If you want to immerse yourself with mountains, enjoy a great SPA, get active outdoors hiking or biking and still have delicious Austrian food: this is the place to be. Stayed 3 nights which seemed perfect and will def come back!
Booked 1 night in the family room on short notice (2 days before arrival) to escape the heat wave in Germany. Already the booking process through their website is fantastic with live chat function! Use that rather than any portal. At arrival we spent most time in the Spa which is simply amazing! Beautiful views combined with comfortable rooms to chill out and relax. Dinner was also very enjoyable. All in all, a real treasure in the Alps! We will come again
At the end of the road in the karwendel mountain range lies this gasthaus..fine dining on the terrass with perfect view on the impressive mountain range. You can hike to the end of the valley where perpendicular mountains stop you. Heading back to the car we take late lunch in the gasthaus and the kids play in an alpine playground with healthy foot bed spa facilities..this is the best..alpine treats and local weizenbeers make up another petfect day in Tirol
The Alpengasthof Gramai is a gorgeous spot in the middle of the Karwendel Mountains. We stayed there as mountaineers with backpack and climbing boots. Nevertheless we were very warmly welcomed by a friendly receptionist. The hotel has recently been completely renovated and the rooms as well as the public areas have been very tastefully furnished. It's a place to immediately feel comfortable. Service staff was strikingly friendly, efficient and fast. Price/performance is very adequate. As I said, it is a place to return, especially as the environment is equally gorgeous.
We stayed in this hotel with friends for 5 days. The location is simply fantastic. It is located at the end of a valley some 10 minutes drive from Pertisau. The hotel is a stand alone property. It comprises of the hotel itself and two adjusted “mountain” restaurants, playground and stabling. There is a large parking lot there tends to be full of cars and buses during the day. It is a very popular destination for bus loads of seniors and children. The rooms are relatively small and simple but clean and cozy. The large restaurant and its terrace are coping with hordes of people everyday. Some of waiters speak English, German gets you further. The staff is polite and helpful Food is absolutely fabulous. We tried always something different, everything was delicious. Breakfast buffet offers wide variety. Lunchtime is very busy but we never had to wait too long. Dinners, after parking lot empties, are quite. Adjacent alm (mountain restaurant) offers meal in rustic style. One can also buy locally made cheese, bread, bacon and sausages. The playground is well equipped. Kids can play day for hours while parents watch over them from the terrace enjoying views on the mountains and an apfel strudel with cream and ice. The top attraction of this hotel is its location. It is at the end of the toll road from Pertisau. Drive slowly, the road is narrow and used by cyclists, too. At the toll boot you inform them that you are going to Gramai and you will get a “pass” valid for the duration of the stay at the same price as a single entry. The hotel is so isolated from the village that it generates its own electricity with generator. Cell phone signal, a very low one, is available only on steps outside the hotel. Right from the hotel’s door several hiking trails start. Indeed, many restaurant visitors are day hikers returning from their hike. The valley around the hotel is narrow, bordered by steep mountain walls. There are several options from relatively short and easy hikes to longer and truly demanding ones. You can find hiking tips on the hotel’s website. Pertisau is located on Achensee (lake Achen). It is a very charming village with many hotels. There is a cable car to the top of the hill above it that offers wonderful views on the lake and surrounding mountains. Other possibility are boat tours on the lake. There is a golf course in Pertisau. Shops are quite pathetic in Pertisau. There is a bit better choice of stores in Maurach that is 5 minutes of driving away. We did not mind since we did not go there for shopping. We genuinely liked the hotel and put it on our list of go-there-again places. If I have to point out some drawbacks it would be the hordes of daytime visitors and smoking policy. Most of the restaurant sections allow smoking. Since the hotel part of the hotel is not separated from those restaurant sections the cigarette smokes can fill the hotel through the stairwell.…
