We arrived there and there was not really a covid-safe environment. As guests everyone needed to serve themselves the included drinks like water and wine. I didn't feel save at all. The food was terrible. The room was nasty en not clean at all. The pillows were nog clean. There was light front the other side, Shining all Night through oud window. Alsof in the night the blue standbylight of the television began to blink like a Maniac. The same with the bigger wall light.I slept not at all The bathroom was filthy. We stopped our vacation earlier because we would get ill, if we stayed longer. Never again!
After being told,in many restaurants, in the area that they had been booked already, we ended up in that one. The elderly lady in reception did us a huge favour and let us stay for some wine and something to eat. We were lucky she didn’t limit the time range for us occuping the table. Honestly, our experience in the town of Ellenz was a disaster. The food was ok, wine was excellent and two waiters (one from Poland) really nice and professional. The atmosphere and customer service at the reception just ridiculous. No words....
Despite some negative reviews, we decided to stay here. We were not disappointed. The staff were helpful and friendly, the place was clean and comfortable. We opted for the buffet style evening meal, although a limited number of mains, the food was well cooked and very tasty, great value! Our room on the third floor (via a lift) was large, clean and had a view of the river, result! We'd deffo go back, especially at those prices.
just come back from the cocheim wine fest and stayed in the ellenzer goldbaumchem for 3 nights, the rooms were basic and the barthroom small but the place was clean and tidy and peacefull, they give you free bus passess to get you about which was handy, the place is quite after 22,00 but not far from cocheim by cab, but taxis very expenseve at about 30 euro each way so the buss passes came in handy, the area is peaceful and beautiful scenerey and the right up the mosel is a must, cant complain about the hotel as it was a budet last minute booking as all the others were fully book due to the wine fest, forward planning for next time so we are a bit closer, so basicaly it done what we needed to and was clean , NICE BEER TOO
We stayed for one night with our 17 year old son. Booked online and we were very happy with the hotel. Room with a view over the river. Nice breakfast and great location. Great value. I would recommend this if you want good value and a nice typical German style hotel with charm.
Stayed here with the family on a half-board package deal between Christmas & New Year. We all had rooms in the annexe. Room was of reasonable size, could have done with a few more lights. Good mattress on the bed, terrible pillow. We had a minuscule bathroom: open door and you're up against handbasin, 1 step to left = shower cabin, 1 step to right = towel rail followed by toilet squeezed in corner. Difficult to towel yourself dry without banging elbows! Breakfast buffet was quite good. Dinner buffet was pretty poor though. Simple fare, not much taste, very limited choices. No wifi in our rooms, only in restuarant/bar area in main building. They make a big deal of having Sky TV in every room, but that was a sham. Not in any of ours, just error messages. Only 5 German channels. Not that we needed TV. But when you promote something that big (even having a banner on the outside hotel front!) you should live up to your promise. Free parking in front of hotel. The area probably looks a lot better in spring or summer, so we might make another visit. But then I would definitely not go to this hotel again.…
We went with Newmarket tours for a Christmas break to this hotel in Germany. We have NEVER been to a hotel in 35 years of visiting Europe, where both main front and back doors have been locked without providing residents with a key! The rear 'night door' was on first floor, out to an illuminated flight of steps leading to a 3m. square plinth, part of which was unlit.there was a 9in step off into the unlit part of a patio.Having left our room at 07.15 on Christmas Day (which also happened to be her Birthday which she wanted kept quiet)through the night door to savour the fresh German air, I was shortly to be accompanied by my Wife. She came down the illuminated stair flight and turned to get off the plinth, not realising there was a further unlit step onto the patio-and fell badly, sustaining severe bruising and was quite shaken-up. There were 7 standard lights around the patio- all switched off! Any WiFi that was promised was unobtainable. The only meal that was not buffet style was a light Christmas lunch-not much fun for 45 plus residents to go back and forth through 2 more rooms of already feasting guests! The bar service was slow at best, shortage of staff! I could go on.We have been with Newmarket on several occaisions , and if it hadn't been for our brilliant driver and courier the holiday would have been ruined. They took us on some fantastic trips. We will certainly travel with Newmarket again, but suggest they remove this hotel from their list .A visit from the local Health and Safety agency would not go amiss.…
Bad: We booked online into the Hotel Fuhrmann staying in their guesthouse room. When we arrived we were told to go up the road to another hotel (Hotel Ellenzer Goldbäumchen) once there we were given a room in a separate building behind their hotel, they call their Annex. As we had booked through the first hotel we thought we would be on their site, having breakfast in their dining room. Not so we were in the second hotel & had no further dealings with Hotel Fuhrmann other than using their booking. Our guesthouse room was on the 3rd floor as we had used the Hotel Fuhrmann site which has a lift (did not say guesthouse in another hotel building has no lift) - we were then given a ground floor room, after complaining. A very basic room with the smallest bathroom, the toilet was badly stained/cracked, there was no plug (just a giant hole) in the basin. They have no right to advertise free WiFi as there isn’t any – not in the room, the hotel entrance, dining area NO-WHERE!!!! We need internet as traveling for 6months around Europe & we were unable to book further accommodation or do our research. WiFi is a major issue when we book. Only 6 TV channels, none in English, (with no wifi unable to use our computer as a TV for English news). So were in a horrible depressing quiet room. We have paid less in the heart of some key German cities and received much better accommodation than this. Would not stay here again. Good: The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good with a good selection. After issues with the WiFi the very nice person in charge gave a discount for our inconvenience (even then expensive for this standard of accommodation).…
Enjoyed our stay. Arrived at 2100h, exactly when the kitchen closes, that was a minor deficiency, but managed to eat next door w/o problem. Triple room was big, great view of the Mosel, comfortable beds, clean bathroom. Plenty of free public parking along the road in front of the hotel. Very well situated for an 8-minute walk to the ferry to Beilstein. I'd stay here again.
We went with Newmarket tours for the Christmas Markets, the room was awful cold the sockets were on wires hanging down the wall with a bank of four swinging on it, the wardrobe was small and could only open 1 door as the television covered the other door, we were trapped upstairs as the stairs were bocked off every night, the lift worked but took you to a small area that was locked so couldnt get out, we were not told where the fire exits were, quite frightening. Avoid it
