We are situated at the Temple end of Unawatuna Beach almost opposite the famous Kingfisher restaurant on Wella Devella road. The guesthouse is situated back from the main road amongst mature tropical trees. The rooms are large and comfortable. We must congratulate the Police as they are now enforcing the establishments close by to cease the loud music. We are now able to offer young families and older couples a very comfortable stay. All our staff take great pride in the cleaning of the rooms and to make sure that you are looked after while staying with us. At the moment we can only offer you breakfasts but we always make sure that you have enough to eat and our staff really do go out of their way to make you feel satisfied.

Detailed Reviews
We've got an very clean, big and nice room for a very reasenable price. The staff was great and very helpful. A specialy Sandun, he's a real plus for the hotel. He made up some small tuk tuk tours around the area. They owner helped us organising a good driver for our further travels. Best place to stay in Unawatuna!

We did not stay in the hotel but ate in the garden restaurant. We were drawn by the fresh fish displayed on a tray by the roadside (not available every day) that was grilled perfectly on the bbq. Not on the beachfront and priced accordingly. Ice cold beer but no wine.

Just got back from 3 weeks wonderful action packed , family holiday in Sri Lanka and this was our favourite guest house. John and Renuka are great hosts room very good and clean (most places in Sri Lanka are not I'm afraid !) Breakfast good. Colombo is really not worth wasting your time with , get the lovely train ride south and head straight to No Name Rest. Galle is very interesting and there is a lovely walk from Jungle beach back to Unawatuna. Thanks again guys - lovely to have met you and good luck for the future. - - John, Jacqui , Libby and Maddie

Hi Guys. We are all very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. It was a true pleasure having met you all, you are one very beautiful family. Please keep in touch from time to time and let us know how you are all going. It sounds like you all enjoyed your tour of this beautiful island. Take care John Renuka & staff

I’ve stayed in many places in Welladewala road but No-name rest was a nightmare. From the entrance to the room everything was a disaster. Starting with hotel owners drunk mistress, that lady has no class I came with three VIP foreign guests and this women was drunk outta her head screaming in filth and it was purely embarrassing. The washrooms didn’t have any soap and when I asked for some they had the audacity to give us all used soap. The Australian who owns the place was trying to be nice but this drunkard skank of a woman turned up to our rooms and knocked the doors during midnight. The kitchen was so not hygienic I only had one meal and rest of my days were spent in a washroom cubicle because the food was terrible. 0/10 and I do not recommend this hellhole to anyone

When will hoteliers understand that their barking guard dogs that can bite you as soon as you enter or leave your room are not very pleasant.
And they did no housekeeping when we where there, during one week.
There is no TV in the room
This could have been a nice place with more customer consideration

Firstly, the staff here were amazing and really friendly however this was the worst meal have eaten so far in Unawatuna, our fish was mushy and we were really disappointed as we had really high hopes! I'm sure this was a one off as everyone else seemed happy with their food. We couldn't eat our fish and we should have said something as I'm sure they would have changed it. On a positive, the chips and salad were great!!

Having stayed in 2 places in Unawatuna prior to this, both being less well appointed and one being 20% dearer and absolutely soulless, we had the great fortune to find this gem of a guest house on the road behind the beach. I can say that from this point on it felt like my holiday had truly begun.
The rooms are clean and amazingly spacious with aircon, satellite tv, en suite bathrooms and safe, but the best thing for me by far was the bed. it was one of the best I've ever slept on and it was huge. Apparently they were all hand made in Sri Lanka to John's specifications.
The breakfast is superb, cooked and served by Prabath, Suddi and Predeep, my favoroutie was the Sri Lankan omelette with fresh fruit (loved the bananas) and bread with generous amounts of tea, coffee and fruit juice, you can have anything from traditional Sri Lankan to scrambled eggs (my girlfriend loved this) if your less adventurous. One huge plus point with breakfast is that there is absolutely no fixed time. If you fancy a sleep in one morning and get up late, these guys will serve you breakfast. What a nice touch.
For me travelling is about connecting with people and from the moment we got here it was like being with your favourite family. John and Ren the proprietors cannot do enough to make you feel welcome (John should be employed as an ambassador of tourism by the Sri Lankan government). I feel honoured to have shared my time with the whole family whether it was playing with Danuka, Dinuka and coco the dog (Predeep's and Suddhi's wonderful sons) to going out and eating with John and Renuka to meeting Mother and Father (Rens Parents)
These guys make peoples holidays special and I can't wait to go back

+1
First of all, this is clearly the premier property in Unawatuna. It was recently built and it is impeccably maintained. It is perfectly situated at the end of Dewala road steps away from the best part of the beach. Unwatuna beach has changed a lot since the government put in a break water to protect the historic Buddhist temple on the nearby point. As a result, the beach is wide and luxurious near the hotel and back toward the main road it is almost nonexistent. The highlights of this property are as follows:
• Quiet location – the rest of Dewala road is extremely congested and noisy
• Next to the best part of the beach
• New palatial rooms with super comfortable beds, mini split air conditioning, and refrigerator.
• Super friendly staff and owners – shout out to John and Renuka (the owners) and Prabhath (customer service ambassador extraordinaire).
• Excellent included breakfast – we wanted traditional sri Lankan breakfast and they obliged with awesome fruit platters, coconut sambol, dahl, and rotis: all made fresh every morning. They also made western breakfast for other patrons.
• Ask about the Sri Lankan cooking lesson from Prabhath, it was extremely personable and informative.
We stayed here five days and felt like family. We had a room 9 on the second floor and it even had a partial ocean view through coconut palms. Bonus, John arranged a taxi back to the airport for about half of what we had to pay on the way down. I can’t say enough about this place because it really made our whole trip. Thank you ,Thank you, Thank you John, Renuka, Prabhath, and staff. We can’t wait to come back. We miss you.
P.S.
When you get to the airport don’t bother staying in Columbo, no matter what time you get in, just take a cab straight to the No Name Rest and they will help you with everything you need to know.

You guys tried to bargain a price with us, we stated our prices and after quiet sometime you decided to take a room with no breakfast & no airconditioning and no TV. You agreed to pay our asking price which was 4000/- ruppees. Later on you said that you wanted breakfast which was ok with us but as we had discussed earlier that we charge 500/- ruppees for breakfast for 2 people. For all you can eat. This works out to $1.95 US each, which we think is a very good deal. Unfortunately the following morning you demanded our worker to supply you both breakfast without paying the 500/- ruppees. Our worker did come and ask us if he needed to supply you with breakfast and we informed him yes he should if you agree to pay 500/- You refused to pay and now your upset.
