This place is definitely must go hidden gem in Unawatuna. Drive towards Mathara side passing unawatuna beach side for about a km and you will arrive at Angel Beach Hotel. You will definitely the resort ambiance as soon as you enter to the hotel. The view is breathtaking. Get ready to take a lot of photos. There is a swinger, main bar, swimming pool and pool bar as well. But you need to pay LKR500 per head to use the pool. We tried the pizza there which was soo tasty but the burger wasn’t that great. Customer service and cleanliness is satisfactory given that we went in the COVID19 period. They have a full body sanitizer Room at the entrance, so we felt safer. Prices are high comparatively but I believe it’s worth paying the cost for such location.

It's a nice looking place that is easy to get to, all local tuktuk drivers will know it.
They have great food and drinks, although they are very expensive for Sri Lanka and even Unawatuna. You can see it as if you're paying premium prices for the setting/surroundings. The beach is beautiful. There is a small DJ/live band space with a little area to dance in front. The seating and deckchairs are cool, but you pay for the best ones near the beach. The prices varied but we saw one for around 10,000lkr, but you're bill amount is deducted. In other words, if you spend 10,000 on food and drinks, then your table is free.
Unfortunately the service was non existent so you have to hunt down/call a waiter whenever you want something.
The pool with it's own pool bar was very nice.
All in all a great place, but maybe a little expensive, especially for the level of service.

After 6 weeks travelling around Asia my partner and I stayed here for 5 nights and the staff could not have made it more special, The hotel has only been open for 3 months so the rooms are incredibly modern, well maintained and clean. We had a fantastic room with a huge bathroom, walk in wardrobe and very comfortable beds. The pool was great and the day beds were our favourite. Loved that there was a live band every afternoon on the patio!!!
Breakfast was really tasty with a selection of dishes to choose from. The beach that the hotel sits upon was clean and very quiet which was a nice change from the busy Unawatuna beach a 10min walk up the road, would highly recommend staying at this wonderful hotel.
We will definitely be back!!!

Wow wow wow this hotel is the best, from the rooms, the staff, ambience, food, drink all 10 out of 10. Being a seasoned traveller I have stayed in lots of hotels all over the world, I would have to say that The Angel is in my top 5. The location of the hotel is perfect, sitting right on the beach, the swim up pool bar is a great place to chill and sip a cold drink. Ruwan who is in charge of the sun beds always made sure we had our double bed waiting for us, which was simply perfect. The food was top notch, the wood fire pizzas are fab. Nirmala is very efficient, friendly and greets you daily with her beaming smile. The management take the time out to greet all guests, which is very welcoming in a resort of this standard. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sri Lanka and will most definitely be returning to The Angel hotel which is a little piece of paradise. Thank you The Angel Hotel for a fabulous stay.

The room we stayed in was amazing, beautifully decorated and modern. However, the service at the beach club was terrible. It took over two hours to be served, staff were told we were in house guests but this did not even help. We asked numerous staff to take our order but they would tell us someone else is coming back. The organisation of the staff needs to be improved as we overheard many other guests complaining about the wait time on their orders or not being served at all. It made our experience disappointing as we would rather go to a different beach club to get service than staying at the hotel we paid for to use its facilities.

Pros Scenic views IG worthy backdrops and props Tasty meals and drinks (can expect a long delay to receive ) Good portions of rice and other food ( ordered chircken fried rice / fish and chips/ calamari battered & margarita pizza) Good changing rooms Ideal location for sea bath On entrance full body sanitising facility which was not expected at this place as not even Jetwing lighthouse has any sanitising procedure for arrivals
Cons Poor service in terms of receiving time from ordering time of food and drinks (even beer) Ordered passion fruit juice which took more than 30min to receive (could be bcz of large order numbers foot traffic ) Requested pool fee even before the usage of pool And this is not expected as a group of 13 individuals which didn’t intend to get it at the same time .. we had to convince them to take the fee after if and when whoever gets in to use the pool
Overall -Ok No fans outside under the restaurant hut or the pool beds as all natural ventilation and some areas do not receive the sea breeze
Probably best for foreigners who are looking to get tanned and feel the summer heat .
Food taste and the pool time and sometime at the beach are the plus points if e food came out swiftly at least the beers we would definitely do this place again but we won’t ..

We have been regular visitors to Angel Beach over the last couple of years but I’m afraid to say our last trip was very disappointing. We visited on the 3 rd of January hoping to enjoy a relaxed day of drinks and food. Unfortunately it seems they are still getting over a New Year’s Eve ‘hangover’ ,beds were dirty, dirty plates and glasses (clearly not from that day were on the pool bar and around the beds, drinks unavailable and a limited menu which when you finally managed to order something, bore no resemblance to the delicous food we have previously enjoyed. Many of the ingredients were missing and when the staff we’re asked for example where the avocado in the dirty Doritos was, the reply came as oh we haven’t got it, well sorry but don’t sell something if one of the vital ingredients is missing! Service was also very slow and orders mixed up or forgotten. The music which is usually fantastic was also depressing and dull. On the plus side the pizza was still delicious but come on guys things used to be much better!

We arrived at Angel Beach after cycling for more than 120Km as we came from Colombo to Galle by bicycles. Freshy welcome from the AngelBeach staff felt like we found water in the desert. I believe positve attitude of the staff is the key strength of Angel Beach and mainly superb leadership. We enjoyed mouth watering delicious food. Good Luck #AngelBeach

My partner and i stayed here for 5 wonderful nights. The rooms took our breathe away, incredibly spacious room, super comfortable bed, amazing bathroom with a shower so large you could fit 20 people in it. We wouldn't normally spend much time in our room but on this occasion we did because of its luxury feel. The room was very luxurious and by far the best resort we have ever stayed in. The staff are incredibly kind and friendly, constantly wearing a smile on their faces, we felt right at home as soon as we entered. The outdoor seating surrounding the pool and overlooking the water was awesome with many large comfortable day beds. We loved that the staff would also reserve a particular spot for you if you wished.
We ordered food and cocktails numerous times here and the food was delicious, highly recommend the passion mojitos and the homemade pizzas which were cooked in the huge pizza ovens on display.
Breakfast was great with a variety of options including fusion, srilankan and western.
We will be back!! Definitely made our stay in Unawatuna extra special!

Beautiful new concept to Sri Lanka. Amazing vibe at this place. You don’t have to book a room to chill here. You can pay 500 LKR and use the pool. Sun beds are 10K LKR for 4 people. That amount can be reimbursed with food and beverages. Good music and a lovely place to chill even if it’s all day. The sunset is right opposite the hotel and it’s a perfect set up. Very friendly staff who will go out of their way to give you what you want.
Prices of food and alcohol isn’t that bad. Cocktails are abit expensive but it’s definitely not something you can’t afford like in most hotels.
Would definitely head that way if I am to head to unawatuna
