This was my first time to the area came with a friend. The rooms were beautiful and clean I felt very at home, Johann and Michele was very welcoming and nothing was to much. The breakfasts were lovely every day. The trips out with Johann were very good with plenty of facts and stories to tell me as I was... More

This was my fourth visit to this wonderful location for exploring the battlefields of Natal, and I had no hesitation in booking in once again at History's Walk. Johann and Michele were as always very helpful and made my stay so enjoyable. The rooms and breakfasts were excellent, as were the trips I made with Johann. Nothing much more to... More

This is a small, specialist B&B catering for people attending Johann's fantastic battlefield tours. Johann and Michele are very welcoming and were flexible and helpful. The room is beautifully furnished and very comfortable and excellent, simple home cooked food is served. I would highly recommend this if you are interested in the history of the Zulu war as Johann's obvious... More

The B & B appears to be based on a farmhouse style. It is in a fenced compound so very safe. Rooms are clean and comfortable. I was in the Namib room and it was very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom had a good shower so all was well. Breakfast was more than adequate and freshly cooked. The three battlefield tour... More

Reviewing this excellent B&B a little late - in all I have visited it 3 times over the past years so it cannot be all bad ! Seriously Johann knows his stuff - battlefields, wild life etc and yes he tells it straight which is as it should be, and Michele is a lovely creative person. Both were more than... More

Phil Gibson is one of our long-standing clients in the UK and a topnotch gentleman, who enjoyed his several stays with us, and I really appreciate his view. It means we have been doing something right. You are welcome back anytime, Phil, with your lady, and I sincerely hope your health problems improve. Stay strong. More

We spent two days in the company of Johann and found him to be a most affable and knowledgeable host. He took us to Blood River as well as the two British/ Zulu sites we really came to see, and gave us an interesting and informed commentary for the the whole of the long day. It isn't cheap, but it... This is the place for you if you are a racist or like being around them. Strong words, I know, but the proprietor didn't try to hide his views. We booked a room and a tour of the battlefields with the proprietor, but when we said that we were interested in both the British and the Zulu perspectives, he became... More

I have not originally responded to this review, as the reviewer most certainly did not give the full story, and his contribution to this sorry debacle, which he was the primary cause of, by constantly changing his booking requirements for the cheapest options available, without any prior notice. (He was constantly phoning me from the road, while inbound to us)... More
