Wonderful hidden gem in perfect location, hidden down a dirt track with the best balcony and view over Dickwella Bay. Great breakfast served on the balcony with yummy sri lankan home cooked food. Hot water shower and comfy bed... Was only meant to be here 2 nights and ended up staying 6 nights! Heavenly place with lovely service 😍

Also keine Kekse liegen lassen ;)

It’s actually called Uma’s Tree Shack, Hiriketiya…I had to add ‘with sea view’ to it as that is really what got me. To sit on that wooden balcony and gaze out to the bay with crashing waves and the coconut palms waving over the red tile roofs of the little village. And at night, the twirling light of the lighthouse at the Southern most tip of Sri Lanka added to the stars and moonlight! This wooden ‘shack’ reminded me of Rovi’s place in Nagaland and Uncle Charlie’s in Myanmar – the big difference being the view  I love the vibes of wooden shacks with big spaces that allow endless ‘just being’. The Hirikatiya beach – the new love of surfers in Sri Lanka - is less than a 10 min stroll down the hill and the others were all for hitting the beach and the waves. It’s nice on beach, no big outfits ...we had some killer juices made by a young man in his cart that acted as the kitchen and café. But for all that I had to get back on to that wooden balcony at Uma’s … It’s a very new place, the downstairs is not quite done. We spent no time there – had our breakfast (and YUMMY!) up on the balcony too. AND a peacock danced especially for us – assume so as for all his efforts no peahen seemed interested!!! Added to all this – it’s easy to get to. As my friends had gone on a few days before, I got the bus from Colombo Fort bus stand and got dropped off at Dikwella town, and walked down to Uma’s place. Bus – Expressway bus, Colombo-Kataragama. Time: 6.15am and 11.15am. From: Colombo Fort bas stand that all Southern Expressway buses leave. I just turned up and got a seat, for Rs.700. You can also book in advance – then its Rs.1000 I think. No doubt I will be heading that way again. I booked with Samitha - 0777121366
