The hotel is a little out of Santa Elena but only about 10 minutes walk or so. Some of that is on a road with no pavement so after dark we opted for a taxi which was only 1,000 colones (<$2) each way. The rooms were nice but the garden was a bit of a disappointment to me having been...

We never would have found this place if it wasn't recommended to us, but it was a wonderful find! The room was very beautiful and clean but the best part was Heiner and his family. They were extremely welcoming, friendly, and took care of everything we needed. They helped book excursions for us, recommended activities to do, and even brought...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights during our tour of Costa Rica. The place is small and very comfortable and we slept really well each night. Our family hosts were warm, welcoming and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble and they were happy to replace towels when requested and even to dry some of our very wet...

Felt very safe in this small hotel. Heiner and his family were great and provided any info needed to get around area. Breakfast was good and overall the hotel was great for the price. Would stay here again if I visit again.

Heiner, the owner, is an incredibly kind and friendly man, who looked after us very well. Thank you Heiner! Great breakfast and lovely gardens surrounding the cabins. Unfortunately, we barely slept for the first 2 nights of the 3-night stay, due to dogs barking loudly and very loud noise from the wind. But perhaps this is a problem everywhere in...

Nothing fancy, but clean and very friendly, helpful staff/owners. The breakfast was great... Fresh fruit plate, eggs, pancakes, toast... Or a traditional breakfast. Great coffee and the kids liked their hot chocolate. Stayed with my extended family so we had 3 rooms, 2 rooms had a fridge, one also had a microwave, but one room had neither. A good place...

I'd give 4 stars for the service and complimentary breakfast, but 2 stars for the uncomfortable beds and the location. There's something like a trash prcessing facility behind the hotel, barking dogs off and on through the night and we were glad we had a car because it would have felt a little sketchy walking to town in the dark.

The rooms here are spacious and have all your basic needs covered but don't expect anything fancy. The hotel is run by a family that really care about making your stay special. Breakfast was really good..we chose the traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Owner speaks English. You can walk to town which is close by but I recommend taking a taxi...

We had a lovely stay at Monteverde Villa Lodge. The property is small, but that was all we needed. The rooms were large and clean with a kitchenette. The breakfast was amazing. And the staff was wonderful and helpful.
