I've been wanting to come to Jakes for 20 years and I finally made it happen. Jakes and the area of Treasure Beach did not disappoint and ended up being the absolute highlight of our trip. Everything about the hotel from the grounds to the rooms, to the people, to the views, was magical. The vibe here is very laid back and we loved it after the hustle of Negril. All of the rooms are unique and offer different benefits depending on what you are looking for and how much space you need. The restaurants on site were delicious, with Jakes restaurant being a sexy little spot to dine under the trees, and Jack sprat being a groovy beachside spot with great music, people, and authentic Jamaican cuisine. The staff was accommodating, kind and helpful. The area around the hotel is safe and cute to walk around and pop into the little shops, bars, restaurants, and supermarkets along the way. We stayed in the mussels cottage which was perfect for us. The sound of the ocean outside ranged from calming to intense. The cottage was in good condition and well appointed. My only complaint is that the beds were really hard. This may be a personal preference, but a pillow topper would have been welcomed. It may have taken me 20 years to make it to Jakes but it won't be 20 years before my next trip. Until next time Jakes!…
Jakes Resort is beautiful and breathtaking. Every staff member we met was amazing. Adrian went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. Kay, Oshane, and Trudy were wonderful. The food was exceptional. Our kids still talk about the french toast! My family stayed at Jakes for 6 nights. Our first reservation was for two nights and we stayed at the Snapper. We loved it so much, we extended for four additional nights but the Snapper was not available so we were assigned Treasure Cot. The cottages were immaculate and beautiful and we could not get enough of the view. It was downright spectacular! We loved the food so much that we invited 15 of our family members and friends to join us for dinner and they enjoyed it. We will be back.
Pelicans Villa at Jakes Hotel was incredible!! Not only was the villa beautiful, but Jakes Hotel ensured we were taken care of. Jennifer the chef cooked us beautiful and delicious meals everyday, while Terry and Adrian made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. We had dinner and massages at Jakes hotel, both were fabulous and the hotel was beautiful. Jack Sprat next to jakes was also a really great spot to eat, but the jerk wings were INCREDIBLE.
We stayed in one of the “Octopussy” units. (aka beachside bungalow.. or honey-moon suite). In short: Everything was great! Here are some specifics. Room: Very private, great view, everything functioned as it should. Note: If you are over 6’ tall, beware the doorways! I asked the front desk for some tape or something So I could tape a “flag” over the doorways to help remind me.. The AC is plenty to keep you cool at night blowing right on the bed. I never really tried to see if it would get the whole room cool in the mid-day heat, but I didn’t want too. PLENTY of ocean breeze, and the room opens to let it all in. The grounds were really well kept and very nice. The staff was courteous. I had a massage from someone that I think may be the best massage I’ve ever had.. sorry I can’t remember her name. Service was a little slow at the restaurant, bar, and next door at Jack Sprat’s.. but set your mode to “island time” and you’ll be good. We ate at least a dozen meals between the two places, and the only negative comment I’d have is that, at breakfast, even if there is a crowd (which in this case means only 8 or 9 tables) don’t take 15+ minutes to bring the coffee.. someone can wait much more patiently with a drink 😉 I’m adding some photos and have to say this: Some places put up few photos and cherry-pick the best, leaving out less sightly parts of the facility. This was not the case. IMHO: better in person.…
We are just back from our Jamaican vacation, we stayed at 4 different properties and my absolute favorite was Hope Villa at Jakes. Before we even reached Adrian was amazing, he gave us options for meals and tours and was in touch with us prior to our arrival which was seamless. When we met him we felt like friends. When we arrived we were greeted by the two members of staff Amanda and Horace who would take care of us like family. We immediately felt relaxed, safe, and at home. They went above and beyond to cater to all our needs. The Villa was stunning 4 bedrooms, a private infinity pool, an open plan living area, and my favorite place the rooftop patio where there is a giant corner bed perfect for sunbathing by day and star gazing at night. The sky was full of stars, We planned meals and Amanda cooked up a storm, hands down the best meals on the Island. Horace went up in the coconut trees and got us fresh coconut water. It was great to just relax at the house and have all our meals cooked for us. After dinner, we went to Jack Sprats for cake and ice cream which was delicious. The house is about 3 minutes from the Jakes resort which we visited a few times and we had lunch there that was delicious and I loved the natural vibe of the resort, It was cute and quaint with 5-star service. Hope house is right on the beach so when you walk out the back door you are on the beach and can take long walks, swim or just watch amazing sunsets and sunrises. One of our highlights was to meet Ms, Sally, truly an amazing inspirational lady, it was a pleasure and honor to meet her. I loved everything about this place and would highly recommend it and can not wait to return. Thank you to the whole Jakes team for helping to make this a very special vacation.…
I loved 😍 this place!! Do yourself a favor and leave the resort areas to go to this gem!! We spent a week here and we would go back in a heartbeat! It's much smaller and boutique which means no massive gaggles if tourist groups. It's very chill and more rustic in a good way! Experience real Jamaica! The ackee and salt fish was amazing --best I've had in the island! The staff were wonderful and helped me plan a birthday surprise for my significant other, complete with making his favorite pie. The rooms are amazing and the views are even better!! Stay here! You will not be disappointed!
From the moment we booked at Jakes to setting up our stay, we had the most incredible service. Adrian was our cottage manager and we received top notch service I have ever received. He was helpful, attentive and made our vacation very relaxing. The house, the vibes of this beautiful town cannot be beat. I will always remember the care and attention that went into each guest at Jakes. I will return in a heartbeat!
I hesitate to write this review because Jake's is such a hidden gem I want to make sure I can get a reservation when I want one! Recently had a vacation with my family and it was wonderful! We stayed in Calabash Villa and the staff was outstanding. Adrian was an excellent concierge and assisted in everything we needed. Damien was a fabulous chef and Rowena and Davion were great at keeping the house and pitching in with the cooking. We can't wait to go back!
The staff here made our experience absolutely outstanding. Beginning with Andre, who picked us up from the Montego Bay airport. We booked transport to and from the resort, which I would highly recommend to anyone who even thinks they may be uncomfortable driving. Andre took us to a local jerk hut about halfway through the trip, which was greatly appreciated. The drive to the drive to the resort is beautiful, going along the mountains and the coast, and you really get a feel for what the “real” Jamaica is like outside the tourist areas of Montego. We felt totally comfortable at all points even with our 11 month old son. [My only problem with travel was the Montego Bay airport, it’s a clusterf*** but that’s obviously not the fault of Jake’s. When we were there one of the customs agents saw we were going to Jake’s and told us we were going to a really nice place, which was good sign #1.] The resort itself is beautiful, not overly curated, the buildings and grounds seem to have happened organically. The waiters, bartenders, cleaners, and staff are somehow both involved and laid back at the same time. Our 11 month old ran a fever while we were there and had his first ear infection, the staff not only knew him by name and asked about him constantly, but also somehow convinced a doctor (in the middle of nowhere mind you) to come check on him during the Easter holiday. They made what was a very scary situation for us as first time parents into a much less scary and much more relaxing vacation, and for that we are thankful. Our room was wonderful, the resort was happy to supply us with a pack n play and anything else we asked for. We were on the top floor of a garden cottage (Cowrie I), the room was beautifully decorated, well equipped, and we were provided with a King bed. There was a nice hammock and a little garden outside our room, we enjoyed the time sitting on our porch. There were no mosquitoes when we went in mid April. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and pool area, the saltwater pool is cleaned every morning and we never felt like it was unfit for us or our child to swim in. As far as dining goes, with the exception of about 3 meals we exclusively dined on-premises. We enjoyed the option of breaking up the regular resort dining room with Jack Sprat. The resort dining seems to be geared (price and menu wise) towards a western crowd. The service is attentive and we came to really enjoy the company of the women who worked there. Jack sprat is geared toward a more local crowd, they have fun beach dance parties with DJ’s and the like. With any of the local dining outside the resort: be prepared for very, very (very) long wait times. Jake’s has something very special going for it that is difficult to put into words. I think most of it has to do with the staff. Everyone there is so friendly and laid back and it’s so very different from attitudes you find in other parts of the world. Going to Jake’s is like a breath of fresh air. Many thanks to the wonderful people that work there, we are already planning our return visit!…
My wife and I spent 5 nights at Jakes with our two small children and had the best time. But you don't care about that, you want to know; "Is Jakes right for me?" If a resort with a kids club and a lazy river give you a panic attack then Jakes is right for you. If you want a place that makes you feel like you are home the minute you walk in then Jakes is right for you. If you are looking for a place that has everything you want to spend your days doing as little as possible with minimal distractions then Jakes is right for you. If you don't want to have a pre packaged experience where everything can be found in the brochure then Jakes is right for you. If you want the option to go to the local Jerk pork stand down the road that is only open on Saturdays and hang out with locals who are friendly and welcoming then Jakes and Treasure Beach is right for you.…
