I have traveled the world and stayed in all sorts of places, from the funkiest to the most lavish. I must say that the hospitality, welcome, and sheer beauty of Katamah is over the top. Such a gorgeous setting, anything you need will be accommodated, the uniqueness of the property and it's amazing location, and again and always, the staff and family who run this place are so heart-centered and generous. I visit Treasure Beach regularly, and it is my only go-to place when I'm there.

It's simple -- just choose Katamah and you will surely have an amazing experience!

Katamah Guest house
When I decided to visit Jamaica for the first time I knew I did not want to stay in an all inclusive hotel and that I really wanted to find a unique experience for myself. After doing lots of internet searching I decided to stay at Katamah beachfront guesthouse in Treasure beach Jamaica. I was picked up at the airport by Phillip a super friendly and knowledgeable resident of the Treasure beach community, Phillip took me on a great drive down the coast to Katamah and we checked out the Mausoleum of Peter Tosh and had some incredible Jerk Chicken by the side of the road and I knew already that I had made the right decision. On arrival I was warmly greeted by Karim and Monika who showed me around the place and took the time to explain the sustainable tourism idea of Katamah and how it relates to the Treasure Beach community. All the time the sound of the ocean surf is a constant reminder of how close you are to the beautiful ocean and its almost empty beach. They showed me to my amazing room right on the beach, a super clean and perfectly arranged cabin in paradise. I was overwhelmed by the room and its proximity to the beach, for the next seven days with the relaxed atmosphere of Treasure beach and the Katamah staff I felt my body healing from the stresses of day to day western life. I meet amazing people from many different countries and helped myself to the use of the communal kitchen and complimentary coffee and loved the idea of the honour bar. The people of the town were amazing towards me and always had a smile and kind word. There was music in some of the bars in the area that you could easily walk to and simple dinner fare at three restaurants within minutes. If you love peace and quiet and are looking for a real experience with real people Katamah is the place for you. It has rustic charm with all mod cons and a friendly staff. It was the best vacation I have been on and I plan to go back again as soon as I can. I am not a religious person but my stay was almost spiritual as I felt connected back to life as it should be for all of us. Oh did I mention the incredibly beautiful Sunsets!!
Thank you Katamah for helping me see what is truly important in life!

Very nice place on the beach in laid-back Treasure Beach. We loved the simple rustic yet stylish and comfortable rooms and cabins at Katamah. They have created a little oasis which is the Katamah area. On one side the beach, on the other Kim's streetcorner bar and central part of Frenchman's Bay of Treasrue Beach. We were well looked after by most charming host Moni and team there. Very friendly and helpful. Access to communal kitchen with free coffee and tea and cool drinks available 24/7. Laundry servicw available, free parking on the area. The area feels safe and private with a fence around it yet somehow open end welcoming at the same time. Will surely come back.

"The Laila" was our room for the weekend. Upon arrival we noticed there was secured and ample parking within the property. The staff was very welcoming and showed us to our room which was spotless, and perfectly decored.
There was also a kitchenette, outfitted with a refrigerator, kettle, tea cups and wine glasses.
The Laila is closest to the ocean which you can see from the bed and hearing the waves crash at night is everything.
There is no restaurant on property you can however use the communal kitchen which is very central. In addition to that there are many great restaurants in the area and the food is amazing and fresh.
The Wifi was accessible throughout the property and Moni and Simon were very friendly and willing to assist with any questions or concerns we may have had.
Katamah is our new favorite stay-cation spot and we will definatly be returning soon.

We stayed in the room called Laila. It had an enormous bedroom with a 4 poster bed with mosquito nets, plus a single bed, a conservatory area with seating, a well equipped kitchen area, a bathroom with a freestanding bath plus another bathroom area with a great shower. I absolutely loved the room which was decorated with beautiful Morrocan furniture and a verandah area with a hammock and books. The whole site is dotted with hammocks and comfortable seating as well as an "honesty kitchen" where you help yourself to drinks. On the first morning the owner Simon came down and had a long chat with us - he is a very friendly and welcoming guy. My favourite memory is waking up to the sound of the waves as the property is on a beautiful beach and having a fantastic massage in the grounds by the lovely Empress who runs a portable spa service. I cannot wait to go back again.

Katamah is a safe scared space to heal, connect with your soul, get charged by nature. Ideally located on the beachfront with local shops a 1min. The owners make every effort to attend to your every need. There is Aunty Dawn cafe for breakfast or Ghee Whizz for lunch. I cooked lunch on site with local fruit and veg bought from local farmers.

We discovered Katamah when we were looking for somewhere for our honeymoon last year June and since then, we have visited about 6 times and counting, as Katamah has become our home away from home. Moni and Simon always treat us like family, as do the rest of the staff, making it so that it was like we never left. We have stayed in different rooms, each giving such a unique and beautiful experience. Every time we visit, the property grows and evolves, making it feel like a new adventure, but still staying true to the love and warmth we felt the very first time. Katamah's location is also so central to amazing "just down the road" food spots that are a must visit, with also one of the best beach fronts you could ask for. It's a no brainer! The BEST choice for visiting Treasure Beach.

Katamah is a dream. My boyfriend and I stayed last year at the beginning of the pandemic. It was a haven and became a home away from home while we were stranded in Jamaica due to lockdown.

The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay.

The setting is magical, stepping out onto a long stretch of Jamaican beach from the private gardens and a stones throw from the best local and eateries - Diners Delight being our favorite place to eat on the island.

The accommodation itself it thoughtfully constructed and decorated, most of it being hand built by the owners themselves. Each room has its own unique vibe and views into the gardens or onto the beach. We ended up staying in two different rooms on separate occasions and honestly felt like each were perfectly thought through and designed.

Thank you so much Katamah, we can’t wait to come back xxx

When we booked this place and received emails with rules and ‘do and do nots’ we started to regret that we had booked this expensive place (the most expensive during our 14 days roundtrip in Jamaica). These mails didn’t feel very welcoming. Katamah is located at the beach side on a plot of land where different rooms are spread. You are able to walk from the premises straight into the sea. We stayed in the ‘Berry room’ and were not impressed. The room (on top of another room) is big but dark and with a view on some other houses. It is advertised with a kitchenette which is however not really a kitchenette (much too small). The joint kitchen in the middle of the premises is however pleasant and we enjoyed buying lobster from the sailors and preparing them ourselves. Restaurants and some very small ‘shops’ are around at walking distance (including a superb bakery with nice pastry and quiche). The caretaker is a lovely lady but as soon as she is not around the young helpers are not providing professional service. When we left, they did not have a clue about the bill and we opened the gate ourselves wondering why no one locked it after us (safety?). In short, we think you pay too much for definitely not enough atmosphere and service.

Katamah Beachfront Guesthouse was the perfect place for hubby and me to celebrate my birthday, especially during a pandemic. The beach is litterly a stone's throw away, we could hear the waves from our comfy room. It was so serene, so calm and we had great time. The plus is you can't go hungry, there are tons of restaurants in close proximity or you can buy groceries and use the kitchen on the property. Everything is fresh and clean. Big up to Moni and Simon, lovely hosts...they made us feel safe and welcomed. I can't wait to go back. I definitely recommend you book a stay at Katamah, especially if you're looking for a quiet and restful time.

Thank you for this important question! Covid testing is available here in town at our neighbors Breda Sports Park (10 minute walk or 5 minute drive) offered by appointment/as needed. Guests and family we have had no problem scheduling their tests as needed for flying home. At Katamah, we have the doctors contact so you can make your appointment easily any time after you arrive.

Hi there! Thanks so much for your interest in staying with us would love to have you in March! We are located on the beach and the best swimming in Treasure Beach is one minute walk from rooms to the front of our property. We are located 1-5min walk from all shops and restaurants in town and 20minutes down the road is the nearest grocery store. We have no TVs on the property! There are bars/restaurants with TVs in walking distance Warm regards,

Hi Steve, Many people have commented that Treasure Beach is like 'Negril back in the day"..... If that means that there are no aggressive hustlers, and that you can buy things from the locals like coconuts, Mangos, fresh Veggies from local farmers and fresh Fish caught that day.....If it means negril had no crime and a laid back friendly vibe then yes we are what Negril was back in the day. The locals take care of the tourists and guesthouses and we take care of them. But don't take my word for it come see for yourself : )

There is now another option! The Knoxford Express bus goes from Mobay to Luana (closest to Treasure Beach basically Black River) for about $22 usd It also goes from Kingston to Luana or Negril to Luana for about the same. It has A/C free WIFI and has a good record of being on time. An increasingly popular way to travel around the Island. We are happy to send a driver to Luana to pick up guests at the Knoxford Bus stop the ride from there is about 30 mins and cost just $40 us if that's too much for you budget their is also the option of route taxi from there for about $5 each . Just keep in mind that route taxis run 7-5pm Monday - Saturday ☺️

The Laila room has a kingsize bed and a twin size bed, it's a great share for up to three actually. Also the two beds are separated by a Moroccan Arch. It has a very large bathroom and a shaded porch with ocean views.
