The resort is located on a beautiful beach!
The bungalows are ok but a bit run down..
Unfortunately, only the people at the reception speak English, the service staff speaks only Thai. We were not satisfied with the service, little attentiveness and unfortunately also little warmth. We have experienced this differently in Thailand so far.
Also the food portions are rather small and relatively expensive!
I would definitely come back to Koh Samet but to another resort!
Ps, to get to the island you need to book a speedboat! Prices vary by provider. About 400 Baht per person.
On the island you pay another 200 Bahnt National Park fees.
Plus, there is no ATM on Velet anymore, so be sure to withdraw enough cash beforehand!

Returned to Koh Samed again two years since Covid pandemic. The island resorts and businesses have been totally decimated by Covid.I stayed Vongduean beach and apart from a few Thais there was absolutely nobody there.I felt so sorry for the locals as they’ve had hardly any business for two years.

On previous visits I’ve stayed in the beach bungalows but over BT3000 a night I stayed in the newer block of rooms overlooking the pool.Surprised they’ve kept the same prices as most hotels seem to be about 50% cheaper than normal due to lack of customers.

The beach and the sea are wonderful with crisp white sand and azure coloured clear sea.

As the resort is very quiet there we’re just a few staff.Breakfast is the usual egg station, fruit, bacon, sausage,Thai porridge plus tea and coffee set overlooking the sea.

It’s a fantastic place for couples or family holidays but in my opinion the prices are far to high at present.

NB To gain access to ferry/speedboat crossing to Koh Samed a negative Antigen test is required which you will be taken by side car from ferry port to local clinic takes about 20 minutes before you’re allowed to cross to Koh Samed.

Overall beautiful island an hours taxi ride from Pattaya but rooms far too expensive.

Just a short slow ferry or quicker speedboat is the pleasant island of Koh Samed.
It’s been a year since I last stayed during the Covid pandemic where the island was almost closed and totally empty to seeing this time a bustling island with lots of tourism.
There are a number of beaches on Samed but I normally vouch for Vongduean beach which is very relaxing with seaside bungalows, seafood beach restaurants & a white sandy beach.
Samed Cabana has older wooden beachside bungalows and a modern two storey block with decent sized swimming pool. The rooms are clean and adequate.Low power water shower and limited tv channels.
Personally I think the price is too expensive for what’s on offer but I do enjoy the beach environment and pleasant surroundings.

I’ve been visiting Samed Cabana for quite a few years and from previous reviews I’ve always said the location was fantastic but like other reviews the place was run down.

However,on this visit it was great to newly refurbished rooms with comfortable clean beds and linen,a working and a tv working with various channels plus a clean bathroom.

Location is fantastic with bungalows right on the beach overlooking the calm warm waters. It was very busy as it was the weekend during the high season and prices are expensive.

It’s fairly straightforward to get here once you have arrived at Ban Phe on the mainland, you get a speedboat across from Nuan Thip pier for 200 baht one way, then 50 baht for a shared sawntaew here.

Staff are friendly and pleasant with a mixture of Thai,Cambodian and Burmese.Breakfast at restaurant is more than adequate with usual egg station, cereals, juices, tea, coffee and fruit.

Overall a very pleasant stay.

In terms of location, one of the most beautiful resorts on Ko Samed, as it has a wide beach that is still wide even at high tide. It is also located in a quiet, idyllic bay and the beach in front of the hotel belongs to the hotel guests practically alone, unlike White Sand/Sai Kaew Beach, where there is far too much hustle and bustle for my taste, as guests from all the hotels further away from the beach also go there. The rooms were in very good condition, although not brand new. All the bungalows were very close to the beach, we were in the third row and it only took 2 minutes, which meant you could quickly get something or go for a shower. Breakfast was very plentiful and good, there was even cereal. The only small drawback was the shower, which didn't produce much water, but it was fine for us.

I’ve stayed Samed Cabana approximately half a dozen times over the years and always enjoy coming back to Koh Samed.
Vongdeuan is a beautiful white sanded crescent shaped beach with warm turquoise waters.
Samed Cabana is broken up into prime beachside bungalows which are in desperate need of an upgrade and smarter new rooms in two up two down blocks of four away from the beach around a nice swimming pool.
Prices remain high at over 3000 baht a night for the bungalows as they are a popular weekend getaway for Bangkok Thai families.
Even though the wooden beachside bungalows have a fantastic location they are extremely old, poor lighting, uncomfortable bed, cold showers and limited power points.
I paid over 3000 baht for a supposedly double bed and for two singles to be put together with single sheets. It came across as very poor.
Even when I managed to come here during Covid and was the only westerner on the beach, the prices never dropped,so obviously the hotel are happy with the situation.
I noticed the hotel this visit had been taken over by a new company so hopefully they will implement measures to improve the very old beachside bungalows.
I still love visiting Koh Samed but will give Samed Cabana a miss until bungalows refurbished and maybe prices go down.

We’ve book 3 rooms of beachfront and sea view rooms. I found a mouse in a sea view room toilet at 3:30am. And this hotel doesn’t have anyone to service until 7am. I had been calling asking many time until 7:30am, they send maid with a dry towel…:( . A mouse wasn’t in toilet anymore but it’s in the bedroom, and they have done nothing beside saying it went out but nobody see where it went!

I pay total for 21,000 bath and I feel disgusting to live with a mouse in the room.

We initially sat down here in this restaurant in the evening because it looked nice, with decent prices and had a lot of full tables.
We took three Curry dishes and even with telling them before that we would like it less spicy the food that we got after a very long waiting time (some people that came after us got their food much sooner) the food was the spiciest we encountered so far in Thailand! Also the portions are much too small for the price.
The 2stars are for the top location on the beach and not smelling like raw fish like other restaurants on this beach.

Over priced hotel on a noisy (but beautiful) beach. The rooms are small and old with paper thin walls to the room next door. The breakfast is of low quality and if you like good coffee then this is NOT the place to be. There must be a management of the hotel who don’t really care ably whether customers return or not.

We were only in the restaurant, not in the resort. The portions of our Thai food were very small, but expensive. We had to search for the meat, or rather the prawns, on our plates. Very disappointing food. Service was OK.
The location right by the sea would have been perfect. What a pity.
