Not a 5 star experience. It's an iconic building, but the hotel is lacking in real style and the kind of welcome and care and attention that you'd expect at this price. The staff in general were nice enough, but the restaurant evening food was pretty awful. Tasteless and overcooked main and dessert. The breakfast options were poor and the breakfast room overcrowded. Not worth €25 for breakfast by any stretch of the imagination. The room was nice enough as was the pool and jacuzzi, but to be honest we had a better experience later in our holiday when we stayed at a 4 room chambre d'hôte elsewhere in Brittany where the host tok real care to make sure we had a great experience during our stay. No-one at la cigale really seemed to care. Not recommended.

From moment of arrival in our car we had a sinking feeling. We had booked an inside car space. But no one at the door, came to greet, so we unloaded our bags and carried them in ourselves eventually. We then had to hand key over and ask concierge to park the car. He was helpful - but hotel needs 3/4 more of him.. At check- in a trainee spent 10 mins telling us prices in the spa - for which we cared little - before handing us our key and pointing to lifts .. So we could find room ourselves apparently . More senior staff were nearby. Fortunately our bags were taken and and put on a trolley at this stage.. They were brought up eventually and barely carried inside room door , but no effort made by him to come in, explain services/technology in the room or even ask if there was anything we needed We had found our room and key didn’t work but door was unlocked . TV remote had out of date batteries and didn’t work ( which since no printed hotel details - bar spa prices of course - which was a nuisance, presumably room service and hotel details only on the TV?) Air conditioning was turned off. We eventually asked reception up twice and to be fair they sorted both issues out promptly. Coming back from dinner keys did not work again, back to reception and keys were re programmed without apology.. Though there was a mini bar in the room it was empty.. In my business with connections and clients and in my profession I judge hotels on their own claims, ratings, and on what they say and offer to guests and whereas above are generally trivial they are not ( as I will comment fully elsewhere ) consistent with any true “5 star” in my and my colleagues experience and views.. Outside in a nearby field, with a deafening noise and vibration was a “pay in “ public party and a barbecue all afternoon and evening barbecue that ran ( reception told us ) every day from afternoon till 11.00 at night - even with doors shut the electronic music, vibration and bass was pounding everywhere.. Could be just at weekends, we didn’t stay to find out. Interestingly ( though hotel appeared half empty) when we complained we were told rooms on other side of the hotel were better but they were all booked out .. We stayed Friday and Saturday and were told to complain to the Mayor. The noise meant we left entire area for each of our 2 days stay but had to put up with it any where in or near the hotel - I appreciate its not within the hotel’s control but a warning even apology would have been nice .. The hotel policy seems to be to ignore it. We would NOT have stayed in town never mind hotel had we known or informed . Incidentally on return in our car from an outing to escape noise - once again there was no one on the door - we carried our own bags in to the two concierge inside laughing and chatting to themselves and again had to ask for car to be parked - no greeting.. trivial but we stay 5 star where possible all over the world and have never seen anything like it before.. Finally food - breakfast - a reasonable buffet - but No printed menus and no dishes offered / cooked on request - only staff around were there to clean up tables. As all over the hotel has mostly trainees only and not enough even of same. Did not see any of the senior staff anywhere. - Dinner was also disappointing. We cancelled the second night - food not great - limited menu and poorly cooked, from frozen in some cases - we’ll comment on that elsewhere. Checking out same concierge came to the room to bring down our bags, got our car up AND loaded the car with the bags - heaven knows what would have happened if he was needed elsewhere Overall disappointed in hotel and area. We will be reporting to our colleagues, clients and connections etc on our sites. Two stars in our recommendations here as basics fine - It’s a 4 star hotel and staff, communications and extras are not up to scratch. Also not impressed with whoever permitted the afternoon and evening racket in such a nice area ..!!!

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Right on the coast, near the marina and its wonderful shops and assortment of restaurants. The spa, the pool and the restaurant are all first class. there are so many places to walk and appreciate the area. The service is impeccable. Definitely a destination for rest and relaxation.

My husband & I stayed here on our tour of France. We very much liked the hotel. If I could, I'd rate it a 4.5 due to the issue that the AC wasn't turned on yet in the rooms. We were here in mid April. Its location was excellent being close to the restaurant & shopping area. The store were open until 7 during our visit. A 10-15 min. walk from the hotel is Le Petit Mont which is worth visiting. It's a tomb from the Neolithic time that the German Army used as a bunker during WWII. Our room had a wonderful outside deck with a view of a lake. It was great to sit there & visit with others on our trip. I liked the room décor with the whites & light tans. There was lots of space in our room with a nice couch, comfy bed, a TV, Nespresso coffee machine & desk. The bathroom had 2 sinks & a walk in shower. The breakfast buffet had great items to chose from including a section with gluten free items. We had dinner there one night & enjoyed it especially the desserts. The pool looked very inviting & was on the top floor. I wished we'd had time to use but sadly no. Also there was a workout room on the same floor with a fantastic view.

Spacious well appointed room with ocean view balcony. There was a coffee maker and small refrigerator in the room. Decor was light and contemporary. The hotel was a short 1 block walk to shops and restaurants on the harbor front. We had a breakfast and dinner there that were quite good. Since this is a summer resort area, some area shops and restaurants were starting to reduce operating hours.

We had a very nice holidays in spite of rainy week, thanks to warm and helpful staffs, especially at concierge and breakfast restaurants. However, thalassotherapy spa’s receptionist seemed to be preoccupied by something, and couldn’t help me to choose right cure / treatment for me, made mistakes on reservation and my room number, so I didn’t receive materials in my room before treatments. When I asked them at the vestiaire, her colleague didn’t want to arrange them and was unhappy. So I was obliged to back to the reception desk, where her another colleague was also unhappy, so I did go-and-back myself to receive spa materials without any apologies from any staffs. For a spa in a 5-star hotel, I expected a slightly higher hospitality. The treatments were very nice and I really enjoyed them.

+ Unusual and spacious building, with outstanding services. The staff - reception, concierge, restaurant everywhere - were extremely friendly, professional and Covid conscious. Their arrangements for the virus were unobtrusive but comprehensive, well explained and followed by all staff. Excellent levels of service, beautifully finished and comfortable room, fine supportive bed and very comfortable pillows (with choice). Superb breakfast choice, the best we have had in France in 20 years of travelling. The heated seawater pool was a joy, and very quiet when we were there. - None.

Yes it looks like a seafaring vessel. Lucky it is only a short walk to the ocean. Windy with a high surf when we were there but pretty. If there is a concert in the park, be aware that the sound carries. The room and bathroom are large and quite appealing. The restaurant in the hotel is quite good at fish, but for something a little less formal, walk into the town. The mussels in LeCap Horn were amazing. The Cairn de Petit Mont on a cliff at the ocean is good to see cairns and a pillbox bunker.

The hotel is brand new, large and comfortable rooms, a big indoor pool, large Jacuzzi, two (rather expensive) restaurants, free valet parking and very friendly staff. The view from the room window is breath taking.

The hotel is situated very near to the port and beach and is handy for lovely walks. The staff at reception and the concierge staff are very helpful. The hotel is very clean, and the superior sea front rooms are spacious. Good quality toiletries are provided but unfortunately no shampoo nor conditioner is provided. Bath robes and slippers are available as is a Nespresso coffee machine. The bed and linen are of excellent quality and the hotel is very quiet and peaceful with a wonderful sea view. The Safran restaurant is poorly managed and a disgrace to the hotel! Reservations are not respected. They take reservations but do not allocate tables to hotel guests, so tables are allocated on a first come first served basis, irrespective of whether you have booked or not, resulting in 45 minutes to 1 hour wait for a table despite having reserved. Not acceptable for a 5* hotel. There was a long wait during the Sunday evening buffet for the sea food to be replenished. Hot plates were available for the cold food and frequently, plates were not even available. Spoons for desert were also missing. Staff initially refused to serve coffee at the table - again unacceptable. Value for money and service leaves a lot to be desired. As a result, we decided not to eat in either of the hotel restaurants again during our stay. The Thalassa area is very pleasant but needs renovation. Peeling paint and rust was noted. The staff are not at all welcoming. Additional towels are not available, so you must walk the length of the hotel, past the spa reception to request a dry one which is given reluctantly. The choice for breakfast is very good but the cooked breakfast is lukewarm. No value for money.
