Hotel 12 is a lovely, design and cosy boutique hotel in the middle of the ski station Gerlitzen Alpe. The location is the best possible if you want to ski: you can access the ski lift after a small pist down and come back to the wonderful sunny terrace (above the lake!) directly skis on the feet. The rooms we had were all comfortable, big with nice views on the surrondings from their balconies (specially the "Pig" one, with a gorgeous view on the lake). But the best was really the warm welcoming from the team who tried (and managed!) to make our stay as good as possible. The food for diner (4 dishes menu) was every evening a wonderful experience. We were very sad to leave but we will go back for sure.
Stayed here for one night with hubbie as an anniversary surprise In August. Booked this as it was different from most usual hotels and that really appealed. We didn't have much of a view as it was cloudy, but we both really enjoyed our stay none the less. Struggled to find the reception area, as it's behind covered door, but that was our only problem. It was quiet with few guests, but the staff were friendly and attentive. This small hotel is stunning, room was fabulous, clean and comfy. Our dinner was cooked freshly and authentic, as my Austrian husband said, it reminded him of when he was younger. Chef came out and spoke to us about the food as well. Breakfast was just as fresh and lovely and they had English Tea, a bit of a rarity in Austria I find. Would love to return, perhaps in the snow...…
This hotel is a short walk away from the Hotel Feuerberg. Nice, modern and art restaurant. We had steak with salad and potatoes chips. Fish in banana leaves with grilled vegetables and cooked potatoes. The staff were nice and helpful. It tasted very good. Nice view and good place for relax.
Counting the 12 turns in the road leading up to H12 was in itself a brilliant experience. The sharp turns and trees covered in snowflakes and embankments piled high with snow, had me enchanted. I couldn't wait to arrive. Then we were there and I climbed out the car to warm greetings and hugs from the incredible staff. We walked through the entrance and straight outside on to the balcony and with Mumford and Sons playing one of my favourite songs over the sound system, I cried. It was just THAT beautiful! There are very few words that can aptly describe the view but it quite literally takes your breath away. Staring across the valley far far below and over to the magnificent snow capped mountains on the horizon was meditative and momentous. From outside to in and up to my room and the warm cup of Jasmine tea that greeted me, more hugs and more tears of happiness with Melanie. I stayed in the Room of The Pig (my birth year) and it was warm and wonderful. The little hot water bottle nestled in the big fluffy duvet and giant pillows a lovely warm companion for the night. I woke up at 6 to sunrise over the mountains, went downstairs and outside. Then I fell in love - with SNOW! I danced in it, I built a snowman, I behaved like a 10 year old and threw snowballs. It made me laugh and cry and sing and it was just the best thing in the world. Delicious breakfast, warm inviting company and incredible artworks. Thank you Walter and Lori for sharing your dream and Melanie and Vanessa and all the other staff for keeping the dream alive. I cannot wait to return...…
in the moment you arrive near the top of the mountain your sole starts to rest and mother nature and your instincts take over. the warm cosy wellcome is pleasant and very different to your normal arrival procedure in a hotel the next thing which takes your breath is the fantastic view, if the weather is good and the relaxed atmosphere dont forget the food, mamas kitchen best to describe and the nice service, austrian hospitality from its best what impressed me is the combination of cosy hotel , not luxury but home feeling and the combination of art which you find in all rooms and the entire hotel, a unique concept
We booked this hotel quite randomly through hotels.com, as we were looking for a place to stay to break up the drive from Italy to Munich in August 2015. We had a great stay. The hotel itself is very unusual, with interesting art and decor at every turn. The view was fantastic and waking up above the clouds was a beautiful way to start the day. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent quality and the staff friendly and went out of their way to be hospitable. The only minor downside was the drive up a very steep and narrow road to get there. Just be aware if you are a nervous passenger!
Curvy - very long - road before you reach the hotel at the mountain top, fantastic view welcomes you. Too bad we only saw it once (on arrival day). It was cloudy and rainy, but we`d expected that. So we booked the panorama suite Pferd with fireplace and couch. No problem to stay inside reading, which is what we did. The room, not bad. Large bed with, unfortunately, rather hard mattresses. Just a curtain between bathroom, toilet and bed/living room. I didn't really mind but would have preferred a separate toilet. Loads of art in the hotel, our room had a beautiful Rhino. On the hotel overall: the kitchen chef also does the welcome part together with a marketing trainee. Bit strange, but there might be more personnel during season which is not now. Very good food was served, luckily we eat everything as we were not asked for preferences. Half board comes as the chef decides. Breakfast: cereals, yoghurt, homemade marmelades from the buffet. Eggs, meat, cheese etc. to be ordered. Nothing special but very decent to start the day. The hotel overall was cold, we really needed the fireplace in our room. Towels were 1 day not changed and I had to ask to refill the shower gel. That should not happen. After mentioning both issues they were taken care of immediately, but still. Nice gesture is the hot water bottle in your bed after dinner. An overall nice hotel, but it lacks eye for detail. All staff very friendly and helpful, come to chat with you - nothing wrong there, but it looks like they are not that experienced in the hotel world. Note on the rating: service is better than 'average' but not 'very good'. I would say 'good'. Note 2: super wifi for all our 6 devices.…
Hotel12 Hotel 12 is a change of pace and a very interesting place to visit. Up on a mountain with a breathtaking view to the valley and town below. It was a rather exiting drive up the access road with 12 turn-back curves, hence the name hotel12. Being off season we encountered very little oncoming traffic. The staff was wonderful and helped us promptly with the luggage and other wishes. The chef’ was great and prepared food we remember to this day. The best “apple strudel” for us in a very long time. It is primarily a ski lodge so consider this an adventure. Special thanks to the staff for making us feel so welcome. After a successful visit and a couple of drinks one might brag about this to golfing buddies T&C
hotel12 hosted a fun birthday party in August '15 where I was a guest. A homey atmosphere, super-friendly staff, awesome food, stunning views from the main terrace ... these are but a few arguments to visit hotel12. If you like the mountains but are not too keen on hiking, this one's made for you - it's just 20 (-30) minutes (by foot) from the peak, and your car can take you right to the front door of the hotel. a tiny drawback: public transport does not go there, so you better have your own car.
I have nothing but the best words to say about Hotel12. The setting is spectacular. One feels like being on top of the world, at 1750 m altitude, with the view of the Ossiacher See down below, and the Slovenian & Italian Alps on the horizon. The food and the service is what makes this hotel truly stand out. The on-site Chef seems to always know how to please ones taste. Wake up to the wide selection of home-made breakfast (even the milk for your coffee or cereal is from a local cow Louisa :-), indulge in a deck-bound book reading with spectacular views and the freshest air, and wind down with a delicious dinner, and very tasty Hotel12 wine. For those more active enthusiasts, there is plenty of hiking in the area. I would most definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back soon myself.…
