First impression was a very nice, clean village and small. From the minute of walking into the Hotel Entrance was greeted with welcoming smiling staff, called for the Manager to deal with our booking who came through again warm welcome, friendly and professional with relevant paperwork to be signed. Showed us to our room, booked us a table for our... More

We stayed for 1 night for the 1940s weekend. Lovely clean white bedding, I did check to see if the matteress and pillows had protecters on and they all did. Best of all, wrapped disposable cups in the bathroom, plenty of goodies to munch on next to the kettle. Breakfast was excellent...oh yes good vibes from the bar staff.

After a long walk we needed to refuel and after reading reviews this seemed the best place to try. Ordered cheese and bacon burger and a doubled up caramelised onion burger. With a side of onion rings. Staff were nice and polite and the food was quick to come across. Food was good value for money with food service and... More

Lovely spot in a nice village. Went for lunch quite late and just made last orders. The food was pretty grim to be honest especially at about £10 a meal. Six pieces of scampi, pale chips that tasted as if they had been reheated, tablespoon of peas. The wine wasn't that good either. So two mains and two drinks was... More

Went for lunch after the lovely waterfall walk. The young lad on the bar and waiting on was great. Sorry we didn't catch his name. We sat in the garden and our two dogs joined us. He even gave them a dish of water. Food was lovely though my partner was expecting a few mor chips than he paid for.... More

Myself and a friend stayed 2 nights as we were doing the three peaks challenge. We ate in the bar Friday and chose the 2 for £10 burger offer. Very tasty, good quality burgers for the price. An early start on Saturday and staff had kindly left a packed lunch outside our room for our long day ahead. Full cooked... More

When planning to visit family up in East Kilbride for the Easter weekend, we decided to break the return journey back to Newmarket in Suffolk with an overnight stay in Yorkshire and incorporate a scenic walk. After searching the internet we came across the Wheatsheaf Inn which seemed to meet all our needs. When we arrived at around mid-day on... More

We stayed here because of the proximity to the waterfall walk and the FAB room with four poster bed and lovely ensuite bathroom. The price could not be argued with as it included breakfast and the room was very well kitted out. I have coeliac disease and didn't really think that the Wheatsheaf would be our choice of place to... More

We've been coming here about every 2-3 years for past 15 years. The food 'used' to be to die for; lots of choices, good quality, platefuls and excellent value for money; it was always busy and the food was relished. But sadly, our last 2 trips have been disappointing. We went today to find very limited choices of normal or... More

The Wheatsheaf is steeped in history stretching as far back as the 17th century. This Coaching Inn was extended in the 1800s to include a Blacksmiths shop and stables, now being utilized as the dining room. There is a large beer garden to rear and food is served every day.
