I stayed for one night in a standard B&B room above the restaurant. The welcome was warm and friendly and I was even asked whether I was a hot person or a cold person so they could give me a room that best suited me. The room was lovely and warm and although it was over the restaurant there was... More

I have just spent 4 nights here ...staff are very friendly and make you feel like family...the accommodation is very clean ..the food is top notch...there's nothing I can fault about the place...it's places like this that steer me away from the big chains. Me and my partner decided on a local night away together, and found The Staff of Life on booking.com (which got the booking wrong!!) upon arrival we thought it was a little odd that we had to wait until 5/6pm until check in, so we wandered around the village for a while. The booking mistake was easily dealt with by... More

Thank you for your review. I didn’t realise that checking in after 5pm would be a problem for you as we emailed you on the 9/11 confirming our check in times. We often close at 3pm at this time of year and staff do need a break, but I would have checked you in earlier had I have known. I... More

Room have TV, wif-fi, and drink making facilities. The restaurant was very good. I had starters and main, and could not fault the food or service. Breakfast was a choice of the... More

Visited with friends as a group of four midweek lunchtime. Welcomed with a smile but they had apparently not received our e mail booking. No problem as we were early and there was lots of space available.Out of four starters two were disappointing .Ciabatta was so hard on mushroom dish that it was difficult to cut! Prawn cocktail had twice... More

This is a great place to stay. A quiet, comfortable room which was a good size and lots of wardrobe hanging space. All hotel amenities provided plus real milk in a jug. Decor is tasteful (no unnecessary boutique hotel silk cushions) and a comfy bed to watch TV and sleep, provided a restful stay. So convenient, the restaurant/bar is downstairs... More

Quintessential British Pub done better. Friendly staff, EXCELLENT food which includes staples like fish and chips plus more foodie selections like Brie pastry and pâté. Specials change each day, and menu was recently updated. Great atmosphere, good drink selection, fantastic desserts. Never had a bad experience here, and have eaten here over 15 times. This pub is absolutely worth your... More

Met some friends here for lunch. One had fish & chips for £6.99 - what a plateful ! Ham egg & chips mmmmm..... Real home roasted ham, hand carved & delicious. Proper hand cut chips as well. Friendly welcome and very efficient service. Would certainly eat here again.
