We visited Magherafelt to research my late mother's family; my cousin lives there and I have others in the area. The guesthouse is positioned on a main road but set back to allow parking in front. We had a front bedroom which overlooked a church on the other side of the street. Despite the busy road the room was not... More

Geraldine and Eugene gave our family of 4 a warm and friendly welcome to their excellent guest house. Everything about our stay was excellent . My two boys particularly recommend the home made scones.

Fabulous tour of Heaney's haunts which commenced with cream scones and tea in Geraldine and Eugene's gorgeous dining room. This is an experience not to be missed. If you have ever read a poem by the famous Nobel laureate, Seamus Heaney and want to learn more, you will not be disappointed. Eugene will show you where he grew up and... More

We were on a cycling tour of Northern Ireland with two friends and booked Laurel Villa at short notice. We were pleased and so will you be. The rooms are large and nicely furnished with really comfortable beds. Breakfast was fantastic and included about the best and lightest scones I've ever eaten. More than the usual stuff though is the... More

We recently spent an excellent few days here. The friendliness of the hosts, the wonderful breakfasts and the comfortable rooms are the key points to any enjoyable stay and Laurel Villa passes with flying colours! Keep up the good work and we look forward to returning sometime soon.

My family actually visited July of 2014. We absolutely fell in love with Laurel Villa and cannot wait to take our extended family back to visit again! We were blessed with incredible hosts, Gerardine and Eugene. I will never forget our delicious breakfasts. We got to live the dream at Laurel Villa!

A group of parents/friends travelled today to Laurel villa in Magherafelt from Belfast. We received a very warm welcome. We had a variety of lovely home made scones by Geraldine and tea out of fine bone china cups. Eugene then took us on the Seamus Heaney tour which was just brilliant, emotional and uplifting. He read poems and prose and... More

Laurel Villa is an historic Victorian building which belies a modern, comfortable and warm interior. The warmest part of our stay however was the welcome given by the owners Eugene and Gerardine Kielt, who effortlessly extend their Irish hospitality. We stayed for one evening in the spacious Heaney room. Laurel Villa pays homage to Irish Poets, including Michael Langley from... More
