Historic old farmstead in a very rural quiet location. The host is a. charming gentleman who is a tour guide of the local battlefields. He is very know!edgable and interesting. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent.

Beautiful old farm with history, lovely host, excellent food. For a relaxing atmosphere, farm environment, no noise, no polution and clear air this is the place to be. Many war sites close by like Bloodriver.

A beautiful old homestead filled with antiques and history but still retains a homely feel. The gardens were also beautiful despite the drought in the area. Our host, Foy Vermaak, is still one of the best guides in the area. Although we have done the battlefield tours with him before, our friends who joined us for the first time were... More

Staying on this 7 th generation farm and listening to the owner telling stories is just amazing. He is also a tour guide and has a lot of insight on the different war sites. The accommodation is beautiful and the food is just wonderful. Most of the veg are grown on the farm. We stayed in n fort that was... More

On arrival we were greeted by our host and offered a refreshing drink from the bar, and after our long drive it was welcomed. Ann and the staff served dinner at the long dining table while stories of travels were shared amongst guests. Foy (your host) being a 6th generation Afrikaans, is a fountain of knowledge, and regales us of... More

Our stay here was more like going to stay with grandparents in their home. The track to the farmhouse is quite rutted and if you're not in a 4 x 4 it will require careful negotiation. On reaching the house there was a warm reception from Foy and Ann and the dogs. The house has antique furnishings and there were... More

Conveniently located for the Battlefields area and for us particularly Rorke’s Drift and Isandhlwana it’s easily located being on the main road R33 south of Dundee. The couple of km track to the farm itself is across fields but easily done even in a small saloon car. The farmhouse room was en suite, very comfortable and well finished with good... More

Foy and Ann were great hosts, food was fresh from the gardens and rooms tidy and comfortable. The fire was wonderful and The dogs well mannered and charming. We had a great time with Foy guiding us around Rourke's Drift and Isandlwana. Amazing location.

This was our second stop on our first trip to South Africa. We really liked the set-up, a lovely old farmhouse on a working cattle farm in many hectares of land with Foy, the characterful owner and Anne, the excellent manager. We were warmly greeted and soon settled into our seats on the lawn joined by Anne who served up... More

This stop was our second on our first trip to South Africa. We had booked online and been given clear directions and a friendly response. We wouldn't have wanted to arrive after dark as the road up to the house is not the easiest if you are used to UK roads but once there a warm welcome awaits. The house... More
