My last visit to Tubtim was 4 years ago and the place remains the same. A bit better value this time around simply by paying far, far less. At one point there was a pier being built on the beach but I guess it was temporary as it is no longer there, the beach is as beautiful as ever. Service in the restaurant had improved. Breakfast as expected of this type of resort. The mosquitoes are still hovering like crazy - bring plenty of mosquito repellent.

Dirty, Dated and Dilapidated #Tabtim Resort. Mosquito Paradise. Booked "garden" view. Got a roof view. No hand towels or Shower Mats. Water pressure is a problim. Shall hand held shower which gets flooded. Dirty White see through curtains. No kettle in room. No telephone. Restaurant is rather expensive (50 THB for a small packet of lays. Dirty Fan and Aircon. Several notices to keep your belongings safe, which makes one feel very uncomfortable. Resort is quite far away from the centre. Doesn't have or offer laundry service. Room wasn't cleaned for 3 days while staying here. It's a relaxed escape, we didn't eat at the resort. Went next door mucg better quality and reasonably priced. Went to Silversand Bar which is 40% cheaper that #Tabtim.

After a shockingly unfriendly email trail where in the end I was told by the reservations department to book somewhere else after I asked to be put in touch with a manager. After that email I was never again was able to receive another reply, so I booked through an online agent. A bad start did not improve when walking up the stairs at least 10 meters away from the front desk a lady shouted to our group 'you have reservations huh', no welcome, no niceties and quite unlike any first impression I have ever had. A staff member showed us to our room in the N block, but no assistance with our bags which we had been lugging around for several hours whilst travelling to the island. The island police jumped on us demanding entrance onto the Island fees, we did not understand what they were referring too, as they spoke no English, the staff of the hotel did not even try to assist. The shower gave very little pressure or hot water and the amenities consisted of a bar of soap and tiny bottle of shampoo, none of which was replaced for our several days. Apparently we had to ask if we wanted housekeeping to clean our room, most bizarre when spending close on 12000thb for 3 nights. The lack of care continued with the restaurant service, mostly Cambodian service staff with very little English, even our Thai friend received wrong orders. Waiting time for food approximately 45 minutes to an hour and the food does not come together. The food is at most adequate and the breakfast is not worth including in the room rate with ham and chicken sausages totally submerged in cold water. The egg station and muffins were all that we were able to manage. Location is great and at least the room was better than expectation, clean, light and adequately equipped. The view from the balcony was beautiful, the bed comfortable and the AC worked well. The system that you had to write your name on a table in the very early morning was dated and ridiculous. Many tables were booked and not used until much later. Early risers would get to the beach before sunrise book their table then go back to bed. It seems the land of smiles somehow missed this resort. So sad as the potential to be a fantastic experience is destroyed by clearly no staff training or any visible management presence, thus leaving the staff to their own devices.

The resort itself is ok, the beach is nice but gets quickly crowded, too crowded. They dont have a line of sunbeds (available for rental only), but front row tables/chairs which get booked by the same people everyday, so no chance to get a coffee or lunch on the front row and this is not acceptable, it should be limited to few days or hours, especially when the people who book only show up at noon time, what a waste. They charge for hot water pot, which is also not acceptable as there is no kettle in the room, i would understand if it was for the restaurant but not for take away, and not for a 2000b a night bungalow. Bungalow itself is ok, except the see through white curtains, no chance to sleep late in the morning, bring your eye masks. The staff is surprinsingly friendly for a thai island resort, so that would be the good point, the only one.

Very good hotel with excellent team! The water is clean, the sand is beautiful. They make you feel so very welcome and definitely I’ll return! The breakfast is nice with Thai and western food. I stayed at T3 sea view. Beautiful and clean room. The air conditioning is quite strong also.

It's not five star luxury but our mid-price hut with air con for about £40 a night was fine. Massive clean bed, electric shower and air con all that is needed. We looked at the most expensive accommodation for our next visit and it is very nice, very modern minimalist style...only downside being there are four units with amazing sea views, the rest of the 'sea view' rooms at the same price were 'glimpse of sea view' so it's a bit of a lottery. Fantastic beach yards away, quite busy at weekends but never too busy, very quiet weekdays. The bar and restaurant attached to the resort are very good, no need to wander further but plenty of choice along the front. From Bangkok it is a bit of an adventure - it took us six hours by taxi (the resort will book upon request which we would strongly recommend) , boat and open back truck from landing. There is no need to book a boat to the island, the local ferry runs every hour, costs pennies and is an experience in itself - a a taste of the real Thailand! The ferry office is at the end of the pier. If using the ferry it takes you to the harbour on the island and it is a five minute drive along bumpy roads in open back truck to the resort. Alternatively you can use a speedboat taxi from the mainland and this will take you direct to Tub Tim.....not overly expensive but I would advise asking Tub Tim to book this for you. Either way you will have to pay 200 Bhat per person entry to the island as it is a nature reserve/conservation area. This is collected by national service military and is rigorously enforced so keep the ticket with you at all times...even when visiting other islands if you go on a boat trip (which is recommended, fantastic snorkelling). There is also a tiny landing fee if you use the ferry to the island. Negative comments on here about breakfast and staff. The breakfast is basic, catering for both European and Asian palates. Tons of gorgeous fresh fruit, eggs any way you want, beans, fries, yoghurt, cereal, toast, etc. for us Europeans. Plus a lot of stuff for the Asians that they enjoyed but we weren't brave enough to try!! We thought it was absolutely fine, and everyone else seemed happy enough. We found the staff extremely helpful and polite, as are Thai people in general - courtesy and respect for others is ingrained in their culture......using the Thai 'greeting' of 'praying hands' and bowed head goes a long way in mutual smiles. For a budget beach holiday you probably can't beat it - including flights and all transfers from London, twelve nights accommodation plus the bill for food and drinks we were well below £2000 for two of us. The transfer from Bangkok isn't the best but won't stop us going back. Not a massive amount to do at Tub Tim - water sports available on the next beach about ten minutes away, lovely walks along the front and it is a twenty minute walk into the town along the beach. But the beach as great, the bars and restaurants are good...what more could you want for unwinding...😎

Tubtim offers a lot of different room/bungalow categories and types. We were looking for a budget room and don't mind missing the seaview and we were very happy with our choice: a bit up the hill, but all bungalows are set in a nice little green area with lots of big trees - some even integrated in the bungalow! We did not try out the restaurant as we explored the surrounding beaches for breakfast and dinner, plenty of options for any taste. But the food we saw in the beachside restaurant looked good! The beach is one of the nicest on Samed, especially for kids - nice sand, some shadow, shallow waters and a small platform to swim out to. A few speedboats come and go to pick up/drop off guests, but not a lot of traffic in this bay. You can easily walk to the next beaches both sides. Don't miss the charismatic Trio Bar on the beach! THE place to be any evening, also for families as it has a lot of games to try and sand toys.

Pros: Beautiful Beach, relatively quiet, accessible and convenient location to bars, restaurants by the beach and mini mart. Great Rooms. Cons : Staffs were not friendly or welcoming. Service was really slow. Had my dinner and waited quite long for the staff to come to you with the menu. I ended up going up to one of the staff to ask for it. We ordered fried fish, fried rice and omelette. Our food took almost an hour to arrive. It’s not even busy. There’s only another family beside us. Luckily, the food was tasty. Wish the staffs would provide mosquito coils. There are lots of them and on the second last day, I could not take it as it disturbed my sleep so I bought the mosquito coils for 50 baht in the convenience store at the place itself. It helps but still, I came back with lotsa swollen souvenirs bites on my entire body.
