After a long four week trek from La Paz to Lima, we wanted a week on the beach and I had heard great things about Mancora. We found CasaBarco on the internet and were swayed by the great photos and reviews.

After a rather bumpy motor-taxi ride to the hotel were just stunned by the view our chalet had in the grounds. Beyond a lawn with hammocks lay a beautiful infinity pool and beyond that was the beach and the sea. It took us an hour or so just to soak it in.

As we were there, sunning ourselves we watched pelicans and scissor-tails flying overhead and then caught sight of movement off the coast- a school of Humpback Whales. Unbelievable.

Emilio and his staff were fantastic and really made the experience even more special. Breakfast is included and is cooked for you and for a small price they will buy in some fresh fish from the market and make you lunch. Emilio speaks a little English, but you might want to bring the phrasebook.

The hotel is 15 minutes ride from Mancora central and this lends itself to being a very peaceful stay. There are a couple of really good restaurants either side of the hotel if you're feeling peckish for ceviche or Italian.

The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with murals and artwork, is very modern and has free internet access. The weather in August is clear and hot, but a strong breeze picks up for the afternoon. This isn't a problem, as the palm trees in the garden reduce the wind and make it very pleasant. There are also opportunities to go whale whale watching with Pacifico Adventures, which we did on the last day and saw a mother and calf frolicking.

All in all, this is well worth the visit. It was the the perfect end to a perfect trip.

My friend and I spent 9 relaxing nights at Casabarco after Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu. It was such a welcome relief from all the travelling!
The owner, Filix was a great communicator and helped organise our needs, such as taxis to and from Piura airport and arranging a table and chairs for our room.
The staff were excellent and are now my Facebook friends! Christian will help with any of your needs and Jessica is a fantastic cook. Miriam and Karina are the sweetest too! We ate there most evenings; fresh fish, delicious salad and papas fritas with the best garlic mayonnaise I have ever tasted... The fruit salads are delicious too! Jessica even made me a birthday cake..
My only thoughts for improvement are that they need to upgrade the bathrooms a little, fans in the room would be great (although there is AC it was so noisy during the night) and mosquito nets would be a welcome addition too for us who seem to attract those pesky little beasts!
All in all a very chilled out stay and we left with heavy hearts...

We stayed here for 4 nights in August. We really enjoyed our stay. We dealt with Filix by email when we were booking, he has excellent English and it was very easy.

He organised a private transfer for us from Piura Airport for about $100. It was expensive but it is a 3 hour journey and we were very glad we did when we arrived into Piura Ariport after dark. There is a reliable and regular bus service from Mancora to Piura for about $15 which we could have taken back to the airport but we were feeling flush that day so we booked the private transfer again!

The hotel is lovely, spotlessly clean, peaceful and tastefully decorated. The garden and pool are great and the endless beach is just down a few steps. Jorge and the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic, as was lunch. We didnt have dinner there. We ate dinner in Italian next door which is very nice, if a little pricey. Town is about 40 min walk either on the beach or on the road. Mancora itself is rough around the edges but there are some good restaurants and all the services you need.

The only negative, we got an insane amount of insect bites! Not sore or ichy but didnt look very attractive! Not sure if we were getting them on the beach or in the room at night.

We would definitely recommend Casabarco. The setting was so romantic I even proposed - successfully!! Mancora is a bit of a trek from Lima, so if you are going I would recommend staying at least 4 nights.

We stumbled upon this place while walking along the beach, we had been staying in town but wanted somewhere with a better beach and quieter.

We absolutely loved Casa Barco, it sleeps about 12 people in total and has a relaxing feel. The infinity pool is lovely and the beach was perfect even though there were some large boulder you had to watch for.

We were in room 13, the largest with polished wooden floors. It was huge and had a big balcony overlooking the sea. We had a fridge, cable TV, DVD player, large DVD library. The bathroom was also big with a walkin closet area.

Some of the other rooms are somewhat smaller so ask for 13 if you can.

We arrived for 2 nights and stayed 9.

The host cooks great meals if you don´t want the 10 min mototaxi into town. There is also a good italian next door.

stayed for 4 nights in Feb 2011 with a friend. Very good manager but slightly wayward staff, who seemed rasther forgetful at times - i.e no plates at breakfast, always asked for coffee refills, faulty battery holders on teh safe etc. However it was all done with a smile and its such a nice location with a lovely pool, lots of interesting art and very secure. I would definitely go again but avoid rooms below near the swimming pool boiler room where the noise was a bit intrusive.

We enjoyed our 10-day-stay at CasaBarco very much: very smooth and friendly staff, excellent view on the sea, very delicious food!

Its a kind of family atmosphere there. The house is decorated with many works of art (pictures, sculptures, floor, etc.) made by the owner, very nice! The staff is very relaxed. The cook makes very good original Peru food to adequate prices. By tuck-tuck, you go in 4 minutes to the center of Mancora for ca. 1 Euro. To the beach its 20 seconds down the little "hill". But also the nice and high-quality pool (with jacuzzi) offers a fantastic view to the pacific. We experienced the most beautiful sunsets there. Check out the pictures at Facebook!

All in all, we liked it 100% at CasaBarco and can absolutely recommend this lovely place.

Wonderful place to relax. Beautiful beach, nice garden, pool, great service, wonderful room and the very best ..... Jorge!
His food was delicious. What more could one ask for then to tell someone at breakfast what you would like for dinner and then just show up and it be even better than you imagined.
Easy walk to town over the beach.
We are already planning to go back, soon I hope!

The hotel is nice but the noise is terrible. They have a neighbor who plays music all night long and they can't handle it because he is a military. DONT COME TO THIS HOTEL! YOU WONT SLEEP A WHOLE NIGHT! Even Mirella, the manager of this hotel, could not manage this. You have better options to find in the web, here you won't sleep.
