The location is peaceful and truly beautiful, the cottages are clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and the hosts are the warmest and friendliest people you could ever hope to meet. Its tranquility and sense of isolation belie the fact that the retreat is less than five minutes from Cromwell and well under an hour from both Wanaka and Queenstown. An outstanding place in which to relax and get away from whatever it is you want to get away from, yet still be within easy striking distance of everything that this spectacular region has to offer.

Cecilia was an excellent hostess from the moment we arrived. The cottage was delightful. The highlight was the surrounding stunning countryside including the sheep. We had a wonderful time, perfect for a honeymoon. Thank you!

We have just spent 4 idyllic nights in Rascal cottage at this beautiful retreat. The welcome you receive is so friendly and soon you feel that you have known this couple for ages! Cecilia certainly has a knack of making you feel totally at home and relaxed from the very beginning. The cottage is warm, peaceful and very well equipped - the bed is ultra comfy - the views are splendid - the gorgeous garden is tended with loving care by both Cecilia and Darryl - it is a credit to them. If you are in need of a restorative few days away (or even if you are not!!) we can thoroughly recommend this place. But, really, we should not be telling you this - it will get too booked up and we want to return again and again. Thank you Cecilia and Darryl - amazing few days.

Thank you Philip and Lucy for your much appreciated review. You most certainly can come back to our little haven any time you like - it was just lovely having you both here and we are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us. Lexi still has us running about after her - just now I was in hot pursuit, trying to claim back a whole packet of pikelets she had deftly removed from our kitchen and was trying to make a fast getaway to a hidey hole no doubt!! I had to turn away so she couldn't see me laughing at her naughtiness - haha. Hopefully we will see you again! Kindest Regards Cecilia and Darryl and of course, Lexi the naughty kitten!

From the first welcoming “Hello” to our farewell, we have found Burn Cottage Retreat to be a haven of peace and seclusion. The cottage (Rascal Cottage) has high quality inclusions, including a very comfortable bed and luxurious sheets! So many Positives; the aromatic lavender at the front door - providing a calming and peaceful ambiance; the fresh herbs in the garden (should you be inspired to prepare your own food!); fully equipped laundry (comes in handy if you’ve been out cycling for days); easy access to wineries, art and craft trail, walking and cycling. And a restorative, calm and peaceful retreat if you choose to stay in. We hope to return!
