacific. And the price is very reasonable. We loved it here and hope to return. But be aware: it's not in the centre of Santa Elena (let alone Monteverde itself) and if you don't like walking, or prefer to be amid the hubbub of hostels and restaurants, this place is not for you.

Our cabin was close to the reception, so the way to the breakfast was short! Nice cabin, clean with a small fridge and 5 beds. In front of the hose is a small garden and it is quite relaxing to sit on the bank in the sunset and gaze at the ocean, the mountains and the forest... The shower is like in many other places heated with a kind of "instant hot water" system so don't expect too much from the bathroom! Don't forget that temperatures may be quite low... In front of the cabins is the start of a very nice tour in the forest. The breakfast is good; you have to choose between some proposals of which is the traditional Casta-Rican plate. From the cabins, it is not a long drive to the town, ideal for dinner.
