We enjoyed this quaint hillside inn after being anchored in Prince Rupert Bay for two months on our sailboat do to the Covid-19 hysteria. The rooms were spotless and well appointed. Our second story ‘Skylark’ room had a view of the ocean from the balcony and a most pleasant breeze throughout . There was a gazebo in the beautifully landscaped garden with a hammock for relaxing. BUT, the best part of the stay was Carol Ann’s gourmet breakfast. Delicious homemade pastries, toast, jams, salsa, and sausages. These were served alongside skillet potatoes with fresh dill from her garden, perfectly set scrambled eggs with cheddar and garden salad. The surrounding area, including Point Baptist chocolate factory (Alan is so great) and easy half-day trips to Chaudiere Pool and Spanny Falls make this a spectacular base for exploring the east side of the island.…
After staying at this location and giving it an honest review, the owner had a horrible reaction to the review I gave. The property is beautiful. We originally booked this property before really planning our vacation ( my mistake and I take full responsibility for it). The following is the review I gave on the site used to make the original booking. The host did her best to accommodate our restrictive eating habits. She does advertise "vegan" on the booking website, but admitted not knowing what to cook in e mails prior to us arriving. The site is beautiful, but nowhere near anything. A car rental is essential to stay at this location. The host charged us for eating at her property for 14 nights/days, however we were not there for the entire rental. We only stayed at this property for 5 nights total. We did ask for a refund of some sort, but was told that because we had prepaid for the booking, that it was impossible for a refund. (I wasn't expecting a refund on the nights booked for the room, but a refund for the meals added to the booking would have been prudent) This property is no where near where most of what we wanted to do on the island. The noise from crickets/beetles is very annoying, and there is little to no soundproofing in this unit. (this is compared with another stay we had on the island in a very similar if not nosier area) The cooling comes from fans that circulate air (not air conditioning), which is fine, but along with the outside noise, the fan noise makes it impossible to sleep without earplugs. (even for one of us that can sleep through anything) Probably the biggest disappointment for this particular property is that there is NO hot water!!! Not in the kitchen sink, and not in the shower. I did not sign up for COLD showers for 2 weeks. This was not addressed in anyway by the host. I am actually copying and pasting the response i got from the owner from the original review. (i wish i could copy the screen shot from my phone) "Just saw your nasty and false review. You are something else! You are a liar as well as an obnoxious pushy woman who should just stay there as nothing could please you. Anyone seeing your fake review will know that you are just full of s***. Hope I never get another guest like you." Please don't stay here if you do not want to be berated after leaving honest reviews of your experience.…
Beautiful welcoming guesthouse on the northeast side of Dominica! We only stayed one night, but Carol Ann set us up for a great dinner including transportation and provided one of the most delicious breakfasts I've ever eaten in her beautiful garden gazebo the next morning. She and Nicky even served garden greens and her homemade jam! Wags the dog kept me company on the swing before we ate. The upper floor we stayed in was large and comfortable for two people. We had all the amenities we needed including bottles of water and a small propane burner along with a few pots pans and dishes that we could have used to make simple meals if we'd stayed longer. Carol Ann showed us her little guest cottage that was formerly a classic little Caribbean wooden home she rescued and added a kitchen and bath. With the extra space and privacy, it would be a great place for a longer stay. Rented car would be helpful but it's not far off the main road so there are options. Great place and warm welcome!…
Tucked away on any easy to access mountain is this cozy, clean and well appointed little cottage. The food that was prepared was great as was the service. The village below is an easy trek by car. The cottage had everything we needed.
We stayed at Jacoway Inn for a couple of nights and we loved it. Carol Ann is a great host. She is fun, always up for a good chat and very helpful. The rooms are spacious and beautiful and everything looks like she put a lot of thought into it. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden and it is such a calm and relaxing place to hang out. Also, I am 100% sure that she offers the best breakfast in Dominica. It made us wish we could have it 3 times a day, especially after a continental breakfast odyssey.. We would definitely recommend this place!
