We had a great stay here. We stayed in one of the apartments which had been newly renovated. I noticed some older reviews mention that the apartments were outdated but that seems to not be the case any longer. Our apartment was updated, clean, quiet, comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen looked brand new. There is no AC but it doesn't need it, the windows all open, it cools off nicely at night even if it's hot during the day. We ate at the restaurant for dinner two nights, they also have pizza and other options you can have in your room. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The only thing I want to mention so that people are prepared, is that the apartments are separate from the main lodge and there is an uphill walk to get to the restaurant, reception, pool, spa, etc. There is also no elevator in the apartment building and a lot of stairs to haul luggage and yourself up and down. If you have mobility issues, then the main lodge is probably where you should elect to stay instead.…
Very comfortable hotel with amazing view over Matrei. The hotel gets extra points for funicular (did not expect that!), yummy breakfasts, the pools and location. We stayed in an apartment and it was perfect for three of us. The hotel seems to have a lot to offer families with young children.
It is always great to come back to Goldried, this time though there was a disturbance - the spa was filled with unattended children and rude young teenagers at all times. Their screaming and splashing water totally spoilt the calm moment you expect in a spa. You have to be 17 to enter bur nobody seemed to bother. A tip if you are skiing is to get a lock for your skis - one morning one of our pairs was gone and then returned in the evening again. Probably accidentelly ”borrowed” but very annoying for us. Apart from this I can only recomend Goldried and hope that next time the spa is a spa again.
We löiked Goldried a lot. Plenty to do, good quality and fresh place. Food good in restaurants! Good to be able to do ski in, but lack of course ski out. Not the biggest ski are but the hotel was really good including service given.
The view is nice. The renovated spa/swimming pool is modern and good. Staf is friendly. On the negative side (at least to our standards) the apartments are VERY outdated, not enough light, noisy dishwasher,...The breakfast was not okay nor from a food or a covid pov.
We had an appartment with a nice view on the mountains. The hotel is nice, but really outdated and must be refurbished. There was no cleaning during the day, but the service at the reception was good. The pool area is New and looks good.
Travelled to this wonderful hotel in June 2019. I would like to thank the staff for making our stay exceptional. We were delighted by the room and the facilties in the hotel. The swimming Pools were exceptionally clean and beauiful. The help extended to us by the staff in reaching the train station when we could not catch the bus because of it being a holiday was outstanding and we are all very thankful for that. We Will remember that timely help for a long time.
Our stay at the Goldried was excellent! The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant served delicious meals too! And the views of the Austrian Alps were beautiful!
Our party of six adults had two apartments on the third floor. The view from our private balconies was amazing...sunset over the Alps is really something to see! We weren't with a tour group so we ate in the a la carte restaurant (don't remember the name) and couldn't have asked for better service or more delicious food. Parking in the garage is available for a small daily fee....well worth it to us to not have to walk up and down the hill to the satellite parking area. Would love to visit again!!
Make sure you spend time in the town below, we happened to be there for their harvest celebration, we got to meet the people as well as see them in authentic Austrian dress, had a wonderful time experiencing there culture
