We choose to stay here as the Acholi Inn is one of the old Uganda hotels dotted around the country and over the last few months we have had a positive experience with those in Mbale, Kasese and Fort Portal. But the Acholi Inn is surely one to be avoided. The hotel is under renovation and it is a complete... More

OK to stay for a few nights but in need of renovation which it looks like it was having whilst we were there. The pool is a welcome relief to spend time in or by ! nice cold beer too. Bit over priced for what it was but about average for Gulu I guess.

My room had a moskito net over the bed and AC. The bathroom was small and the shower had little water pressure but overall it was comfortable. The breakfast area was on the other side of the grounds which was not easy to get to as you walked through a building site. Wifi was terrible but the staff are friendly... More

The hotel is average and along a quite road in a middle class area in Gulu. I didn't like the sight of so many soldiers at the gate (just a few for security are enough). The place seems a little political. Otherwise it's one of those few hotels you can swim at while in Gulu. The staff are fast at attending,... More

Gulu does not have a huge choice of hotel accommodation and the Acholi Inn is one of the few mid priced ones positioned between the top end places (whose car parks are full of big white land cruisers covered with aid organisation logo's - you know they are spending their budgets on the important things like big lunches for their... I stayed at the Acholi Inn for two months in Spring of 2009 (although my review says Aug 13). The rooms were clean and the staff was very helpful and would do just about anything to accomodate a guest. The pool was fantastic and just what I needed after a day's work in dusty Gulu. The bar was great and... More

This is probably twice the price of other accommodation in the town but its a regular haunt of westerners using Gulu as a base. Accommodation was 100,000 USH for the night for double room. Rooms are adequate but no hot water at all night or morning, which was a pain. Its difficult to know whether this was known about or... More

Used to stay here and take groups. But, more and more you would go and find so many things not working - lights, toilets, a/c, etc. Plus, the general condition is bad - things broken and plaster and paint in bad shape. Food is not very good and is WAY over-priced. The general staff is friendly, but the management is... More

We had a dinner here for a number of Ugandan work colleagues. Great setting outside under the night sky. Huge choice of menu options - which normally makes me suspicious - but they all seemed fine. My goat curry and chapatis was one of the best I have had in Uganda. Strongly recomend.
