I'd give 4 stars for the service and complimentary breakfast, but 2 stars for the uncomfortable beds and the location. There's something like a trash prcessing facility behind the hotel, barking dogs off and on through the night and we were glad we had a car because it would have felt a little sketchy walking to town in the dark.

The rooms here are spacious and have all your basic needs covered but don't expect anything fancy. The hotel is run by a family that really care about making your stay special. Breakfast was really good..we chose the traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Owner speaks English. You can walk to town which is close by but I recommend taking a taxi...

We had a lovely stay at Monteverde Villa Lodge. The property is small, but that was all we needed. The rooms were large and clean with a kitchenette. The breakfast was amazing. And the staff was wonderful and helpful.

My boyfriend and I traveled all around Costa Rica for about 10 days and Monteverde Villa Lodge was by far the best place that we stayed at. The room was spacious and impeccably clean, the surrounding area was quiet and peaceful and the employees at the lodge were so friendly and accommodating. The breakfast included in the stay was AMAZING!...

My fiancé and I stayed here for three nights, and the owners could not have been more kind and helpful. We originally planned to stay four nights but needed to leave early. They were so sweet and helped arrange this change of plans, from transportation pickup to letting us use their phone to call another hotel. This was my first...

Heiner and his family run a very nice hotel in Santa Elena. The whole family has been very friendly and helpful around everything - arranging trips, communication, etc. We went to a bird watching tour in the cloud forest reserve that was tailored to our needs (most importantly we spotted the Quetzal ;-)) Wifi is good and stable - there...

The owners of his lovely lodge are very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to get us transport. The cabins are lovely, clean and spacious. The common area is gorgeous with paintings and hand made tables. Great breakfast and coffee. Also in a quiet location but an easy walk to town. Parking for those who need it.

This review is a little late, we stayed at the Monteverde Villa Lodge over the Christmas holiday. We loved this hotel. The location was a quick walk to town and the rooms were huge! Heiner and his family went out of their way to make our stay great. They booked a few sightseeing trips and recommended different restaurants to try....

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here. We stayed a week, enjoying the available activities in and around Monteverde. We had a private, stand alone cabana that was very comfortable, clean and quite spacious. We loved the breakfast and coffee or tea was available throughout the day. It was an easy walk to town for supplies or to...

Property is the best it can be, considering its location in a sketch part of sketch Santa Elena. In March it was choking with dust from all the limestone roads, very windy, noisy day and night with LOUD unmuffled motorcycles (the main transport for locals), with barking neighbor dogs all night, every night. This is no quiet, restful rainforest stay!...
