We had a fantastic stay at Tango Mar. What a great find ! Great service, very good food and al fresco dining (what else did you expect from a Belgian owner !), large and clean rooms, good recommendations for day trips (the hike in Curu wildlife reserve was really beautiful with a lot of wildlife all around), good surfing closeby in Santa Teresa, a very beautiful waterfall that drops into the sea at sunset, a nice beach in front of the hotel; and overall a very relaxing atmosphere in the hotel. We also enjoyed the drive through Nicoya peninsula to get there. We hope to be back !

We spent just one night here, but we wish we could have stayed longer. It was so beautiful and relaxing. The views were amazing. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only concern was in connection with the breakfast buffet. The food and the selection were great. However, there was no sneeze guard. In these days of corona virus, I would feel better if the buffet had a sneeze guard. And perhaps it would be better to have someone serving the buffet so that each one of are not touching the serving spoons. Still, this was a wonderful place.

At the end of a Costa Rica tour (Sunvil), we stayed 4 nights in a Deluxe Beachfront room in a recently built block of six rooms. The room was large with modern, walk-in shower, coffee machine (no kettle) and usual products although no shower gel - just soap. Comfortable balcony with stunning, uninterrupted sea views with accompanying sound of the waves crashing onto the beach. This is a stunning location but unless you have a car, you are committed to eating in the restaurant each night which is very expensive - there is no alternative - not even pizza available. The site has been developed over the years so, unfortunately, what looks like the original accommodation block is rather grim - with blocks of various design throughout the site. Also, the swimming pools are fairly small and it was difficult to find a sunbed during the weekend - weekdays were less busy. The beachbar was pretty basic with very plain toasted sandwiches charged at $18! Really? You can walk to a waterfall and a stunning Look Out point within the grounds and you will see monkeys, iguanas and an exotic array of birds without much effort. This could be a stunning retreat with some investment to upgrade all of the accommodation blocks and the grounds - there was a slightly shabby feel about it. Also, as cars are allowed to park near the rooms - it had the feel of a motel with the rough gravel paths uncomfortable to walk on. Cars should be parked elsewhere with buggies ferrying guests and luggage to rooms.

Room Tip: A room in more modern Deluxe Beachfront block means that no one passes your room.

Stayed here for four nights at the end of our Costa Rica tour. Stayed in the Robinson Crusoe villa as we were two families. It has two bed rooms, two bathrooms a kitchen and gorgeous veranda with hammocks giving a welcome respite from the sun. The view of the ocean from the property is amazing and it also has a private hot tub. The grounds are beautiful walks to a view point and waterfall. Lovely swimming pools and the restaurant was good for evening meals but breakfast buffet was average compared to other places we have stayed. My only complaint was that we didn’t realise how remote the hotel was. We arrived by private transfer from out previous hotel and so had no car. There are no local taxis, to get to the nearest village 4km away the hotel transportation costs $15 each way and to the nearest town 10km away $30 each way which we felt was a bit of a rip off

We enjoyed our stay so much. Tango mar is the perfect get-away! Very relaxing but at the same time so much to do! In the resort we saw monkeys, coatis, aras, hummingbirds, turtles… Hilde and the whole tango Mar team gave us the most extraordinary time. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. Never been to a resort with that high quality of food, it was delicious every day! The hotel is located at the beach, so we were able to wake up every morning with a breathtaking view. See you next year!
