The breakfast was delicious and there was enough choice. The prices at dinner are a little more expensive than outside, but still absolutely okay. On Fridays/Saturdays there is also a BBQ and a fire show. The Italian restaurant in the neighboring hotel was also very tasty.

The beach is really nice. I've stayed all over the island, but this is the best balance of a pretty beach that isn't as crowded as others.
The facilities are great - the rooms are clean and comfortable and fairly modern, the pools are clean, well located and reasonably sized. The breakfast buffet had a typical selection of breakfast items and an egg station. The food was pretty good quality and clean/well protected from flies etc. The dining area and tables are really comfortable and it's lovely to enjoy a lazy breakfast sitting just over the beach and watching the waves roll in.
All of the staff at the resort were really great. A member of the staff, Wan, was very kind and helpful, and the manager, Tanya, was super accommodating and she made a great effort trying to help us to find a new ground level room, because my parents in law couldn't climb the stairs to the hillside rooms we had booked.
If anyone you're travelling with is disabled/old, don't book a hillside room (great sea view and sunset), because the highest rooms need you need to walk uphill for a few minutes and there's no cable car. There are ground level rooms that are perfectly accessible.

First impressions were excellent! Exclusive welcome facility at the port including free, covered parking, transport to the private speed boat with meet & greet on the island and efficient transfer to the resort. Do remember that there is a National Park Fee of THB.200 to be paid as you arrive!
The plentiful staff were excellent, always friendly, attentive and smiling. Check-in was effortless and complimented by cold towels and a charming welcome drink. The property is a traditional, beachcomber resort style located on the scenic bay with a ‘driftwood’ character. If you have booked a Hillside Deluxe be prepared for some good exercise with many stairs.
Our room was of good proportions in a colonial/wood décor, quiet and efficient air-conditioning, day bed in the window and comfortable balcony looking towards the sea. King size bed was large with a firm yet comfortable mattress. High thread-count sheets with a choice of firm and softer pillows. The bed linen was fresh, well presented without any creases.
The bathroom was clean and functional. Excellent hot & cold water pressure in the glass panelled shower with superior amenities. Towels were large, soft and without signs of wear.
Breakfast is a full buffet (despite the few guests) with a variety to suit all tastes. Our first dinner was on the beachfront veranda of the Breeze restaurant with its unpretentious style and ocean breeze. Two menus were offered, and we enjoyed excellent authentic Thai food on our first night. Again, attentive and friendly service. The hotel does have a reasonable wine list, but should you prefer to bring your own, please note the THB.500 corkage!
During the day there are two recreational pools and the splendour of the Ao Prao beach with sun loungers scattered under the shade of the palm trees. Excellent quality beach towels.
There are three resorts on Ao Prao beach and two belong to the same company offering an extended choice of dining options. On our second evening we chose the Buz Coco Club at the Le Vimarn resort, a relaxed, up-beat restaurant with a choice of casual seating. The menu is a good attempt at up-scale Isaan cuisine but was surpassed by the delicacies at the traditional Breeze.
Conclusion: Sensibly priced for the level of comfort that we received. Enchanting location with just 3 resorts on the beach. Quiet on weekdays and probably livelier at weekends. An excellent choice for a romantic beach getaway and under 3 hours from Bangkok. The shore facility and private speedboat transfer is a big plus. Not luxurious but classic Thai beach hospitality. Highly recommended!

We stayed in this beautiful resort for 16 nights from November 14th to November 30th. The stay was pure relaxation for us. All the staff at this resort do a wonderful job and play a big part in making our vacation unforgettable. I would especially like to highlight the incredible friendliness of all the staff at this resort. The location of the hotel is just perfect for anyone who wants to spend a quiet and relaxed day sunbathing, snorkeling and reading. The water is crystal clear and very clean. We only booked breakfast because we really wanted to eat out in Asia in the evening. For 200 baht you can take a taxi to Koh Samet City, which takes about 7 minutes. The food in the resort is also very good and of a high standard. Be sure to try the Passion Mango. It's a dream. The breakfast buffet is absolutely top notch and completely sufficient. We can 100 percent recommend this resort and will definitely come back again. Best wishes again to the entire Ao Prao team. You are simply brilliant and great people.

This is our fourth time at Ao Prao. And again we like it very much. This time we're in a Hileside room. This is the most affordable category in the resort but also meets all our expectations for comfort and amenities. As icing on the cake there are great views. But you should already be fit because you have to climb a few steps to the rooms.
Very good for couples or families with different tastes are the two restaurants with authentic Thai food or Italian food. Unfortunately, it has not been fitting to enjoy a cloudless sunset until now. But if so, then this one is breathtaking. especially from overlooking the Infiniti pool. You can also experience it very well from the restaurants.
A special experience is the speedboat ride directly to the resort. The car can be parked directly at the mainland pier free of charge and monitored. For us the perfect resort with a short journey from Bangkok.

Ao Prao Resort is the prefect example of an excellent resort. This is the fourth time we stayed at Ao Prao Resort and we have an amazing time every-time we visit it! We usually stay for longer than a week.
A great beachfront retreat with a beautiful scenery, breathtaking sunsets, amazing staff and a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable and the view from the balcony is astonishing.
We love the beach so much and it is one of the best beaches we have ever been. It feels like a private beach with very clean water and great place to just chill and relax.
The Buffalo Restaurant which is inside the resort has a wonderful atmosphere with delicious food. We truly enjoy the breakfast there.
The service is excellent. They have a wonderful staff who knows how to serve the costumers with excellent hospitality!
We are very grateful to all the brilliant staff but in particular would like to thank Mint, Tanya and Bird who were incredible and extremely helpful throughout our stay.

Ao Prao resort is located on a lovely beach with clean sand and gorgeous swimming in the shallow waters. Rooms are large and well set up (we had no 306 overlooking the swimming pool and beach). There’s a choice of restaurants both in the Ao Prao hotel and neighbouring establishments. And there’s a lot of choice in the town, a 200 baht taxi ride away. Staff were fairly unobtrusive but friendly and helpful when asked. One minor quibble - I was surprised to have to pay 600 baht to take out a sea kayak. It wasn’t a big deal but when we were paying over £1,000 for 4 of us to stay it seems stingy. But overall, Ao Prao is the best option for a relaxed stay on Koh Samet

The perfect end to our 2-month break. Pure relaxation after 6 weeks of intensive travel through New Zealand. The resort is located in a beautiful, clean bay, together with 2 other hotels. We stayed in a beach cottage with all the comforts for a week. Everything was very clean, with comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom with a rain shower, and bathrobes. Beach chair, flip flops and umbrellas were also part of the furnishings. A fruit plate in the room to welcome us. Every day we were given 4-6 bottles of water in our room. Room service was top-notch with always surprising decorations. The hotel manager Shin greeted us warmly and later asked if everything was OK. We were also offered a drink by the pool. The resort has 2 pools, the Breeze Restaurant with good local and international cuisine and a bar. In the morning there is a varied hot and cold breakfast buffet with fresh regional products. In the evening you can also eat in the other 2 restaurants in the bay or take a taxi to Ko Samet City, where there are countless options, but it is not exactly quiet there! We preferred our cozy Breeze with the very friendly, always cheerful staff. Wan and Somchai advised us on what to eat and drink and also gave us other valuable tips. A big thank you to the whole team. If you are looking for peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle, this is definitely the right place! We really enjoyed our stay.

but you can pay yourself and use other boats during 8am ad 6pm or the Samed Boat service, I think it was 2000THB on way.
Because you would be leaving outside of the complimentary motor boat transfer times you would have to pay for a private motor boat to take you from Ao Prao Resort to Rayong Beach (Ao Prao Pier). The manager at Ao Prao Resort could organise this for you or alternatively Samed Resorts could probably organise prior to your stay. I was quoted for a private motor boat transfer 2600-3000baht for two adults but not through Samed Resorts. A chauffeured standard car for 2 adults from Rayong Beach to Bangkok International would be 2800baht or executive car 3100 through orientalescape website
you can walk but i dont remember it being connected very well.. i took a public transport like an aut / tuk tuk and got off at the public beach and walked around there..
Ao prao is secluded and is very dark and quiet at night so would suggest coming back a little early in the evening if you plan to walk back.
There are more places to choose from in the Ko Samet area.
