The Alma is a very relaxing place to visit. The bar area is like your front room, there is a nice dining room and a function room used for weddings and funerals which means that sometimes it is fully booked. The staff make you feel at home. Food is good. They also have accommodations and the area is beautiful (even...

We visited the Alma with my brother and his wife and we were unanimous in our opinion of this very friendly country pub. The meal was excellent and the service from the team was top notch. Our evening was made even more memorable by Mihai who was very interesting and kept us entertained. He was very professional and attentive -...

Having pre booked a table we were taken to a wood panelled dining area which was cosy. We were given the menu and was given time to choose, this seemed like an eternity as the staff were not attentive, they preferred to stand and talk to each other at the bar. The food arrive but it was mediocre, we were...

Myself and my colleagues have been staying at the Alma on and off since November. Our rooms are comfortable, the food is lovely and we are always made to feel very welcome. Yvonne serves us breakfast in the mornings and now knows us all by name which only adds to that "personal touch". She makes us feel that nothing is too...

We have stayed at The Alma 3 times previously but this was the first time since it changed hands around August 2016 to become part of Seafood Pub Company group. We arrived at around 3.30pm and had to wait a good 10 mins to be told check-in was 4pm but they would check us in anyway but we couldn't have...

We stayed here for two nights (this is about the sixth time we've stayed here) whilst visiting family locally and it's become a bit of home from home. Lovely rooms that play on the literary heritage of the local area with Wordsworth collections/Bronte novels awaiting you. Luxury touches abound, including a lovely fluffy blanket in the wardrobe and Orla Keily...

Thought we'd give a try as haven't been for years but wish we hadn't. The food was very poor two of our party had the roast beef which was at best ok meat wise but the potatoes were as though warmed up and stodgy . One of the party had steak , medium well done but was very rare and...
