Just awful as a female solo traveller didn’t get a good feel about it when I arrived. At about 10pm having just arrived back at my room so hadn’t locked up yet as sat on terrace a man opened my room &looked in & closed door quickly nothing else said when asked about it in the morning was told security man by mistake by manager who thought it was funny If so why didn’t he knock - felt very uneasy then 2 make cleaners out in terrace ‘cleaning’ as I was getting up. No light in bathroom. So I couldn’t leave quick enough following day they said they ordered a taxi but 1hr on still waiting 😡😡 DO NOT STAY HERE
This place is the best! Very quiet place and very close to the beach.. Very very friendly staff who would do anything to comply with your needs. Food was excellent but i think a little over priced. Rooms are in excellent conditions and would highly recommend it for sure! The owner is very friendly and flexible and stayed with us during drinking and eating sessions - a person who values customers and knows what he is doing!
We don't recommend you to visit beach bar if you have basic needs of service. We are very disappointed with quality of beach bar service, one of our girls came crying because of waiters laugh at her for no reason and then the guy from the bar rude asked us to leave, we tried understand what the reason of that anger and asked to call manager, but ~5 minutes they shauted at us and finally manager came. We don't recommend you to visit this place if you have basic needs of service.
The restaurant team were great and the service was fantastic. A special mention to the chef as he went above and beyond to make sure I enjoyed my meal. I am British but my family is Sri Lankan and I have been here a few times and appreciate the care and effort the team put in. Thanks again and see you soon!
Go somewhere else Cannot trust this hotel. I booked this hotel well in advance. The hotel manager said that he has not uploaded the rates and asked me to cancel the booking on 31st Dec. 2019. But I didn’t. I want to keep the booking. Then on 11th Jan 2020 they cancelled my booking saying that credit card detail incorrect. But it is not correct reason. I am using booking, com since Jan 2017 and using the same credit card which I registered in booking.com account. So the reason given by the hotel is false and if I go to stay there it would not be a happy environment. I will find another hotel. and I would like to forward my experience to all the readers and say go away from doggie hotels like Peacock Beach Hotel Unawatuna.
The location i great right on the beach. The service a below what you would expect given the price and the rooms are not cleaned every day. In general it feels like the are trying to save in on everything. The resturant is really bad but there is a really good one right next to it. The breakfast is terrible so do not pay for it.
Location was pretty good spot and got a upgraded to a nicer room, although no sea view which we asked for. Staff was useless - stayed 3 nights and no room Service or fresh towels we had to ask for towels and a clean. They even struggled to give us a beach towels due to laundry. They seemed very unorganised with a lot of finer details - so if can fix this part up may have somewhat potential
It was over New Year, and out first choice directly on the beach was fully booked. The Peacock Hotel had a vacancy, so we grabbed it. in three or four days nobody came to clean our room, or even sweep the balcony. The owner of the hotel routinely abused his staff both verbally and physically...on New Year's Eve he had a very nice lady in tears with his verbal tirade. I complained and discovered that this poor lady was the monstrous owner's wife. The staff all accept this appalling behaviour, shrugging it off , "Oh him ? He's the owner, that's just the way he is.". This is not a hotel...this is a fourth rate restaurant with some very low grade unserviced rooms masquerading as a hotel. The breakfast is absolute rubbish...Don't make the mistake I did and pay for breakfast up front. After the first day, we bought our own from a local supermarket and ate it with their thin white toast. Avoid this place as if your life depended on it...Oh, and by the way, it was pretty much the most expensive hotel that we have stayed in so far on this trip...about the same as The Marino Beach in Colombo...These people really know how to gouge !…
