Totally local spot, not amidst high rises. Hotel is literally on the beach and you can hear waves as you fall asleep. The rooms were clean and sufficient nothing fancy, with a simple breakfast of eggs and toast with coffee/juice. Loved eating right over the beach! We walked from here to Luquillo beach and kiosks easily and it was so relaxing instead of driving. The rooms don’t have great soundproofing into the hallway, we stuffed a towel at the bottom of the door and didn’t experience any problems even though it got busy the second night. Overall would totally stay here again, I feel like it’s a hidden gem in the area.
Very nice stay at this B&B. Beach was deserted everyday so we loved the privacy. Neighborhood seems a bit run down but always felt safe walking around. Location to the kiosks was great. Had 2 bedroom room with two balcony's over the ocean. Would defiantly stay again.
We enjoyed this small hotel. The whole staff was so kind and helpful. It is in an old neighborhood, but don’t let that deter you. You’ll be greeted by some roosters and loud coqui frogs, but they won’t keep you awake because the beautiful sound of waves crashing on the base of the hotel drowns our everything. This is on the water. It is old, but renovated with new tile foyer and bathrooms. Modern shower heads with great pressure. Beds were a little old, but ok. Rooms were small, but no reason to spend much time in them. Crazy not to be out enjoying the waves. Great location. Close to Yunque Rainforest and walking distance to bigger beaches and famous Luquillo Kiosks. Short drive to kayaking in Bio Bay. I’d certainly stay there again on our next trip.
We found this place by accident. It was great, very reasonable price and it was great to get a nice hot shower after a long day. Nothing fancy but a great view and nice to fall asleep listening to the ocean waves. The surf is a bit rough so not a good beach to get in to the ocean but beautiful open air balcony area to watch the ocean
Are you looking for a quaint hotel that literally sits right on the water? Hotel Yunque Mar may be right for you. While the hotel doesn't have the frills that you will experience in a brand-name location, it's everything you need for a relaxing stay in Luquillo, Peurto Rico. There are 13 rooms and 2 suites in the building - the staff was incredibly helpful and kind. Each morning, you can get some breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ocean (where I am sitting typing this review right now). The breakfast is simple but effective, like much of the hotel, making it a really great value. But the view and the location are the key selling points of this place. From the hotel, it's a short drive or walk to the Kioscos of Luquillo, a strip mall of restaurants, shops, and entertainment; a 15-20 minutes drive to the Yunque National Forest, a 10-15 minute drive to 'downtown' Luquillo; and about 30-40 minutes to San Juan with ready highway access. The nearby Luquillo Beach is sheltered and long and is a walk or a short-drive away. We found the hotel quiet, even though it was fully booked. The sound of the waves is inescapable, so if that bothers you look for a different lodging location. If, however, you find this sound to be very relaxing, then you came to the right place. WiFi works well, but the two routers are positioned at the ends of the building instead of toward the 1/3 and 2/3 marks, meaning that the middle rooms are going to have little to no connectivity. If you are looking for WiFi connectivity while in your room, make sure you are at the front or back of the buliding for room choice. The hotel turned out to be a really special and very cool spot to stay during our time in Luquillo. We were very happy to have found this spot.…
