We booked 5 mins before arriving having rejected our original booking elsewhere on sight. We were eventually accommodated in a lovely room but being welcoming is free and I’m afraid the initial reaction of the receptionist was somewhere between dismissive and irritated. All was well once she’d worked out where to put us but why not just smile while you’re sorting it out. Another grouch I’m afraid. The receptionist pointed out the restaurant but did not suggest booking. When we went there at 7pm it was very surprising to say the least to be told we’d have to wait an hour to be seated! Furthermore a man, presumably the head waiter/maitre d’ didn’t speak to us directly, even though we were standing basically in front of him, but rather relayed the information to a waitress standing next to him, who in turn told us. Needless to say we ate elsewhere but it’s disappointing that haughty service is still so prevalent in France. The room was nice and clean, the hotel is very central, and there is free parking, but...…
It's a very nice and spacious and beautiful property, Clean Rooms with a good size bed. The boss Jan Van Der Herten, gracefully welcomed us and assisted with all hotel and nearby area information. Welcome with a SMILE :-)
Extremely good experience at this hotel for the long Easter weekend. The staff is very kind, the hotel is nice and the food was very good. The breakfast buffet is perfect for those starting a long hiking day! The great plus is the private parking, so convenient.
I have never been in a worse restaurant than this. Completely ignored by staff. Took more than an hour to order a beer. Ordered a Ardenese ham. After 30 minutes received a ham sandwich, for no obvious reason. Returned it, plate went straight to another table. Never got my Ardenese ham. Left after 2 hours without getting my food. Unfortunately there is no no-star rating.
We enjoyed our stay but the hotel is a bit outdated. I don't think price Quality is the best. The food was not splendid. It's not high on my list of favourite food places. It' just good. But i wouldn't come here again as it is expensive for what you get
My husband and I have visited this hotel on several occasions. It is bang in the centre of town. It has a great private carpark, lovely 3 course dinner each evening, the breakfasts were great, plenty of choice. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly - nearly all fluent in English. In short, this is a real find and we love it here. At the weekend we took 4 other biker friends to the hotel and they all thought it was a lovely hotel and didn't deserve any negative comments!
We stayed only one night because we wanted to visit the wild life park. The hotel is a bit tired. They are renovating though. My biggest frustration was that the site said there was wifi but not in the bedrooms. We sat in the bar area but that meant you had to order something. So effectively with a group of 4 you spend 10 euros for every internet session. Breakfast was good. We had lunch there. Three of us had the XL burger which no one really liked (it tasted strange apparently) I had the brie baguette which was delicious. On the whole, not terribly bad but I would not recommend it to anyone, expecially not for the 92 euros per room I paid.
Some features of this hotel are nice and it could be a great hotel. The restaurant is large and pleasant. The breakfast was mostly very good (apart from the rock hard rolls). The bar area is pleasant. The spa area is very nice and clean. But it is greatly let down by other aspects. My room had mold on the walls and ceiling (photos available). Some staff were sometimes pleasant, and other times miserable. The bar maid, who also served breakfast, was permanently miserable. The hotel claims to have internet. It does... but only on the ground floor. I started using it in the bar, but just after 10:30pm they decided to close the bar and go home, so I had to sit on the stairs. While sitting there, I noticed that water was dripping down, so I told them. Their response? "Sit a few steps higher and it won't drip on you."…
We booked this hotel for its location, we stayed one night, personnel was very friendly and helpful. Rooms spacious and great value for the price. Large screen tv good bed, Hans sur lesse is very quiet we had room 215 street side and didnt hear a thing. Right accross from the Grottes and the natur parc. I forgot my cellphone recharger and they mailed it to me at no extra cost,. Thank you jan.Breakfast offered a good variety of meats chesses and the usual bread and buns well presented. A very nice place to stay
The hotel is nice, the rooms are simple but they are worth the price. Bathroom is quite old and it's impossible to take a shower without spilling water all over the bathroom. The restaurant is good and prices are fair for the food you order. We stayed with our dog, which is allowed but you are not allowed to leave the dog alone in the room. The wellness area is also nice. Good base to explore the region, the caves but also the hiking routes in the area..
