Travelers' Choice
Maybe you’ve heard that Treasure Beach, Jamaica is a magical place. We like to think we had a hand in making some of the magic. It’s certainly had a hand in making us. Please come and visit Jakes to see for yourself. Rooms. Beautiful rooms. Rooms with Ocean Views. South Coast, Jamaica, Deluxe Ocean Views. Garden views. Funky nomad-style design. Bohemian-inspired interiors. We put the bang in Bungalows. History lives in our Cottages. We have Roots. Alex Haley’s Roots. And charm. Have we mentioned that our Rooms and Bungalows and Cottages and Villas are all terribly, terribly enchanting? And wildly comfortable, too. You won’t want to leave.

Had a blissfull weekend at Jake's, such a great open layout, very laidback vibe, bohemian decor with a sexy villa right on the ocean. The perfect balance of integrating with an interesting collection of guests, and the downtime privacy I was craving. The staff were very attentive and quick. The food came in light speed and was a true representation of Jamaican cuisine at its finest. The fresh catch at Jack Sprat was world class. The sleepy town unassumingly transported me to another world, even though I live in Jamaica, I really felt as though I had left and changed continents. I was very proud of the staff who became friends, they show me how much we as a people and a destination have to offer, and this experience truly stands out..... or as we say in Jamaica, it stan' up....

We rented Pelican Villa at Jakes Resort in Treasure Beach for a little over a week - and words can not explain the joy this house brought to me and my friend. We had not traveled for close to two years due to the pandemic and everything about re-entering “vacationing” was perfected in choosing to stay at this villa. You have seclusion and socialization when you want it. Everything felt pandemic safe, clean and masked. Adrian, our Villa concierge arranged so many special requests from a giant dancehall speaker to play our music while relaxing by the pool, spa days, boat excursions with Captain Dennis and Dante, coordinated surprise room decorations for my friends birthday, and even a pandemic-safe bar crawl (with Oneil highly recommend!) Jennifer was our chef and kindly kept our kitchen stocked daily with fresh cut fruits, coconut water, and whatever Jamaican dinner specialties we requested - curry goat, oxtail, jerk chicken, fish, pumpkin rice, rice and peas, bread pudding, pineapple upside cake....drooling thinking about the love she put into the food we ate. She was such a lovely person to see every morning. Terry kept a watch on everything and maintained the beautiful grounds at the Villa. We appreciated his presence and that the pool was perfection every morning. The location of the Villa provides direct access and views to Billy’s Bay, where the authentic fishermen’s boats dock. We walked the beach every day and rarely saw a soul. However if you are lucky enough to pass by when the fire is going, you’ll likely be invited to join in for freshly caught and grilled fish - do it! Talking to the locals and listening to their knowledge was by far one of our favorite parts of being in Treasure Beach. We can’t wait to come back!

I won't be able to fully explain how amazing our time at Treasure Beach was. In large part to Jakes hospitality. From our breathtaking room to the mouth watering food (Chef Randy!!), my boyfriend and I are STILL reminiscing one week later... Treasure Beach was the perfect combo of adventure and relaxation. Dont think twice! Stay at Jakes!!

From the time we checked in the warm friendly tone was sent. Attention to detail and Covid 19 protocols was on point. We knew we were going love Jakes. Our room was clean, cozy and made us feel at home. Loved, Loved the shower outside. My daughter feel in love with the french toast. Big up to the bartender and the lifeguard who played the bartender when he went help with a wedding party. The restaurant team was friendly and attention to detail was amazing. Loved laying out by the water and swimming. Would make the ladder a little more user friendly. Going up the ladder was a bit tricky so we used the steps. Amazing view. We felt like we were on our own private island.

I came across Jakes Hotel while searching for the perfect post-vaccine getaway. My mom, best friend and I came down together and stayed at Calabash Cottage at Jakes, which was just as beautiful as the photos, and quiet and secluded which is what we wanted. Everything went smoothly from booking to arrival to meeting our driver at the airport, to enjoying the drive, etc. The staff was terrific, but especially Adrian and Davion. Much respect to you both! Adrian generously and efficiently coordinated everything we needed or wanted, and really took care of us, as did Davion. We thank you both so much! We really felt like we were in paradise. And did I mention the indoor / outdoor shower? Such a treat!!! We had dinner nearly every night in the restaurant at Jakes, and the food was fantastic and varied- satisfying meat eaters and vegetarians. We also ate at Jack Sprat and the Pelican Bar - also delicious. It was also easy to walk to the little market and produce stand down the road and buy some of our own groceries. The whole experience was just so relaxing and beautiful. My mom, who can be a tough critic, actually declared it magical, and is already planning on coming back. I could go on and on, but the last thing I'll say is that Treasure Beach feels like a small community, and we heard this several times - people there take care of each other. It felt to us like tourism was in balance with the community, and that's important. If you're debating whether to book, just do it. It's exactly as advertised - utterly charming!
