Nestled in a picturesque setting, Pakuba Safari Lodge receives high marks for its cleanliness and comfortable rooms, complete with daily housekeeping and air conditioning. While the service is often lauded for being friendly and attentive, it's not without occasional lapses. The lodge's amenities are generally appreciated, though guests should be mindful of possible construction and power disruptions. While some guests feel the remote location adds to the lodge's charm, it may pose an inconvenience for game drives. Moreover, the value proposition is met with mixed reviews, and the atmosphere can be disrupted by kitchen noise.

This is a difficult review to write, with many conflicting emotions. We travel to Africa alot and try to ensure that any reviews we write are balanced fairly against value for money and what travellers would like to know. Firstly, the location is beautiful. It is set on the banks of the Nile with stunning panoramic views. The swimming pool is the best viewing platform but there are also rooms that boast the views too. For us, we sadly didn't get offered one of the many room with a view, our room overlooked a bank of ugly solar panels and the the back wall of the accommodation block and air conditioning units in the row infront of us. This was despite there being other rooms available during our 3 night stay. We normally like to spend a few hours each day enjoying looking forb wildlife from our balcony, which was something we clearly couldn't do here. We did mention our disappointment with the room allocation on arrival and was told that they knew it wasn't a nice room but because we had been so nice and hadnt complained, they hadn't moved us! I'm not sure that this should be the adopted practice to encourage customer satisfaction. I think the main draw here is the location, and arguably before the bridge between the south snd north banks of the park came into operation, the main reason people choose to stay here - it is after all set in the park amongst the game trails. However, having stayed both here and at Murchison River Lodge on the South of the River during our recent visit, I can say that this won't be something the lodge can continue to rely on as it's main sling point. Our experience was that you reach the better game trails quicker from the other side, than you do from here, so Pakuba now need to up their game with what they offer in comparison to other lodges. The food was edible and plentiful but once again, not as good as other places we stayed. I have to say that Junior our waiter was absolutely brilliant and he really did go the extra mile for us. He really made the difference between the 4 star rating instead of the 3 stars I was going to give. As others have mentioned, the electric is off all day, which is a bit of a nightmare if you want to leave anything on charge in your room. Even during the day, our room was very dark making it difficult to find things. The restaurant is behind the reception building, once again missing an opportunity for guests to eat their meals whilst enjoying views of the beautiful location it boasts. Our stay was certainly OK, but sadly for us, it's not a place we would return too. Having experienced what else is on offer for just a few dollars more per night, we will stay elsewhere when we return.

I went to Pakuba with family and friends, we were welcomed very nicely by the staff with cold towels to refresh our face and cold refreshing juice. The rooms are very spacious with a nice standard bathroom and bed. They also provided a fan and AC which kept us nice and cool in the night. Dinner was very balanced and delicious. Breakfast was a simple British breakfast with omlet, pancakes and sausages. Also, to accompany the food coffee and tea. The thing that shook me the most was the crafts shop which had many souvenirs and the water buck who would stay overnight just outside your porch!! it was quite an exiting experience. A big advantage is that you are already in the national park so game drives are very easy to go on especially without having to take half an hour sorting out documents at the entrance gate!! The only point of improvement is that the beds were hard and lunch had only one meal which kept some of us still hungry. Other than that I will consider coming back to Pakuba and i will recommend to friends.

Although during the day we did not have much chance to enjoy the Lodge, in summary this place is nice and is located on the northern sector of Murchison National Park. The staff were friendly and the food was acceptable. During our stay, the place was overbooked and the restaurant was so busy that there was always a shortage of food and plates. We would recommend that if you are a fan of desserts, then get it early as it runs out and does not get refilled. There is no Credit Card facility so ensure you have cash. We saw Waterbucks idling in the early hours of the morning just near our room, that was great. The rooms are tidy, but there was no water force in our shower, it only trickled and did not get repaired while we were there. Subject to the above, I would recommend this place.

we had a nice family trip with friends to this lodge in the middle of Murchison Falls National Park. We took the trip after lockdown within the country was eased. A part from another family we were the only ones at the lodge.
Pakuba Lodge was actually the staffing quarters of the original Pakuba Lodge (in ruins) just 200m away. It has stunning views on the river Nile, and being in the park it is not unusual to see waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, Uganda Kobs and other wild animals roaming around the compound which gives it a nice touch. Its location permits immediate game drives in the park.
The rooms were nice, well equipped with AC, comfortable beds, and Mosquito Nets (advisable to use them - the whole northern Uganda is Malaria endemic area). The service was ok, and food was average. It is a relaxing spot.
Wifi is only available (sporadically) at the lobby area only, not available in the rooms.
What needs an uplift is the swimming pool area. When we were there, the pool was half filled, the bar section was nonfunctional and the surroundings could be better maintained. A pity since the pool overlooks the River Nile.
I will be back in future, especially for the fact that the location is simply perfect. I rate it a 3 star, some work needs to be done (both in terms of service offered and maintenance) to make the lodge gain that extra star it could deserve.

Absolutely stunning! Location is 5 stars; in the middle of the WILD; spotted so many animals even giraffes and hippos from the veranda! The swimming pool is perfect and great for kids! Rooms are very spacious, perfect showers with hot water, food is served in plenty and delicious! The service team becomes like family, manager Victoria is great, as well as Junior (biggest smile ever), Benji and Tom. So if you are looking for a full on Safari experience this is the place to stay. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with lawn view since animals like to graze at night, perfect spotting from room.

We arrived at sunset, and the first thing I noticed was the view, absolutely stunning. Staff gave us a welcome drink and orientation. Staff were highly attentive and helpful. The room was standard/basic: queen bed with mosquito net, bedside tables, table and chair. Bathroom had toilet , shower and sink. Water pressure was good, but we didn't get any hot water in our room (other rooms may be different). There is a pool that has a stunning view, and a nice way to cool off in the afternoon. Where the lodge is in the park animals do wander through the area, which is cool. Finally, the food was great and the buffet style provides plenty of options. Would highly recommend staying here.

We were originally placed in a room directly next to where they are doing construction, and had to ask to be moved. Moving didn't help much, because we were woken up at 7:30am first by housekeeping letting themselves in without knocking. Then at 8:00am, the manager knocked on the door and asked us to get up and move "to a quieter location" because they were about to do some construction. We then went to get breakfast, and found it had already been put away and there was no food, at 8:30am. Between the construction and weedwhackers all going at once, being removed from our room so early, and no food, it was the least relaxing vibes we've been around in awhile

The new bar and restaurant area is beautifully decorated, but poorly planned and blocks the pool's view of the Nile delta. Confusing half-finished ramps and stairs created a ton of foot traffic by the pool. With the kitchen now right next to the pool, loud music playing from kitchen staffs phones and all the activity of a lodge's kitchen did not create a relaxing environment.

The bridge that creates access for game drives has also been washed away which means you are almost an hour's drive away from any of the game drives, which is meant to be the main point of staying at this location.

Staff were nice, but management was not attentive and unapologetic about our negative experiences.

Overall, horrible value for money, and we checked out early after the first night and spent the rest of our trip at a more reputable lodge in the park.

This lodge is located inside the Murchison Falls National Park and gives you a wonderful sense of nature and being surrounded by animals . The accommodations are in buildings that have 4 well appointed rooms each. The rooms are comfortable and very clean . Wart hogs, water bucks and other animals are all around the property. This property also caters to groups as well and they do this well. Meals are all buffet , tasty, and with a good variety of choices. The staff are all very attentive and friendly. The best part of this lodge is that you are right in the park and ready to start the game drives as soon as you entire your vehicle. Other lodges are located outside the park and entail a drive to start the game drives. I give this lodge 5 stars for location, staff, value for price and excellent nature experience. We were thinking of staying at another lodge in a higher price range outside the park but we’re very happy we went along with our guide’s recommendation to stay at Pakuba. We would have missed out on a truly unique and wonderful nature experience and great hospitality for a little more creature comforts. So glad we didn’t.

We stayed at this lodge for two nights, while visiting Murchison Falls NP. The staff was exceptionally accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable and the food was good. Though this lodge can accommodate lots of people, it never felt crowded or was noisy. The location was excellent for game drives.
Note: after dinner is served, you go to your room and stay there, as there may be wild animals walking around at night. (Part of the thrill of staying there.)

I stayed there in July 2020 for two nights. We had the family room which was two connecting rooms with two baths. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The bathrooms had all the toiletries and hot water all day long. The beds had mosquito nets and were very comfortable. The two rooms also had AC in them. The Electricity starts from 7:00pm till 7:00am.

The food was very nice and generous. The packed breakfast was delicious with all the choices that we requested. My compliments to the chef and the waiter.

The staff at the lodge are very friendly and accommodated all our requests

The pool looked nice and clean, but we did not have time to use it. There are warthogs, dear, rabbits and monkeys in the parking area.

Wifi is available only in the lobby and you can also charge your electronics in the lobby during the day.

The location of the lodge is perfect for game drives. Within minutes you will be able to see all the animals in abundance. The ranger we had on the game drives (Zavier) was excellent. On our first game drive, he located 2 Leopards on the trees, one of them had a kill also on the tree. We saw many elephants, giraffes, dears, two jackals, warthogs, buffalos and more. And on our second game drive we saw white owl and a big lion.

We also took the boat cruise to the bottom of the Falls. The views are magnificent, we saw hippos, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes and buffaloes drinking. I strongly recommend this trip.

We also took the Balloon ride operated by Dreams Balloons. They were very organized and professional. Our pilot was excellent, we have a very smooth ride and perfect landing. The views from the top are magnificent. I also strongly recommend this trip.

Everything about our stay at Pakuba was wonderful. We will surely come back again.
