Good food, the athmosphere was great and the staff was very service minded and polite. The culotte meat was not that good but the chicken was awesome! All in all a good expericense and a good start of our mountain hiking vacation here in Geiranger !

Plenty of atmosphere in this historic hotel, the views are amazing with the dining room overlooking the fjord. There is a path from the town centre to the hotel(uphill) which would take about 20 minutes to walk. The room was spacious with a settee so there was somewhere to sit other than the bed. Tea and coffee facilities were provided. Wifi was excellent.Breakfast was good with plenty to choose from

We booked a fjord view double for a one night stay to break up our drive and ferry up the Geirangerfjord followed by the Troll road on on to Alesund the next day. The location and view were amazing. The steps along the stream of waterfalls down to town are quite nice, though the steps back up are a little strenuous. Other than the terrific view, the room was pretty average. But that may be expected in a historic property. The included breakfast was a step down from what we experienced at Kviknes and Alexandra. We did not like the mega cruise ship practice of two seatings for the dinner buffet and elected to eat in the a la carte restaurant instead. It was okay, not great, and the menu is extremely limited. After reading about traffic on the troll road I was concerned about how long it would take to get to Alesund. I should not have worried. We could have easily left Loen at 9 am, driven to Hellsylt for the one hour ferry to Geiranger, spent a little time in Geiranger, driven the Troll road with an hour stop at the visitor center and arrived in Alesund in plenty of time for dinner.

This Hotel is out of town and the hosts Monja and Sindre Mjelva are fourth generation hosts. The hotel must be over 100 years øld then. It is an excellent hotel and let me use the computer as the hotel I stayed in Hotel Geiranger did not have a computer. They also have an excellent vintage car collection

The property enjoys the best view in the area, and no-one beats the location. Room is very spacious, but mine was a bit old. The spa is amazing, pool also nice. Service was ok. Maybe the problem is everyone stays here, so it is very crowded. Dinner is included but lucky our agent booked us at the nicer restaurant instead of the buffet restaurant. I cant imagine the crowd during dinner in the buffet restaurant. The queue was long to get in. Overall, it was a good experience but something is missing.
