We have been here 3 times. First time room 101 and the 2 last times room 109. Loved everything, staff, ambiance, food and peacefulness. However, last visit in January 2020 was a deception. Furniture on our terrace was incomplete en worst of all there was a group of Russian guests sitting all day by the pool with loud music from their ghettoblasters. Staff didn't do anything to stop them! Enough reason not to come back anymore.

We stayed there for two nights during the month of February 2021.I would say, it is absolutely a very beautiful retreat in down south. On our arrival, we were warmly welcomed and given a brief introduction about the property. They have taken all the precautions to avoid pandemic as per the guidelines given by the government at their level best and it should be appreciated. Hotel was 5 min walk to fantastic beach, shrouded in jungle trees - with monkeys scampering through the branches - fascinating to watch. There's a small / shady pool, (which could do with some of the trees over the pool cutting back to allow a bit more sun to filter through). Staff were all very helpful, smiley, happy, and conscientious. All in all ... a great place to stay!

Stayed here last week. Thank god we were booked for only one night. I guess if you are young and energetic it would be ok. When wt arrived the receptionist said We had to climb 72 stairs for one room and over 100 stairs to another. The stairs were spiral and narrow. We told the receptionist there was no way we could stay there. They managed to organise other rooms. The room we occupied had big holes in the floor. The air conditioning was leaking. The bathroom did not have a ceiling! I guess so that one can admire nature but I was just so scared that come creepy crawly would come by. There were animal noises all night long. Food was very average

We used Thambapanni Retreat in Unawatuna as a base to explore Galle, Dalawella beach, Mirissa Beach and Unawatuna. We highly recommend this hotel. It was a great place to stay. Beautiful gardens around a nice pool make it very cool in the tropical heat. Very short stroll to the beach means it is nice and quiet away from hustle and bustle (and noise.) Sitting on the verandah with a cool sea breeze looking through the forest with a troop of monkeys for company. The staff are exceptional and very friendly. The included breakfast is great. We ate dinner at the restaurant one of the nights- best chicken stir fry I have ever eaten!! Thanks Thambapanni Retreat- We would definitely stay there again. (Family with a 3year old and 1 year old)

We spend 8 days at this wonderful retreat in February. The hotel is simply the best place to relax, do yoga and enjoy the good food as well as enjoying the monkeys in the trees just above the pool. The staff is very nice and service minded. The retreat is situated in a very nice area of Unawatuna close to the Beach. We would love to come back another time.

Dear JensL1045, Thank you for your Comment, it is our pleasure to provide you a memorable and wonderful holiday experience. As you have observed, we try our best to be ecofriendly and blend into nature while making the guests comfortable. The staff who you found helpful and friendly are now working in our own garden, involved in organic farming expanding on the fresh vegetation used in food preparation at our hotels. We look forward to having your patronage.
