There seem to be few hotels in this area of Belgium optimised for business travel, but this one fitted our requirements very well for a five-night stay.

It has a central location in Lommel (this is not the hotel on the ring road), with free overnight parking available on the square directly outside. There may be a couple of daytime restrictions during the week due to the local market, but the hotel staff will advise and there is another free park just a few minutes' walk away.

On arrival, we received a very warm welcome, and a brief on the hotel's procedures. This is important as the reception is not staffed 24/7, though there is a phone on the desk to call should the requirement arise. The hotel is also what I would describe as functional. There is no bar, no gym, and they don't do dinner, though that was not an issue for us.

Check in was super efficient, and I was soon in the lift to my fifth-floor room, best again described as functional, though quiet, clean and comfortable. The room was fitted with a TV, had a selection of tea / coffee facilities, and lots of storage space, plus a safe. It was also appointed with a microwave and sink, like a very mini kitchenette within one of the wardrobes.

Breakfast was from 06:45 during the week, which again suited our business day requirements. It's not the biggest selection in the world, it's not designed to be or practical for it's size, but there was enough cereal, muesli, nuts, fruit, yoghurts, pastries and a few hot options to suit. Plus one of those large fresh orange machines where you feed to oranges into the top and it does the business for you.

So no dinner or bar? This was not an issue since literally within two minutes' walk guests can find a number of bars, restaurants and coffee places, good ones too. Indeed, Lommel kept pleasantly surprising us.

Knowing that this is a functional yet comfortable hotel in a convenient location, we had a really good stay and would readily recommend to book again.

Terrible experience, we ended up abandoning our stay and went somewhere else for our last night.

1. The air conditioning did not work at all in the first room. The air conditioning did not work consistently in the second room.
2. The shower struggled to drain in the first room.
3. The towels were not replaced after being removed from the first room after our first night.
4. The floors of both rooms were not hoovered when they were cleaned by house keeping and the rooms were generally filthy.
5. There was no TV in the second room.
6. The balconies were both untidy.
7. The bowls of the toilets in both rooms (and the foyer) were brown and grimey.
8. The shower and bathroom situation is unacceptable. A twin room is usually for two individuals and the shower/bathroom allowed for no privacy.
9. A member of staff woke us up at 3am on the last night and let himself in to my room.
10. The beds were barely made by house keeping.

This is somewhat of an acquired taste. It's a pretty new hotel, with a thoroughly modern look. The rooms have lots of lights, including BRIGHT ones, so you'll be able to get as much or little light as you want, once you've worked out which the right switches are. The bathroom has glass walls with artwork on (naked women in pink in my room, others have different designs and colours), which might not suit everyone. There is a large blind which can be pulled down over the glass wall facing the rest of the bedroom if required, which is where the excellent rain + wand shower is. My room had 2 single beds pushed together, a small chez longue type sofa, and a couple of block stools of different heights, one of which was fine to sit at the desk and work for a short period - no back support of course. There is a large TV and a drinks tray with kettle (powdered milk supplied). The reception is on the first floor, where the breakfast is served, and it's best to use the (not so fast and often self-cancelling the call request) lift to get around the hotel, as the grey concrete stairwells don't seem each to access many floors, so are really meant for emergency exit use only. There is no on site restaurant serving food in the evenings, which didn't suit me on this particular trip as I wasn't feeling well so was forced to go out when I'd have rather stayed in. On another occasion that wouldn't have bothered me at all. They do serve breakfast, which offered some hot and cold food, and there was a machine making juice from freshly squeezed oranges which was nice touch, but on balance the breakfast had less to offer than many business hotels. On the plus side, it was included in the room rate, as was parking in the underground car park, so it was cheaper than average. They also didn't enforce the 48 hour cancellation terms when I left early due to feeling ill, which was nice. The hotel is well located for access by car, situated on the N71 just south of the town, which is about a 15 minute/1.5km walk away.

Overall rating 3/5

I booked a small party here after having visited the Achel Trappisten Brewery before continuing to Mechelen. Very handy and central hotel with very friendly staff, and both rooms and breakfast was of good quality. We all had a good stay in Lommel and we also found some very good pubs/ restaurants in town...:-)

I have stayed there at least 20 times.
If it is a business trip to Ford, yes this hotel has the best location. So go for it...
But for holiday, it has no pool, no sports center nothing. Plain room ans restaurant which is not open for lunch and dinner.
The price is exaggerated.
There are better hotels with same or lower prices in Lommel.

Had a short stay here for the second time this year.
Hotel is well equipped, clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Rooms are also well equipped with Internet terminals, charging sockets along with good wifi.
Breakfast is self service but more than adequate with fresh orange juice and good coffee. Breakfast bar well stocked to suit all ages and most tastes.
Hotel is centrally located with good restaurants , cafes etc. Within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

If you have a choice staat elsewhere.
Reception was smelling of smoke when we arrived.
Room was small. Minibar contained a whole two small bottles of water.
Although the building is some six stories high, they have managed to use nothing more than cardboard for the walls. If your neighbour breathes loudly, you wíll hear them.
Breakfast was average.
All this for the princely sum of €140 for the night.
Lommel seems to have a shortage of hotel rooms for some reason, but if I need a bed there in the future, Corbie apart will be on the bottom of my list.

Have been here twice for business and not disappointed. Hotel is clean, staff are friendly. Located a couple minutes walk from Lommel town centre with loads of bars and restaurants to choose from. Showers are a bit funny if sharing a room as the wall is glass and you can see out and they can see in!
