If you are looking for a resort like Club Med or the Hilton on Diamond Head, don't even come to Cameroon. There is nothing remotely like it in the country. If you like a quiet beach with beautiful and unusual colored sand, warm water, a simple, clean room with decent food in a pleasant setting in a developing country, you cannot go wrong with Tsaben Beach Hotel. We had water and power (read - A/C) the entire 4 night stay. The staff is very accommodating and food is good and much less expensive than in Kribi or Yaounde or Douala, despite the hotel being quite remote from a city. It seemed to be the motel farthest from LImbe town, but yet an easy drive in. Only the folks staying at the hotel plus a few day trippers on the weekend were on the beach in front of this hotel, vs hordes of people on the weekend at the Seme Beach hotel. The rooms are not well stocked with extras, I am sure because "extras" disappear. One has to ask for room service for a small fee and extra towels and toilet paper, but these are small inconveniences which help keep the costs down. We paid the equivalent of ~38 usd/night for a nice room in a 4-plex with a porch and a sideways view of the ocean. The wifi worked fine. We didn't need the TV, though it worked. The grounds and beach front area are well kept. We spent pleasant evenings sitting on the porch and in the open air restaurant drinking Pampelmousse, eating their fish and chicken dishes and the nice Tsaben salad, which is sort of like cole slaw. The staff doesn't seem to mind if one just sits and plays cards or talks in the restaurant at whatever hour. We also ordered a grilled fish and rice from the beach front palapa one afternoon and it was superb, especially when eaten while sitting under a shade tree on a lava outcropping with the waves crashing at our feet. Our only complaint was the mattresses, either too hard or too soft (we traded with our friends after the first night and neither was great), but after all the walks on the beach, we slept well. Take a boogie board if you have one. Swimming is good, too, as the beach is all soft sand and slopes very gradually out to deep water. We were in Cameroon for 4.5 months prior to this stay and our friends have lived there 7 years. We all agreed that one cannot do much better for vacation in Cameroon than the Tsaben Beach Hotel and Limbe.

this was a really nice experience for me and i would love to go back sometime. The beach is beautiful. The hotel has good equipment and the staff is friendly. A nice place to go and relax!!! It is very quiet. The people and staff really keep your privacy and make you enjoy your stay. The hotel provides bus services that allow you to go everywhere in Limbe. The owner himself will always be around the hotel and help you.

We stayed two nights at this motel including New Year's Eve in two adjacent rooms.
There are three older rooms a the front of the hotel in a separate building and about six or seven separate cottages (bukarroos) in the back area of the property. Property sits across the main road from a gorgeous beach, where the hotel maintains a small snack bar/restaurant and beach area.
The manager and staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Rooms were very clean, but basic. There is a bed, a chair, a shrank, and a small table/desk. Beds have mosquito nets. All the cottages had air conditioning except for two of the three older rooms near the restaurant. The newer cottages had nice tile floors and look to be about five years old and well-constructed.
The restaurant has a limited but good menu, including some tasty local seafood dishes. Beer and wine selections also limited, but adequate.
The beach area is wonderful: not crowded with a nice sitting area in a quiet cove of trees perfect for reading or just watching the waves (particularly nice if you don't want to sit in the sun and bake).
Downsides: you need a car or a long taxi ride from Limbe to reach the hotel; isolated except for the nearby Seme Beach Hotel resort.
Bottom line: simple hotel but a very good bargain.

Only got to spend one night here but chose it for the semi-isolation that it would provide and the beautiful views. It is a drive from Limbe and any nearby towns so you get a nice secluded and quiet break. The beach is great and there is a bridge to take you over the road so you don't have to worry about dodging cars. Food was good and while beers were a little expensive it is to be expected.

Reading reviews can be misleading at times. Standards people expects in England might be different from those expected in France and the same applies to Cameroun. Not everybody understands what really are the means available and the environment surrounding the places we visit.
We have been welcomed very nicely by all staff. The room was super clean, hot water plenty, huge bathroom, well working ac in a very cute caban-style brick bungalow, with a large terrace overlooking the sea. Fantastic. Nice kept garden just in the front and very quiet.
The food we had for diner was excellent (grilled barracuda and snapper) and the beach eventhough of somehow difficult access is the way it should be.
Thank you

The last time i visited this hotel, it was simply just amazing. It is a great place go an relax with your family, friends or business partners. it is one of the best places i have ever stayed in Cameroon. everybody is welcoming, the food is great and the beach is wonderful. From what I observed, it is never cold in limbe so you can swim at anytime you want. What interested me the most about this hotel is the amazing view you get of mount Cameroun no matter where your standing. If you love to relax, this is the place for you because you wouldn't find two places like this in limbe.

High school students from Colorado have enjoyed this wonderful ecolodge on our trips to Cameroon for the last several years. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the location is fantastic. Our thanks go to all who make the Tsaben Lodge such a wonderful and peaceful haven for us. The thought, care, and attention to cultural nuances that the Tsaben Lodge offers make all the difference for us. Thank you, thank you, Tsaben Lodge!!

The rooms were very well kept, and all the people were friendly. I felt right at home. Not to mention I never had a bad meal. Definitely some of the best food I tasted who I was in Cameroon. To top off my experience here, the location on the beach was ideal! It made for gorgeous scenery and fun afternoons! I would go back in a heartbeat!

Lovely little hotel with friendly staff. Very close to the beach (you hear the waves at night). Beds a bit uncomfortable but that was the case elsewhere in the country too. Rooms were basic but functional, shower didnt work properly but we didnt mind. Only downside would the be the restaurant, not comfortable and the food was just OK - though the prices were super cheap too! Overall a nice alternative to the Seme beach down the road (a rather tacky mass destination) and definitely good if you want to use it as a base to go out and explore. Reaching the city by taxi will take a good 20 minutes and will cost 3,000 CFA (about 5 euros) for a private taxi, much less if you are willing to share. Idenau, a small fishing port is a 20-30 mins drive in the other direction. They also arrange a shuttle bus to and from the airport for 20,000 CFA (1 1/2 hour ride)

1. Yes You can definitely have a beer at the hotel and spend your day by the beach which is absolutely not far as You just have to cross the road.
2. They are no sharks aswell as dangerous fishes in that water absolutely.
3. Yes there is a shuttle that can pick u up from Douala to the Hotel You will have to negociate with the driver tho...if You are interested I will give You the number of the hotel maybe You van call them and get all the anwsers to your questions.
P.S: i am not the owner of the Hotel i just spent sometimes there back in April.
"The hut-style rooms had new air conditioners last time I was there, so those proved to be quite comfortable. However, the wooden building has a deck with a great view, so that is also a good choice."
There are more places to choose from in the Limbe area.
