It’s advertised as All Inclusive BUT that is just 3 meals a day and drinks no snacks you miss a meal sitting your loss .... WiFi also not included so you have to pay for this, no shops nearby so you need to pay a Taxi 80 000 Shillings one way to get to Stone Town and unbelievably USD20 for a trip to the Tock Restaurant 3 minutes down the road by car

We visited Karafuu in March 2019. The arrival at the main airport was interesting, and one could think of what Jamaica might have been in the 70's. Dilapidated buildings with an island charm. Clearing custom's was quick and efficient. No words can prepare you for the humidity which is oppressive. The tour operator was well organised (Sun tour) and the transfer to the hotel was interesting and took 1 and a half hours, which is the average time anywhere in Zanzibar. The roads are pot holed and not suitable for 2 vehicles abreast. Arrival at Karafuu was like entering a different world. We were greeted with cool scented towels and friendly staff. Check in was quick, and we were quickly escorted to our air conditioned room. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed with the basic amenities. The beds have mosquito nets and the rooms are serviced daily with fresh towels, and general cleaning. The property has various pools with swim up bars, and I suggest the all inclusive package to avoid surprises and for convenience. The staff were always neatly dressed and extremely friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was reasonable with a fair variety, but, do not expect steak as meat is expensive in Zanzibar. There is always chilled bottled water available. The pools are kept clean and sparkling. The water is always warm and the pool towels are clean and supplied daily. The gym was clean and always staffed, and the air-conditioner is a necessity. There are various restaurants with different meal options and requirements. We had a fantastic time!! Every evening their is generally some form of entertainment, and there is free WiFi in the reception area.I do recommend mosquito repellent and lots of sunscreen. I don't think that the sea view rooms warrant an additional charge as at night, there is little light (unless full moon) and there is little to see. I was not particularly impressed with the Stone town tour or the markets, and the Freddy Mercury experience is a waste of time and money if you pay. The spice experience is a trip through the market, so rather opt for a spice tour if that interests you. Staying at the hotel was a relaxing, restful and fantastic experience which should be your first reason to go, and everything else is a bonus or experience. Enjoy Zanzibar before it becomes overly commercial!!

Very nice resort place, full comfort and security, friendly service, clean and large rooms, excellent beach and sea! The food is good, however its variety could be improved. I can recommend it for everyone who loves the seaside!

We booked a Junior suite with sea view and it was amazing!! Not by the beach tho, a little higher up. Very peaceful and quiet. P.S. we missed a shower maybe outside the suite to wash our feet or even shower of the sand. We also missed a hammock. There's 2 chairs and a nice bed and one can even sleep outside since it's so warm, only problem is the mosquitos. Even inside our daughter got bitten without spray. We were 2 adts + 1 chd and when we came no bed or set of towels for our 4,5yrs old daughter. After some reviews I read, was a bit concerned about the room since it was a present to my husband but the room seemed newly renovated or at least the bathroom and it was beautiful. A.c. wasn't so cold but we were happy with that. Minibar was empty so one could fill with whatever. Compared to the size of the room, not much space for storage tho(wardrobe, etc). Now Housekeeping: it feels like the "hakuna matata" feeling is not so effective. Everytime they came to replace the towels, they removed them first and then went to pick new ones. Once we came to the room to shower and get ready for dinner outside the hotel and ended up late coz they said they'd be back within 5 min and it took 30!!! They removed wine glasses from the room without replacing them, removed some small things of mine etc. Hsk, please: never remove guest's stuff. As a hotel worker what concerned me the most was that First aid kits were available only at the Diving centre or gym. I needed it after 7pm and there was nothing available at the Front desk. Daniel from diving centre helped me everyday tho. Abdullah was super kind and went above and beyond and got jackfruit for me as a special request. Thanks everyone for a lovely stay.
