Returned to Koh Samed again two years since Covid pandemic. The island resorts and businesses have been totally decimated by Covid.I stayed Vongduean beach and apart from a few Thais there was absolutely nobody there.I felt so sorry for the locals as they’ve had hardly any business for two years. On previous visits I’ve stayed in the beach bungalows but over BT3000 a night I stayed in the newer block of rooms overlooking the pool.Surprised they’ve kept the same prices as most hotels seem to be about 50% cheaper than normal due to lack of customers. The beach and the sea are wonderful with crisp white sand and azure coloured clear sea. As the resort is very quiet there we’re just a few staff.Breakfast is the usual egg station, fruit, bacon, sausage,Thai porridge plus tea and coffee set overlooking the sea. It’s a fantastic place for couples or family holidays but in my opinion the prices are far to high at present. NB To gain access to ferry/speedboat crossing to Koh Samed a negative Antigen test is required which you will be taken by side car from ferry port to local clinic takes about 20 minutes before you’re allowed to cross to Koh Samed. Overall beautiful island an hours taxi ride from Pattaya but rooms far too expensive.…
Stayed here for 5 days in a beach front cabana. Overall very good experience. The resort itself requires a little TLC but good service, clean rooms, excellent food and very good value for the dollar. Excellent beach with massages, water sports, etc available for extra but very reasonable. Lots of staff to help out whenever needed.
I am currently staying here in Samet and we are having a bad experience. The rooms are ok and the Resort is in a great location on the most beautiful beach but the breakfast/ restaurant is terrible!!! I am not a fussy person especially when it comes to food but this food is so bad i wont eat it, and its not even cheap! The staff are all really young and no one seems to know what is going on. This resort too expensive for the quality even tho we got a great deal, its still not up to standard.
Did not stay in the resort, passed by and the restuarant looked very inviting, however service was very poor, ordered 2 simple Thai dishes, Morning Glory, and Chicken with Cashew Nuts, after waiting 40 minutes the waiter told us it was just being made. The waiter explained they were very busy, but there was a maximum of 20 guests. Paid for our beer and bottle of water and left. For an establishment that charges high prices per room per night ( the rooms looked very nice from the outside) you would expect superior service. The food and drink prices were also higher than other places on the beach. The rating is based only on the experience I had in the Restaurant and not the entire resort experience.
Hotel located in the centre of Ao Wongdeun on Samed island. Bungalow on the beach front is super, clean and well equipped. Staffs are friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is good and they also have good cocktails ( happy hour buy one get one free ) However, room B9, bathroom door need to be improved
I seldom complain but i am urged to write as this used to be such a nice resort.... Now everything is run down..... Not cheap at thb 4500....4 star price but 2 star product and service....... No beach service... Food average... No coffee.... On sunloungers no cushions and no umbrelllas.... Bungalows old..... Beach not clean.... Bottles of previous day..... Staff not attentive..... F&b prices not low but you dare ask 4 percent cc commission which is not even legal...... Sorry i used to come more often but will not come anymore.... Sad.....
Arrived over from the mainland for a few days by speedboat to the small portable jetty in the centre of the beach and a five minute walk to Samed Cabana. We had a beach front bungalow which had an amazing position overlooking Vongduean Bay.the beach is beautiful and the sea turquoise, clear and Luke warm. The bungalow is average at best with small room and small bathroom, adequate air conditioning and tv with just a couple of western channels plus wifi. We had breakfast which was very poor.We arrived just after 9am but the Chinese had been there long before us so almost all the food was gone.Lots if dirty cigarette butts around the restaurant.Staff just wanted to clear the restaurant without anyone coming to see if we needed anything. Rooms very expensive for standard plus nothing outside resort roadside. If just want a beachside bungalow overlooking a beautiful white sandy beach but without much else and are willing to pay top end prices then Samed Cabana and Koh Samet are for you.We arrived during the middle of Chinese New Year which I’d strongly advise booking during this period. …
We initially sat down here in this restaurant in the evening because it looked nice, with decent prices and had a lot of full tables. We took three Curry dishes and even with telling them before that we would like it less spicy the food that we got after a very long waiting time (some people that came after us got their food much sooner) the food was the spiciest we encountered so far in Thailand! Also the portions are much too small for the price. The 2stars are for the top location on the beach and not smelling like raw fish like other restaurants on this beach.
Free WiFi great location. 9 years ago I stayed in a beachfront room this trip we stayed in a sea Iew room. We can actually see the beach. Unlike 9 years ago where they had the fat TV now they have a flat screen. Rooms reasonably sized. Breakfast a lot better than I expected. Will definitely come back.
We have arrived back home today (Bangkok) after a four night stay at Cabana Resort on Koh Samet. We are a family of four - 2 adults and 2 children - and stayed in a little beachfront bungalow. My first impressions were that it is massively over-priced. We had a big double for myself, my husband and my youngest daughter and a small day bed for my eldest. Surprisingly, I slept very well. The mornings were peaceful and the sound of the sea kept me dozing on every morning. The bungalow was very small and very basic. Admittedly, the view is beautiful but for £100 a night, I’d expect a little more space, a cleaner and generally a smarter and tidier room. I think these rooms should be half the price. I agree with a previous review that a seaview bungalow is sufficient. They are set behind and are still very close to the beach but with better privacy. The staff worked very hard to tidy the beach, serve food, carry luggage and clean rooms to the many many tourists flocking on boats to the beach every day. This hard work does seem to be taking its toll on their motivation and enthusiasm. I felt the breakfast at the resort was poor. The flies were awful. The bread was stale. I think the restaurant needs a different plan for catering breakfast and perhaps should offer guests freshly prepared food selected off a menu - to avoid the fly infestation. We ate there for lunch and dinner and the food that we ordered off the menu is great. There was one time that there was a muddle over our order and we had to chase it up but generally they worked hard to get the order right. That being said, staff could have been a little more welcoming. The beach loungers were plentiful but needed a good wipe down with a wet cloth. The beach was surprisingly clean, despite the quantity of tourists. The resort advertise it as a “Private Beach” but it’s public but the loungers are for the guests of Cabana or random beach goers who pay a daily fee. The pool was very nice and clean and exclusively for guests of Cabana. The poolside rooms seemed newer, smarter and a little bigger. So, worth a stay if you can get a better deal. Four days is enough. Bring plenty of insect repellent and big beach towels.…
