As a stop over on the way to Spain we selected this wine estate outside Montpellier. Very nicely renovated and with a beautiful restaurant overlooking the wine yard, outdoor and indoor pool and spa. So far so good for the brick and mortar. However, the in-house sommelier was

Response from verchant, Directeur général at Domaine de Verchant

Dear Sir, We have taken note of your comment. We met at the time of your departure and I renew our thanks for this stay among us. We are sorry if the sommelier seemed confused. We actually organize paying tastings with a selection of wines from our region. On the other hand, the tasting of our wines of the property in our shop at the time of the purchase of our wines for example is free of charge. Regarding the breakfasts on your note, after checks, it is during your reservation that you have chosen and checked the booking and billing of your breakfasts. They were billed automatically at check in. Our receptionist, at check out, has presented your bill for verification purposes as we do for all our guests, you indicated that you do not want to check it and you have paid with your credit card. After payment, you indicated that you did not take the billed breakfasts. Our receptionist is not authorized to refund and she called our Room Division Manager who indicated to refund them immediately on your credit card. On the first 2 tests using your card, the payment terminal did not work, the front desk called me to validate the refund in accordance with our procedures and by the time I arrived, the 3rd refund test was successfully. I validated your refund. We are sorry that this left you with a bad impression but we are used to these procedures, your card just did not pass the first 2 times. We hope to welcome you soon Best regards, The Management

I chose this place to recharge my Tesla while staying in Montpellier. It has several superchargers set up with same norms as other Tesla superchargers. Convenient as Montpellier lacks superchargers. But this should not be the only reason to choose Verchant for your place to

We stayed three nights and really enjoyed this place. The room was modern and beautifully decorated. The staff was helpful and friendly. Plus point was the possibility to bring our dog with us. Only 10 minutes away from city center and wonderfully located between the wine yards.

We have ended up in the hotel by a sheer coincident as we have booked a room in a Hotel in Montpellier to realize that we can't park our car in any proximity to offload our massive volume of luggage. We arrived at Domain de Verchant late at night, to receive the most welcoming

This was our second time on this beautiful wine hotel in the south of France. The hotel remains very beautiful and clean. Very nice atmosphere, need to improve the attention of the people that work on the breakfast room, they need to be more friendly. On the spa they need to

Dogs are allowed in both restaurants and bars and in the grounds generally. They are not allowed by the main pool but we did have our medium sized dog with us by the smaller pool.

We live in NY and visited as part of a road trip around France. Our timing was according to the timing of our trip. We arrived on April 28th for 3 nights and it was lovely. We wanted to visit Montpellier and we also wanted a hotel with an indoor pool. However, as i think i mentioned in my review, when we arrived the desk clerk said, "We have 3 pools. One outdoors is not heated; one is. The third one is indoors." Well, one pool, clearly quite old, had no water and was filled with trash that was being removed while we were there. The 2nd outdoor pool is large and beautiful and was also not heated; a lot of hotels in France claim to have heated pools, but the reality is that they rely on the sun for the heat. (My pool at home is heated by a heater!) The third pool, indoors, was lovely, but small. My wife and i easily had room for laps as long as nobody else was in the pool simultaneously. The breakfasts were lovely. The dinners were terrific, but they were very subtle about offering an expensive cheese course: "Would you like some cheese?" When we complained about the huge charge that was never mentioned, they removed it from our bill. So be careful--unless you don't care. Bottom line, i suppose by the end of May one or both of the outdoor pools would be swimmable and remain so on nice days through early September. But not everyone swims.

How easy is driving in thecity and how is parking at the hotel?,
I would not recommend driving in Montpellier city. There is a fantastic, modern tram system. The trams are designed by Christian Lacroix and, apart from being stunning, are efficient and run to time. In the old part of the city, you would want to walk and explore the narrow streets. At the Domaine de Verchant, a member of staff meets you at the gate to park your car, away from the front of the hotel. There is plenty of parking space.
