We loved staying at Cabinas Capulin! The cabins are secluded so you have peace and quiet while enjoying great views of the landscape. There are great trails around the property for exploring and the Tico family owners are welcoming and serve a yummy breakfast! We look forward to returning!
Our family of 5 stayed at Cabinas Capulin between 5-8 January. We enjoyed the location, and the very friendly and helpful staff. We shared a kitchen with the adjacent cabina. All facilties (rooms and shared kitchen) were very clean and well kept. We recommend this location without hésitation.
We loved our stay in cabin 8 at Cabinas Capulin! Our family of 6 had plenty of space for all, and even a kitchen where we cooked several meals. We ate breakfast at the hotel and thought it was great. The hotel was very helpful in arranging tours both on and off the property. We did the night hike offered by the hotel and it was well done and showed us how alive the forest is at night. We walked into town a few times for meals and exploring. It is a decent walk, but do-able. A cab ride back one night when it was pouring was only $4-5. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.
We just loved our stay at Cabinas Caplin and Farm. The cabins were luxurious, the forest trails were well-maintained, and the breakfast were to DIE for! We found the porch particularly inviting! And don't forget to say hi to the local dog! Definitely going back ;)
The wonderful family that owns and runs this place have preserved a large area of their property as a forest reserve, and the walk through the reserve is a delight at any time of day -- at least for those who enjoy seeing massive trees, coatimundi families, motmots, toucanets, and dozens of other birds. The excellent breakfasts are made with produce from this very property. The sunsets are amazing, looking west towards the Pacific. And the price is very reasonable. We loved it here and hope to return. But be aware: it's not in the centre of Santa Elena (let alone Monteverde itself) and if you don't like walking, or prefer to be amid the hubbub of hostels and restaurants, this place is not for you.
Our cabin was close to the reception, so the way to the breakfast was short! Nice cabin, clean with a small fridge and 5 beds. In front of the hose is a small garden and it is quite relaxing to sit on the bank in the sunset and gaze at the ocean, the mountains and the forest... The shower is like in many other places heated with a kind of "instant hot water" system so don't expect too much from the bathroom! Don't forget that temperatures may be quite low... In front of the cabins is the start of a very nice tour in the forest. The breakfast is good; you have to choose between some proposals of which is the traditional Casta-Rican plate. From the cabins, it is not a long drive to the town, ideal for dinner.
There were 4 of us traveling in October. We enjoyed the cleanliness of our cabina (wood floors were so clean had to walk carefully!) The staff was very accommodating. They quickly came to change a burnt out lightbulb. They also were very helpful in helping us choose our excursions. I would absolutely return!!! Oh, the trail they have on property is a must hike!! It is truly beautiful!!!
I stayed here for two nights this week and was blown away by how beautiful the grounds and rooms were for the price. This is true value for your money. My girlfriend and I had stayed at another lodge in town for twice the price and it wasn't even close to as nice as this place. The wooden rooms are simple, clean and spacious enough. The WiFi works. The showers have hot water. And the views from the private balconies are perfect for enjoying a sunset or passing storm. Would absolutely stay here again.
Lovely place, cabin 4 was very private with lovely views. Perfect location if you are going to sky adventures and Monteverde. Easy commute to either of the above. Lovely hosts and beautiful scenic surroundings. Would recommend this cabin for a short stay. Comfortable beds. Fridge a bit noisy so worth mentioning but you can turn it off if not in use.
We really enjoyed our stay at Cabinas Capulin. It’s a bit outside Santa Elena but an easy 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk to town. Setting is beautiful and the cabinas are basic but just what we needed. The breakfasts were delicious as well.
