Breakfast was ok, warm food was definitely not fresh but it was edible. The boiled eggs were the same batch two mornings in a row, all the smashed ones still in the bowl. The pool was clean and the outside area was nice. The barman (Frank I think) was really good but the drinks are definitely, definitely watered down. We drank loads and were nowhere near even tipsy. You don’t get glasses either, everything is in plastic cups. Lunch and dinner were pretty much the same thing all the time, no real choice if you want warm food. The sewage tank empty point is literally outside our room which was a nice touch because they emptied it, not even moving our sun lounges away. The evening entertainment first night was some Latin dancers, and it was performed in the bar area, they were talented but it wasn’t the entertainment we were looking forward to. The bar is a help yourself situation. There is a cocktail machine that gives you squash/cordial and definitely not a cocktail. The 2nd night entertainment was actually really good. It is a really basic hotel so if you want anything remotely fancy look somewhere else, but if you just want a cheap weekend away this is the place to come. Also I would not do the all inclusive option. There are loads of amazing places to eat and drink up the road.
The location of the hotel is perfect as it is on the beach so you can choose to spend time on the beach or by the pool.
The hotel is clean. Lots of food - always plenty of salads as well as a choice of hot foods.
Our room had a balcony overlooking the beach and the sunsets were beautiful.
The train station is a ten minute walk away and it’s easy to get to Girona (well worth a day trip) or Barcelona and train travel is so cheap. All in all a great value holiday and perfect for a long weekend break with a group of friends . Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so nice
The food is not edible and the same leftovers every single day, there is not enough seating in the restaurant and staff are completely incompetent.
The rooms are filthy and infested with ants, constant smell of drainage, air con not working and flooding the room with water and light fixtures are hanging out of the wall. We repeatedly requested to change rooms and reception staff told us it could be done and then couldn’t be done and finally the man on reception at night began to shout at me in Spanish when I asked could we change rooms due to our room being full of ants. The same man was seen drinking on shift and was later observed to be completely intoxicated to the point of being unable to walk properly; we also saw the bar staff pouring him drinks and when we reported this to the staff the next day they called us liars and said they checked the CCTV (the CCTV showed him drinking but they denied this).
Not one member of staff knew who the manager was and when we eventually found the man who said he “supposed he was the manager” he said he would personally see that our air con was fixed, when we returned to our room the air con hadn’t been fixed and they had turned off our air con completely from a central control system (the air con was turned back on 1 hour before we checked out).
The shower completely flooded the bathroom and bedroom every time it was turned on and when the toilet was flushed the electrics tripped.
The management were banging on our door before check out time and telling us to leave the room.
The key cards to the rooms also didn’t work and we had to get them changed repeatedly which the staff were never happy to do.
The hotel does not have a sauna which it states it does on the website. We are currently in the process of claiming money back from our travel provider
Our room was clean and kitted out with everything you would need, including a safe, air con, toiletries, hairdryer and to our surprise a private terrace. This was a sun trap and gave us an aerial view of the terrace below, the sea, street and given privacy with a row of trees and we were fortunate enough to watch parrots fly in and out of them.
The staff were very friendly and the receptionist allowed us to borrow a kettle and nothing was too much trouble. As it is a small hotel, you really got to know the staff.
It had a relaxed vibe and there were always plenty of sun beds. Don’t get me wrong, sun beds were reserved but not at silly hours.
The pool is small but we enjoyed flitting between the pool and beach. The shower by the entrance to the hotel, beach side was useful but the sand was really like fine shingle and didn’t tend to really stick to your skin as much.
The food offered huge choice and there was always a meat and fish option. In fact there was a huge array of meat, fish, veg, fruit etc to suit any palette and dietary requirements. The only thing I would say that could be improved was the temperature of the hot food which really should be just that, as it was lukewarm at best.
I even had paella which we planned on having at another restaurant out one night but didn’t need to. We thought it was the best food we had in any hotel we had stayed at.
The entertainment wasn’t great and geared towards Europeans, particularly Germans and Dutch, with not many English staying the week we were there. The self service bar at night was also a strange phenomenon.
The location on the beach was amazing and a good base for sight seeing, particularly to Barcelona, which was just over an hour away by train. This coastal journey was lovely. I believe there are no other hotels on the beach in that local area.
Ignore any of the bad reviews and check this hotel out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
The rooms are lovely and spacious, beds very comfortable, rainwater shower so nice and air con works well.
Food - Although can get repetitive ( as all inclusive hotels do) there is always something to eat. Breakfast has everything you need, hot or cold.
Yes there is a subway to get across the road but that’s the price you pay for being directly on the beach!! No you are not allowed to take your sunbeds on the beach, my thoughts about this is that they do not have the staff to hunt them down and bring them all back to the hotel. You can hire a sun bed about 50 yards away. Pool feels cold when you first get in but I found it really refreshing as we are still here and it’s very hot (8th October) Yes they serve drinks in plastic cups but I can’t see a problem with that. Yes the entertainment goes on until 11.30pm so if you are early to bed people - request a room on the outside. No tea or coffee making equipment in the room but I took a travel kettle so we were fine.
I also noted all the bad reviews about this hotel but if you are paying 3star prices, don’t expect 5* luxury.
We flew into Barcelona and the transfer is about 2 hours, if we came again I would look to fly into Gerona.
To sum up, this is a small ( I would say ) 3 star adult only hotel and to reiterate, for the price we paid, a perfect stay. Oh , and I should mention, it’s right on the beach, just walk through the hotel gate and you’re on the beach ( I was reliably informed the sea was colder than the pool. One other thing to mention is the staff are very friendly and helpful. I sometimes wonder when reading reviews - are we staying at the same hotel others describe.
