We stopped in for a quick drink and a snack on a lunch time whilst staying locally in Chertsey. Found this place from recommendations and it was nice, with friendly staff and a nice meal of sandwiches and chips and good beer.
We visited the bar for a drink. The language was appalling and we asked the staff to ask the individuals to refrain from shouting obscenities, we were then encouraged to leave and bar staff would not serve us a drink. Is this how run a bar.
Stayed as so near Thorpe park, £5 away in a taxi. Free parking and welcoming host! Clean but small rooms! Did the job for the night! Will return and recommend. It is situated on a busy road but it didn't bother us at all!
We stayed one night (Thursday) at the Coach and Horses during our visit to Wentworth for the BMW Golf tournament. Given the area you are in, the fact that you are less than 10 minutes from Wentworth / Virginia Water and that free parking overnight is available, this is excellent value for money. It is not the Hilton, does not pretend to be the Hilton and does not charge Hilton rates. If you chose to stay at the Coach and Horses, don't moan that you want the Hilton's luxury. That is more irritating and unhelpful than anything to travellers who want advice on somewhere cheap to stay in what is a very expensive part of the country. I believe I am right in saying that there are only three bedrooms at the Coach and Horses. Bedroom - in our room, we had two single beds, an ensuite, a TV and coffee & tea making facilities. What else do you need for an overnight stay? We had the window open all night and heard no external noise of any consequence so slept well. To ensure my review is fair to people who are seeking advice, the decor in our room was dated and the shower was adequate but was not a power shower. Bar - due to management / chef's holidays, we were unable to eat at the Coach and Horses so cannot comment on that aspect. Drink prices are what you must expect in that area of England - expensive, as are the other bars! I don't drink ales but my friend was very impressed with the London Pride. What made our stay so enjoyable were Suzanne and her colleague behind the bar and the locals, all of whom made us very welcome, talked to us and helped us with advice on local facilities (somewhere to eat at night and have breakfast). Thank you. Would we use the Coach and Horses again - if we are in the area, absolutely.…
This is an old pub brewery owned on the edge of Chertsey within walking distance to Thorpe Park. The London Pride beer is well kept. The menu is fairly standard British pub style. Service was good and friendly.
