What a complete find this place is! Modern country chic styling in the bedrooms, comfy beds and pillows. Roaring fires, well-stocked bar and a simply delicious menu - English country favourites on the menu, fresh produce used and cooked to perfection. Staff were a brilliant mix of northern friendliness with professional expertise. We stayed two nights, ate in the restaurant...

I went with 3 friends for lunch at the Alma inn on valentine's day. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived. Only about 4 or 5 tables occupied. We sat there for about 10 minutes and no one had been to give us a menu or take a drinks order. We found the menus ourselves and all of a sudden...

A birthday and retirement treat. Excellent dinner of fresh, beautifully cooked fish, washed down with fine wine; an overnight stay in the junior suite and eggs benedict for breakfast, made all the more enjoyable by pleasant and attentive staff. First rate!

We have eaten many times at the Alma & ate here in October when The Seafood pub company took over. I said in my last review I would give it 5 star once the training had kicked in,and it has....we arrived & a young man named Joe introduced himself to my young son of the same name,he was great. I have been staying at the Alma for just over a year. I have never been disappointed the staff cannot do enough to make your stay as painless as possible. Kathryn's team are friendly and helpful and breakfast with Yvonne is always memorable. The menu is compact but full of fantastic home cooked dishes. The trio of beef is a...

Set in wonderful countryside, this unassuming inn/hotel/restaurant is without doubt a hidden gem. The room we were allocated was HUGE!! All food(canapes, main meal and sweet)were of the highest order. Attention to detail, superb service and excellent choice from the bar were an unexpected surprise. We may not go again(distance)but we were so glad my brother chose this inn for his wedding reception.

Last night my husband and I and two other couples took advantage of the £100 offer to stay at the Alma during January but it has now been extended for February too.. The idea is that your food and drinks bill for the evening has to amount to that amount or more per couple and you can then stay for...

Been here a few times and not sure what to think of the Alma. Great spot, nice interior but ! The food is pub grub at a pound or two extra compared to others but no better quality. The service can be patchy and a little overbearing. Yes sir, no sir...... It seems they want to give the impression of...

The Alma is a very relaxing place to visit. The bar area is like your front room, there is a nice dining room and a function room used for weddings and funerals which means that sometimes it is fully booked. The staff make you feel at home. Food is good. They also have accommodations and the area is beautiful (even...

We visited the Alma with my brother and his wife and we were unanimous in our opinion of this very friendly country pub. The meal was excellent and the service from the team was top notch. Our evening was made even more memorable by Mihai who was very interesting and kept us entertained. He was very professional and attentive -...
