A delight! When we arrived, we were a bit apprehensive as the building is dated circa late 1960s. The rooms were spotless and some of the cleanest I've ever seen. The beds were very firm, which my husband appreciated. Bathrooms were nice and updated. Wait staff was wonderful and accommodated 3 large tours simultaneously. The town was very quaint and... More

Being a tour operator from Northern Ireland I went with one of our coach drivers to make sure everything was up to scratch. Safe to say everyone who traveled loved the trip and all said they would go back. Please note it is hard trying to please 53 people at once lol. Located in a great area, not to long... More

Had a good couple of days here. Hotel is slightly dated but full off friendly staff. Food was good and would certainly use this hotel again when in the area. Very central for trips to surrounding areas Aviemore, Fort William and even Inverness.

We first stayed here 15 years ago and had fairly find memories from then. The public rooms are very much unchanged and whilst old-fashioned it retains a charming air. The rooms we had had recently been renovated with modern bathrooms- the shower with rainfall head was fabulous. Beds were comfortable with very clean linen and towels good. The food (both... More

The rooms are a little old fashioned but with a very modern bathroom and everything you require in a hotel towels, tea making facilities, hairdryer etc. The staff where wonderful very helpful, the hotel had a well stocked bar and the breakfast was very... Not a place I would recommend. We had room 39 set up as a disabled room. There was no hot water either at night or early in the morning in the shower. The room was noisy, every time the person in the room above moved, the roof checked, there were loose or broken floorboards. The shower had that nasty paper... More

We were sad to leave the Outer Hebrides. Leaving by the CalMac ferry to Ullapool. Arriving at our hotel a little late (problem loading and re loading cars at Stornaway. We had dinner almost immediately after our coach arrived. The hotel was very busy which might explain the rushed service and taking plates away before one had finished. The rooms... More

Spent one night at this hotel on the way further north. As we were arriving late and leaving early we looked for a budget hotel and got the highlander online for a reasonable price. The first impressions were of a dated building with a lack of car parking space. The overall feel of the communal areas were they were a... More

Rooms modern, clean and bed very comfortable. Bathroom very modern with shower but one thing missing is a toilet roll holder!! Lounge very spacious and comfortable for guests. Bar smallish but prices reasonable. Restaurant was well laid out with very good staff - quick and polite - a credit to the hotel. Food however was wholesome but quite plain and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For true Highland hospitality come to the Highlander, a hotel renowned for its good food and warm welcome. The hotel is an ideal base for touring the North of Scotland with mountain ranges, forests, lochs and river valleys waiting to be explored. Wind down in our inviting restaurant serving an array of dishes made from locally sourced produce. Perhaps a wee dram from the bar would suit; choose a whisky from one of the many local distilleries for which this area is famous for throughout the world. ... more   less
